Important notes:- Update the monitor firmware! Latest is FW0.22 as of 1/1/25- OLED Care options were not on by default; you should enable them!- Default color settings seemed a bit blurry. Just need to adjust to your likingThis monitor is replacing an LG IPS 4K 120Hz display that I used to use for gaming. My video card can’t really handle true 4K gaming at a decent frame rate without frame generation, so this 1440p (2K) monitor is perfect for my setup. Cyberpunk 2077 is a completely different experience on an OLED monitor. Truly remarkable.One note: The default color option was Game Mode: Premium color. I set mine to Game Mode: User and adjusted the settings myself. I have sharpness set to 3/5 which seems to be a nice balance. I suggest playing with the settings because I didn’t like what it came with out of the box.OLED care options were also not enabled out of the box so I turned all of the protections on just in case. I updated the firmware using a DisplayPort cable and by downloading the files needed from MSI’s website. Unfortunately at this time it seems that updating the firmware can only be done by a Windows machine.

This review is for the MAG 271QPX QD-OLED E2.This has been my first experience with OLED monitors, and it’s already been very impressive. Straight out of the box the picture was very good, and after a little bit of tweaking with the settings the monitor is incredible. Within the first hour of using the new monitor my old monitor immediately just looked so washed out, I couldn’t believe I had used it for so long. There is some VRR flicker, but I never noticed it in too many places but still disabled it anyway. I don’t know if this is the best monitor available, but I picked it up on sale and don’t think I’ll ever be content with an IPS or VA panel ever again.

The color accuracy is great and brightness level well above what is the minimum that I require. The refresh rate (240hz) is quite the bonus along with the response rate (0.03), but the true star is the contrast levels and the color’s brightness. The software and navigation is quite comfortable and intuitive and MSI has enabled the use of updates for this model which helps further with color accuracy and other quality of life improvement. And talking about quality of life I suggest using MSI QOLED Care as much as possible to avoid burn-in and it takes just a couple of minutes every 4 hours which is reasonable.It is a great monitor and a really good upgrade from a VA panel, not as bright as the Mini Led but bright enough for 80 to 90% of the people and HDR is impressive thanks to the blacks and 0 bleeding, but it is not going to blind you for ever as miniled (I do enjoy the light blasts but compromises are necessary). If you can get it at a discount it probably one of the if not the best option out there for the price point.

Good monitor. If you are upgrading from a VA panel monitor, possibly look into a WOLED panel display instead of QD-OLED, as the colors are a bit warmer compared to my old VA panel. The monitor is not as bright as VA as well side by side, and it’s glossier than expected. Good picture quality and colors though. No problems with text or color fringing.

The MSI 271QPX QD-OLED E2 is quite honestly amazing – better or comparable to the OLED screens on phones these days. It gets extremely bright, the HDR is fantastic for content that works with it, it’s easily update-able through the DisplayPort connection, and so far the OLED burn-in protection works really really well. I actually barely notice any of the things the monitor is doing to prevent burn-in – which is a great thing. Yes, the monitor does have a pop-up that asks you to run some burn-in care but it’s a great reminder to take a quick breather from staring at a screen for so long. I’m currently really enjoying watching content in SDR and playing games in HDR – would not be able to go back to an IPS screen after this. Also have zero dead pixels but the MSI warranty is pretty generous so even if I did, I wouldn’t have too worry to much. All in all, very worth it and would recommend.

I’ve wanted a new monitor for a while to take advantage of my gaming pc, and this MSI monitor delivers every aspect I desire. This MSI monitor is bright, vibrant, and has fantastic contrast. The glossy coating helps make images pop, unlike other OLED monitors I saw from Samsung and LG. I was worried I would miss the 4k resolution of my old IPS monitor, but I didn’t. The MAG 271QPX E2 blows my old IPS monitor out of the water, and it’s not even close. Response times are instant, and I immediately noticed that going from 60hz to 240hz was a massive leap in smoothness. Navigation through the menu was simple, and settings were easy to configure. This MSI monitor’s ergonomics, design, and build quality are top-notch. Many people complained about text fringing, and while it exists, it is not as big of a deal as many people make it out to be; it’s still very sharp with its 1440p resolution. Another overblown complaint is the purple hue of QD-OLED, and unless you have very, VERY harsh lighting in your room, it’s essentially a non-issue when the monitor is on. In addition, I use this monitor with my Nintendo Switch, which makes playing games brand new again with this QD-OLED Panel. Overall, I highly recommend this monitor to anyone looking into an OLED monitor at a fair price; MSI is the way to go with its 3-year burn-in warranty.
