Died within two months BUT MSI fixed it
It was working great until the graphics card completely failed and BSOD repeatedly while playing a standard game through Steam. I had to pay out of pocket to ship the thing to CA to MSI to repair under warranty, thought it would take over a month to get back, BUT they fixed it SAME DAY and sent it back immediately. They even humored me when I asked them to double check the test just to make sure before sending it back across the country. EXCELLENT customer service.

Works Good
Works good, runs as expected. Set up wasn’t bad and I was able to turn off or uninstall most things I didn’t want. It does heat up your room very quickly and can be quite loud, but I didn’t notice it that often. I use it for both games and work, and the gaming is pretty good with not too much lagging even for higher end games.

Great Value
I purchased this on Black Friday as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She loves gaming and is about to start college and this computer gives her the best of both worlds. It was s heavier than her last laptop but it does so much more and has 1TB of memory. Which is amazing. So far she loves it and none of her games lag or freeze up. The picture quality is beautiful.I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Great bang for your buck
I have been testing it sith editing softwares like the adobe suite and davinci resolve with no issue at all, for ganes only used it a couple of times with a VR headset and it was great, it storage is ok for work, but for what I do is better to use external disks. It is not a very portable solution due to it size and weight, but definitively can take you out of an emergency while away. I think it responds very fast to editing but the battery life is not that great, haven’t figure out how to last more than 3 hours, but I think for this kind of computers that’s the usual “good lasting” time

Amazing value
I bought this laptop for college and for gaming on the side and it is exactly what I was looking for it’s really powerful and while it’s expensive the price matches it and is an overall amazing value. Keyboard looks really cool and feels amazing to use. It is a very good build quality and not very heavy. Has a webcam and mic and everything you need for video calling and work, etc.. the fans do get pretty noisy sometimes but I don’t mind this at all. I would definitely recommend this product. One thing I would recommend though is a cooling pad as gaming laptops tend to run hot.

great gaming laptop
great quality gaming laptop, i love the personalization abilities, battery life is amazing if ur not running anything too crazy, the only thing, is i let it overheat a lil (not sure how hot it got exactly) and it froze, so i took the bottom panel off and let it sit like that, and it took about 48hrs to cool back down enough to where it was usable, but im pretty sure thats more my fault than the laptop itself, i would recommend, i would say u definitely get what u pay for with this one

Great machine, difficult to upgrade
This is a well built machine. However, if you plan on upgrading the SSD or adding another one, just know that it can’t be done out of the box. If you want to add another SSD, you’ll need to request a mounting bracket from MSI, who will send you one for free.If you are wanting to upgrade storage all around, you’ll need to get support from MSI or from an authorized dealer before doing that. This laptop will not allow for a standard Windows 10/11 install.Lastly, the battery isn’t great, but not horrible.

Amazing system – and that price (I paid 1599 for it is such a good deal…)
They do have 2 hidden partitions with their software on it; but I was able to completely wipe the machine and reinstalled windows 11; then selectively added any software I needed. It’s a great system, though I am surprised I had to order (free) a special bracket to make use of the 2nd NVME slot inside the computer. I’m just waiting for that bracket to show now… Still, great price – great system… And yes, it does run hot (a cooling pad is a great idea….)

Love it
I had another laptop previously and it just wasn’t sparking joy. I wanted this one but it was a bit heavier so I opted for the other. I regretted it. It was so buggy. So I sprung for this one. Beautiful, fast, no problems out of the box. Love it.

I hope you like rebooting!
This laptop has several issues relating to Windows 11 and the onboard NVidia card. I’ve done my best to diagnose it and have come to the conclusion that this laptop with this card isn’t a great combo. There are some unresolved software issues with either NVidia’s drivers or Windows 11.The short story: If you’re using Windows 11, don’t buy this laptop. If you wipe it out and put Linux on it, it’s fine.Long storyI keep having problems with memory leaks. If you run this all day long and do GPU intensive things like I do, this laptop will randomly hang (not a big deal but annoying!) throughout the day. And after a while of use it will simply run out of memory. I use a lot of Adobe applications and they choke out after a couple of hours. Things like Chrome, and various other tools will fill up your ram.Why do I think it’s the GPU? Because anything that requires the GPU (Machine Learning stuff, rendering, gaming, etc) will increase the problems so fast that you will have to reboot to use the machine again.Since I don’t care much for warranties, I tried a few things. I thought it might be an SSD problem, so I replaced that. I reinstalled WIndows 11, instead of using the version that shipped full of bloatware. Same problems. I even swapped the memory out because I have known good memory, same problems. Ran a very long memory test on it, and the memory is fine. For some reason, the software just allocates memory and refuses to release it. Several products, as I mentioned.Strangely enough, I dual-boot this machine with Linux and don’t have any of these problems. I’ve managed to get around 7 days of uptime in Linux, and only had to reboot to some Adobe/Windows stuff. I can train models, and even play games in Linux just fine.Running Windows 11, I cannot go a full day without rebooting. Anything more than 2 hours. I wouldn’t recommend this laptop to Windows users at all at this time.

Now, this is what I have been waiting for!
It works great. Love MSI Center. Does not crash or hang up. All of my old games load and play. Did not work like that before. Automatically sets compatibility modes and asks if worked or not so can adjust or Leave the settings. Been spot on every time.Running new games on extreme and high settings. No issues at all. Forza Horizon 5, Red Dead Redemption, etc…. are real cool. No issues. The graphics are OUTSTANDING. On Laptop screen and on my 70″ TV.Worth the price. Spent enough money on things that should work. This DOES work. Quite nicely.Uninstaller One Drive cloud crap and Microsoft 365 so I don’t lose my pictures and they are not interfering with other important things.Sure like the Start menu a lot better. Simple and easy.

Overheats for everything, pretty meh
I like the keyboard layout…other then that it’s kinda meh for the price. It’s got all the guts in it to be a beast but it’s not. It overheats while downloading a game…downloading! And when you play said game it just freezes…like I have to hold the start button in to switch it off and then restart it again. Tried 5 different games…all the same thing. Then thought…maybe I should just set graphics lower? But then again, what did I buy this machine for if I need to do that? So yea. Pretty meh

Good specs at a good price
[Oct 2024]We had an old laptop that died recently and wouldn’t be worth repairing, so while the October Prime Days event was on I looked for something that should be somewhat ‘future proof’ with good specs at a price less than $1000. I picked the MSI Katana A15 AI 15.6” 144Hz FHD Gaming Laptop with the Ryzen 7-9945HS and NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4060, 32Gb RAM, and 1TB SSD.It was on sale for $879 plus tax at the time, which was a really good price for the specs. It has all the ports we need for plugging in different devices, the keyboard feels good, and the screen is bright & crisp with a 144Hz refresh rate that keeps up with the busiest action scenes in games and movies. The screen is a bit more ‘letter box’ shape than I’d really like, but that’s the only thing I can find to whine about. It’s a bit heavy compared to some, but that isn’t an issue for us.It runs all our small business office and accounting software silently, without the cooling system kicking in at all. The only time it cools itself is when playing graphic intensive games, and IMHO the fan noise isn’t bad at all. Most of the time it sits on a multi fan cooling pad, but even without that turned on the laptop never gets particularly hot.All in all, it was a great deal, so if it’s on sale for less than $900 again, snap it up. Even at around $1050 I think it’s still a worthy contender.

Great Quality for the Price Laptop, but…
MSI delivers a very nice gaming laptop. The picture quality is beautiful and crisp. The refresh rate is very nice. My only complaint so far is that the AC adapter will not stay plugged in. I believe it is a flaw in the design. You literally cannot move it in the least without the AC adapter starting to slide out. If I wanted a desktop that never moves, I’d have bought a desktop. In under a month, I have sent it to the manufacturer to see if they can do anything to fix the fit. At least it is under warranty.

Great Laptop for Price
You get a great laptop, for a great price. Can’t beat having a 4070 with 64GB of ram. Only downside is the fans are very loud and run a lot; and the left half of the keyboard can get pretty warm from the head all the hardware produces. Recommend getting a cooling pad to help.

Strong Gaming Performance
I bought this to replace my old home-built gaming PC, which was starting to show its age after eight years of constant use and a couple of hardware upgrades. I’m very happy with the purchase overall. This laptop feels well-built (and is surprisingly heavy) and runs all of my games (mainly MMOs) at high-to-max graphic settings with around 90-100 fps.I was a little dismayed by how fast the battery drained after I unplugged it from the power adapter, but to be fair I was running two monitors and a fairly graphics-intense game with everything maxed. I have nothing bad to say. Well, the documentation was pretty sparse; for example, the programmable backlighted keys are controlled by software and it took me a frustrating ten minutes to figure that out for myself. Maybe that’s something I should have just known. This was offered at a good price with a couple of nice upgrades (64 Gigs RAM and a 2TB SSD) for around $300 less than other machines I was looking at with the same specs.

HARD TO COME BY.
Recently purchased product to get back into gaming. ill be honest if you’re looking for 1080p gaming at its finest on a laptop, its hard to argue with this one. so far i’ve been using it for about one week. and i’ve played pretty reasonable games i believe (COD:MW3, HELLDIVERS 2, KILLING FLOOR 2, DYINGLIGHT, DESTINY 2) All of these games I’ve sat and played for at least 4 hrs each on high-ultra settings and it easily handles over 60 fps. HOWEVER i did get a cooling fan because i read previous over heat reviews before purchasing so i cant say if its loud or not while gaming just yet.surfing is a breeze. but ill be honest I’m not the consumer who has over 20 tabs open. i usually always consistently close browsers or delete unused apps. and i use a dual set up as well. even before i actually realized it was meant for 1080p gamingthe shipping came a day after it was suppose to arrive. however the packaging and everything was pristine. the looks pf the laptop feels very exclusive, sleek yet certain things feel mediocre? i feel like the body of the laptop feels a little on the low end in terms of quality giving for the parts that’s in it. The only concern i have with this laptop is the battery. i plugged it out while the game was running it was at 98 and i left for 20 minutes and it was sitting around 25. i don’t want to seem exaggerated but at a full charge the time on the system says 1 hr & 50 minutes…. and that’s before i run any programs or software. but after sitting down and running a couple games with the benchmarks and i have an xbox one series X as well. and in my opinion its really hard to argue with the value you get with this. i DO NOT regret this purchase.

Really good gaming laptop for the price.
Fast, nice display, and doesn’t overheat. This is my third MSI gaming laptop and I’m happy with it.The only drawback is all the junk Windows 11 loads onto the laptop. Not MSI’s fault. It occurs on any Windows 11 system, but takes time and patience to try to eliminate all the junk. Just setting up the screen saver takes going to FOUR different windows and setting the options one at a time. C’mon Microsoft! And you can’t delete some of the more annoying Windows junk programs. MS Windows is a tyrant.

Great for Gaming, Adequate for Work/Travel
For the price, the specs are very nice. Most laptops with these specs would cost typically $1800. The laptop performs great when playing games and doing any type of work with its fast processor and quick gpu. The RAM is nice for multitasking and ensuring smooth gameplay. However, there are a few downsides about this laptop which I will list below:1. Poor, poor battery life. Expect maybe 2 hours of use when running on battery life even for casual browsing and whatnot. Performance on these types of laptops drop significantly when not plugged in.2. The keyboard feels a little on the cheap side. The keyboard on this laptop feels slightly worse than the keyboard on my $800 acer laptop. The customizable backlights are nice, but I would rather have better keys than cool aesthetics.3. If you want to install a camera blocker on this, like the ones that you can slide open and closed, than too bad. The rubber bumper hugs the top of the camera making it impossible to do so. I guess a piece of tape would work though.Overall, for the price, it is well worth the purchase. If you plan on using this a lot for traveling and doing work, where you will run it on battery power, than definitely do not get this laptop. If you plan to use this where you were going to have it plugged in a lot and are an avid game player, then this laptop is definitely for you. The large screen is great, The specs are powerful, and it is a great value laptop.

Only 4 stars so it don’t get missed
Read the 1 star reviews. This computer fps rate is horrible , games take forever to download with nothing on the system . Only played one game ‘Sons of Forrest ‘ and the screen kept freezing and I could not turn my FOV but could walk still using WASD . Going to start a return and see how it goes for the rest of this week ( I have untill 9/28 to return ). the size of this computer is huge and the fans heat up fairly quickly so make sure you have a fan cooler of some sorts while using it . Speakers did not sound the best in my opinion .

Warning: Battery Life is Not Great
Bought this for our daughter to take to college. I got excited by the great stats on all the components, but totally overlooked the expected battery life (that’s on me, just wanna warn anyone else considering this laptop to not make the same mistake). I’ve found that if you optimize the heck out of all the settings, you *might* be able to get around 2 hours of battery life max! From what I’ve gathered, that’s pretty typical of gaming laptops, I just wasn’t aware of that and naively assumed all laptops at this point had like 5 hours or more of battery life. It’s still a power house of a laptop for the price though, and we can work around the battery thing… just gotta find an outlet to sit near.

The specs you receive for the price are unmatched. I use it to run my business and game and have zero issues. Can run a little hot if you transport it a lot and forget to turn it off… (that’s on me) it boots so quickly and can run the most demanding games as well as numerous programs at once.

Please Update BIOS first.
Random blue screen crashes do occur, but are all FIXED with the most recent BIOS update.
