    Great product for home!

Takes up less space than a desktop but has great power for games and work. Can have multiple programs running with no lag whatsoever. I love this laptop and the huge screen size! The screen casing seems a bit tight as there’s a yellow hue on the edges a bit while loading up but goes away when it comes to life! Love using it at home, but the battery life isn’t stellar even on power saving mode so I don’t recommend it for work on the go unless you work extremely fast.

    Absolutely love it

This is the perfect computer. Although, after a few months of use I had to get the motherboard replaced. The computer itself has a few issues, but overall it preforms great. The fans are also very loud.

    Arrived in perfect condition

This laptop is a beautiful beast! It’s kinda heavy but not too much to handle. The sound from the speakers is amazingly immersive! The battery life is terrible though. I haven’t figured out what all to do to manage battery usage yet. Right now, I’ll get maybe 4 hours before I have to plug it in. That’s with light web surfing too. I do love how fast it is. And the screen resolution is amazing! Overall, I’m very happy with this laptop.

Awesome machine! More than I needed!

ZERO complaints! Fast! high quality, fast, clear, quiet(yes it gets a little louder when you are working it).only issue is finding a sleeve that it actually fits in. This thing is huge.

    Great performing laptop.

I purchased it for my college-age child. She has been using it at college since August and loves it. It works well and has good storage. The only drawback is it is heavy to carry across campus with the backpack, and power cord. Her college campus is large and it is a long trek to classes from the dorm.

Blue Screen Issue FIXED by Dell Support

If anyone is experiencing the blue screen of death in these screenshots, roll back your BIOS from 1.11.1 to 1.10.1. This fixed the issue for me & now the laptop is once more running at optimal performance!!

    It’s a beast!

Overall really happy with this laptop. It’s built solid, looks like something delivered from some other planet far away for us humans to experience a fast computer. It runs all of my programs (taxing music/video production all at the same time with ease. If you can afford it, go for it! Plus the RGB keyboard has a tendency to mesmerize anyone that sees!

    Great performance, high quality build.

Iv’e always wanted an Alienware after hearing about their powerful and reliable products. One of the things that brought to this laptop was it’s thin and super sleek design with its LEDs and many vent holes. When i got it out of the box and started it up for the first time, i only had one minor issue. The issue i had was bluetooth, it keep disconnecting from my mouse and headset. But it was a simple issue and simple fix. It had to do the dolby access app that comes with the laptop. I turned it off, then turned it back on well as ran a troubleshooter. After that i had no issues with the bluetooth. From my experience it seems to be a common thing with laptops that have some form of dolby. My old acer had a similar issue, and was pretty much the same fix. Also, from my experience things like that may happen because you’re getting a laptop with all default settings being used for the first time, it just takes a little tweaking, laptops won’t be perfect when you first boot them up.With that said, what are my thoughts on this laptop? Well if you need something small and sleek with great power, you can’t really go wrong with this one. Alienware is known for gaming performance, and it runs like a champ!!! I get about 80 fps in watchdogs legion with max settings. This is with the rtx 3070ti and AMD ryzen 9 6900 HX version with 32 gig ram.Build quality, build quality lives up to alienware’s reputation of high quality. Everything feels very solid as it should be. The sceen has just a slight flex as to be expected with screens, but it doesn’t feel like it’s coming come off anytime soon.Fingerprints, the laptop doesn’t really show fingerprints, but marks will show from time to time if you’re like me who has oily skin. So make sure to keep it clean!Cooling, as stated before this laptop has lots of vent holes. And it does prove to be helpful!! Yes the fans can be a little noisy at times, but that’s what you can expect from something packing this much power into a laptop. Plus, you can always change the fan settings in the command center if you need. The keyboard, so far i LOVE the cherry keyboard, it’s on the louder side and may not be to everyone’s taste. But personally, i find the keys to be fast and responsive with them having actual springs and not just membranes like so many other keyboards. The screen, i love the screen with the resolution being 2560×1440 at a max of 240 hz. The pixels are very small giving a clean and clear quality. And the 240 hz makes it very responsive, this is a big step up from my old acer nitro 5 that only had a max of 60 hz!!The battery: The battery will last a decent deal of time, but i wouldn’t expect your jaw to drop, this is a power-hungry machine Afterall. The LED’s, what can i say I’m a sucker for anything with lights. And this unit has lots of them if you’re onto that. You can customize the color of every single key/ the alien head and the lights around the exhausts on the back. You can even have a theme for each game that will automatically turn on when you load your game up!!!Overall i LOVE this beast. Sure its not for everyone and thats fine. But i personally find this a great choice for the money and the amount of technology you get.

    Perfect for work and play!

This gaming beast gets the job done for work and play. Your here because you’re a gamer so let’s get that out of the way right now! For gaming it has an RTX 3070 ti which handles any triple A title I throw at it, just finished up God of War on ultra in1440p was getting aa solid 75 fps. It handled it great and getting ready for Spider-Man Remastered next week. For my job we only do photo editing which this machine handles like a champ obliviously. I have to be honest this is my first experience with the red brand meaning the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor which has been outstanding. The screen which is QHD (2560×1440) and at 240Hz its buttery smooth, the speakers are fair that’s an area Alienware and Dell can improve on in the future even though most gamers used a headset but still the speakers are fine. But the mechanical per light keyboard is the best laptop keyboard I’ve ever typed on its only rival is the Apple Magic keyboard on its new M1 and M2 lines, trust me it’s a pleasure to type and game on. With 32 gb of DDR 5 ram and a 1TB ssd nvme your set to game immediately.CONSThe only cons I can come up with are the “average” speakers and the battery life. Now the battery life is fine if not unimpressive, 4 hours doing daily task but maybe a little over 2 hours gaming, if you want to use this machine, you’ll need to have it connected with that hefty power adapter to reach its full potential, which is not shocking for any gaming laptop. In conclusion I will mention the price. Is it an expensive piece of tech? Absolutely. But in life, usually we get what we pay for and in this case, you’re paying for an outstanding premium gaming machine that is a killer desktop replacement that is light enough to travel with (7.5 pounds when you combine the laptop and adapter). And what can’t be forgotten is Dell’s terrific customer service, so as long as your machine is under warranty, you’re guaranteed a working machine. So, in other words go for it you won’t be disappointed.

Too many Issues for a laptop I’d really like to keep!

screen stays black after waking up… when logging in it lags randomly until restarted, randomly turns off and gives blue screen, etc. This is after every driver has been updated and I have reinstalled windows using all methods. Once you are over the obstacles it does perform great! But the crash and recovery is the deal breaker for a laptop in this price range.. it is a shame I had to return it, I was interested in being a customer: Dell should really look into their management. I am not surprised if there will be firings.

    Ohhhhh Myyyyy

Alienware has done it again! This 480 Hz gaming laptop will not disappoint, I’ve had this unit for close to six months putting it through the most extreme tests in gaming situations and it is come through like a champ. I have had no issues with regards to its performance. You might find that you need a settlement firmware upgrade where popping sound can crop up occasionally. This is a driver issue which is easily corrected with a proper download. The 18 inch screen is a dream, if you’ve never had a screen to speak you are in for a treat! I would highly recommend this product. On my scale of 1 to 5 I rate this product 5+ (SOLID BUY)

    Excellent laptop

I love this machine. The display is crisp and has very good color balance. I really like the deeper screen (16 x 10 instead of the usual 16 x 9). The keyboard has a great feel. Keeping up with drivers, etc. is very easy with the Dell support site. It is a bit heavy, so may not be a good choice for someone wanting a really portable machine. There is a slot available to add a second hard drive if desired. The sound quality is above average, but not fantastic. There are plenty of USB 3 ports. The machine does not have an Ethernet port, but I rarely need that anyway. The CPU is fast enough for all the games I play, and with 32G of memory, it has enough resources for almost any use.

Awesome laptop if you’re in the know

The Dell Alienware M18 R1 is an awesome gaming pc. I say pc instead of laptop because its sheer size and weight would crush your bones after a while. Dell is known for their PITA pc builds. This is my second M18 R1. It gets a bad rep for what seems like multiple reasons that realistically boiler down to a few key factors. Ethernet LAN connection uses Killer App. Uninstall it and LAN is perfect. Wi-Fi works fine. Dell Support Assist is the major issue for “system updates” and pretty much all system crashes… including boot up “windows didn’t load properly”. Spent hours manipulating the software to push BIOS update through. Once Bios was updated, I deleted all Support Assist components and haven’t had an issue since. Windows has so many crash and recovery redundancies that make another pointless anyway. Get rid of all pre-built bloatware that you’ll never use. The junk new computers come with from the store. Go into NVIDIA Control Panel and set NVIDIA High Performance graphic card to preferred to stop the MUX switching. Use NVIDIA GeForce Experience to keep graphic drivers in check. Under Windows Update turn on Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available and check Advanced Options for Optional Updates regularly. Download free edition of SuperAntiSpyware and run quick scan regularly. Use NVIDIA vertical sync in 3d settings and turn off in game v sync settings to reduce input lag/screen tearing. Lastly, make sure game mode is on. Try all that and it should run beautifully.

    Alienware>Razer

Ended up keeping this laptop after my Razer just got too insanely hot. The dell is engineered with cooling in mind, and stays relatively cool under load for long periods of time. I was on the fence about going for an Alienware or a Razer and I’m really glad I went with the Alienware. The engineering helps to mitigate any problems normally associated with laptops.

    My precious

Yup, it’s big, heavy, and also loud and hot if you get into a game with very much pizazz. The keyboard is 1000% clicky clacky. And it is a glorious beast. Videos are beautiful and sound great to watch (and they don’t force the fan into overdrive).I bought it to play Ark. It does so nicely. Also loudly and hotly, lol. Still does better than the desktop I have. Battery seems average. This monster is heavy and not as mobile as some laptops but I bought it to sit on the couch and play games or surf the web. I keep it plugged in most of the time.

    Cons and pros

This Alienware is true monster. The battery is good in the normal usage like browsing and working but when gaming it drains in 1 hour and 20 min!!!!It has fantastic design and beautiful interior touchesThe cam was poor and shocking especially when you are paying such a premium price you want everything perfectIt is also too heavy unfortunatelyHowever, Iam very happy about it

    Premium

This laptop is an absolute unit of a gaming laptop. I went with the 3070 TI version with a Ryzen 6900HX and let me tell you, it is SNAPPY. I travel a lot for work and needed something that could heavily multi-task while also providing bar none gaming on the go.Benefits:Extremely fast and responsive240HZ refresh rate monitor is butterkeyboard is the best typing experince i have had on a laptopFeels premium (no deck flex or wobble)PitfallsWhen gaming, the fans REALLY ramp up making quite a bit of noiseA real chonker (heavy)DO NOT try to fit this into a standard 15.6 in travel backpack. It will poke out the sides. Get a 17 backpack instead.Overall i am trhilled with the performance. I have not had any issues yet but will provide update in a few weeks.

    It was good at first

It was great at first but I started having problems with it 2 months after purchase date.Mostly graphical issues – it seems like it’s a graphics card or thermal problem. Started experiencing big frame drops and so I have to send it in for RMA. Hopefully Dell can fix the issue.I would go for a desktop PC next time.

Phenomenal so far, outperforms some high-end desktop configurations

This is a review for the AMD 7845x & Nvidia 4080 model, with 32 GB RAM and the 1200p 480hz screen:This laptop is working perfectly and scoring extremely well on benchmarks. The only thing you need to do is uninstall Dell SupportAssist (after you use it to update all the lastest drivers/bios) because SupportAssist causes major but brief video/audio stutters every 10-15 minutes.Don’t do a custom overclock on this. There’s very little upside. If you do, it might bluescreen several times until it auto-reverts to default settings. Just use this on the Alienware performance mode and watch it crush other similar laptops in benchmarks and give you 100-400 fps in modern games at 1200p using the 40 series Nvidia features like DLSS, Reflex, and Frame Generation. The AMD CPU outperforms 11900 i9 (non-OC) desktop CPUS and the 4080 mobile GPU outperforms 4070 desktops GPUs.It’s an absolute cutting edge gaming machine for 2024 despite being a laptop because of the giant 18″ chassis which allows for adequate cooling, therefore no throttling.Seriously, I could not be happier.

    Read the reviews 😉

The machine works well but…Very loud fans that seem to have two modes only, and under the slightest pressure they are at full bore. I’ve since read the temp/fan modes are ‘broken’.. hope they fix.The symbols on the number keys don’t light, if I’d read reviews I honestly wouldn’t have purchased on this fact alone, such a terrible design decision on an otherwise great laptop.Ignore the build quality comments, I’ve had high end metal case laptops, MacBook pros etc and this is easily as robust and has a quality feel.Battery life is really good, but then the machine is new ;)Alienware’s own app is a bit cumbersome and as with everything else it took a few rounds of updates, windows, firmware etc for it to come good.Glad I purchased… I’m on the fence, kinda wish I’d stuck with ASUS ROG but it’ll suffice for now

    So far so good

Only been a few days and I am really liking this m18. Although 18″ doesn’t sound like a lot but this thing is beast!I’m wishing I had got the 16 as I bought this to travel with and will weigh me down a lot.If you’re debating this or the 16 go with the 16 as I still may trade down the size I had to get a bigger bag to carry and man it’s heavy with everything in it lol.

Great laptop for the price, awesome look!

I thought the RTX 3080 would be more powerful, is not, is just like an RTX 2080 or a 1080ti, don’t expect miracles, the screen is nice with the 480hz display, but hardly ever will you find a game to make that kind of speed.Looks neat, feels neat, runs fast, it can get loud while gaming although I normally wear headset, so it doesn’t bother me at all. I feel like it is a fair price for performance and look, yes you are paying for the nice look of the Alienware!.
