UPDATE:So after a little over two days after I left previous review, when I sat down to use it, it would not turn on! It had been in sleep mode for a few hours and I noticed the laptop was still very hot. I did some online research and found that overheating has been an issue with these laptops. I fiddled around some more and was able to get the machine to fire up again. From that point on, I’ve been very careful; limiting my gaming time, turning off the laptop everyday, and checking the CPU temp on the Alienware app. Since the machine was a brand new model, most of the online tips for heat management didn’t apply. The best solution I found was a separate laptop cooling pad. This seemed to cool down the machine and assist with heat management. Then After a week of use, I noticed that the power button was flashing red. It was flashing in code; three red flashes followed by a blue flash. The machine was functioning normal otherwise. I did some research but then decided to call Alienware customer support. My experience with customer support was excellent! I was able to concisely describe the problem and the representative was able to fix the problem fairly quickly. They then followed up with an email for any further support. Very impressed.I decided to take a star away due to the machines poor heat management but I want to leave it at four stars on account of the exceptional customer service. Still recommend!(Previous review)I’ve been a PC gamer for many years and I’ve built my own desktop PC in the past. I also currently own a desktop PC that has a GPU a little more powerful than the one in this laptop. This is the first Alienware laptop that I’ve owned since I opt for putting my money into choosing all my own parts over name recognition (Alienware usually doesn’t let you choose lesser components like the motherboard, PSU, etc, only CPU/GPU). With this experience in mind, here are my pros and cons for this gaming laptop:Pros: – Overall a powerful machine! The first thing I did when I received it was measure performance on benchmarking software and it scored high. I was expecting a much more noticeable drop in power from my desktop, which (so far) didn’t occur. – I have downloaded about six games so far, all of which have been released in the past two years or so, and are GPU intensive. All the games have been running well over 60fps, Ultra settings, at 1080p. – The overall aesthetic design of the laptop is very appealing. This is where Alienware knocks it out of the park; sleek design, neat lighting on the shell, and a backlight keyboard, all of which works right out of the box (see pics). – Comes with Windows 11 installed and it has been a smooth experience, at least for me, running the laptop with this OS.Cons: – The fans are pretty loud. After about 45 minutes of gaming, they got louder and detracted a bit from the immersion. – Expensive. The price for this laptop is comparable to what I paid for my more powerful non-Alienware desktop PC.I decided not to take away a star for those cons since most laptops have similar fan issues and the expense factor has nothing to do with the product itself (this is Alienware after all). Based upon my experience with this machine so far, I can safely say that this is a quality, high-end product, with the price to match. I don’t mean that in a bad way. If you are in the market for a high-end gaming laptop, and can afford it, than this Alienware product is for you. Recommended!NOTE: I will update the review as I get more time with the machine.

I do mostly love this laptop, just don’t like all the ports in the rear

I got this laptop to replace my inferno razer which is a gen 11 intel with a rtx3070, I really did not like how hot it always ran. Amazingly this can render over twice as fast a short clip in davinci resolve 18. This Alien laptop rendered in 14 seconds which my other took 31 seconds. The keypad fits the fingers well and is easy to keep all fingers inline to type like a banshee. The keys glow strong so they can be seen well in the dark. The power button lights up bright with the alien shape which is cool and easy to find. The finger pad is not too big and not too small. My razer has a oversize pad that I hate because my palm keeps hitting it jumping the mouse into the perfectly wrong spot. There is a nice big backspace key in the upper fight, I can’t stand other laptops like the lenovo that make a standard key size backspace key. My pinky finger is not the most accrete so having a triple size key it makes it easy to rocket my pinky up to the backspace to delete that wrong character I typed. If you want to upgrade the ram to 32 gigs, you will have to buy two 16 gigs and dump the ram they installed. there is no open slots for ram.If you want to add a second drive there is a spot available to plug in a second m.2 ssd drive. The only thing I don’t like is that all the USB ports are on the back. I really really wish they put at least 1 USB-C port on the side. that is the reason I docked it a star. I find it a lot more effort to plug in a device from the rear.

    Pretty good, but be advised

I got this laptop on sale from Dell for $1599 and within the first 5 minutes of turning it on there were issues with the keyboard. After an hour on phone with customer service and having to look up and reinstall some OS stuff on my own, it finally works perfect. It really is a great machine NOW but the initial headache is resolved. Also, it runs HOT so if you get this machine, make sure you get a cooling pad. Seriously, spend the $ and get a good cooling pad. Other than that, it is awesome. Great graphics, fast, easy to use. For the price I paid, Im happy but I doubt I’d pay full price.

Super powerful and thinnest version of Alienware laptops

I ordered X17 R2 Gaming Notebook which is newest version of X17 series laptops from Alienware. I have been using Alienware laptops for years and as an architect, I should say they have the most powerful laptops for doing high quality design works and of course it’s a great option for gamers. This laptop has 17.3-inch monitor which is pretty big size, it’s Core i7-12700H with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070Ti which is the most updated version because of Ti. It has 16GB RAM and1TB SSD and the fan doesn’t make loud noises anymore compared to other version. The battery life is amazing and it doesn’t get hot after couple hours using it with high performance works. This X17 R2 is the thinnest laptops that Alienware has at the moment and I absolutely love it. Highly recommend it especially that the price is way better than stores or other online stores.

    Sleek and powerful

Firstly, the design is sleek and modern, which I love. It’s definitely an eye-catcher with its thin profile and customizable RGB lighting. The build quality feels solid.Performance-wise, it’s a beast. The Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU handle everything I throw at it effortlessly, from gaming to productivity tasks. The display is beautiful , with vibrant colors and a fast refresh rate. One of my main concerns was battery life, and unfortunately, it falls a bit short here. It’s decent for a gaming laptop, but I find myself needing to plug in sooner than I’d like. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, with good key travel and responsive feedback. The trackpad is also precise, but I mostly use an external mouse for gaming.Heat management is another area where the m16 R2 shines. Even under heavy load, it stays relatively cool thanks to efficient cooling systems and well-placed vents. In terms of connectivity, it covers all the bases with multiple USB ports, Thunderbolt support, and an HDMI port.Overall, the Alienware m16 R2 is a powerful gaming laptop that delivers on performance and design. It’s great for gamers and power users alike, though potential buyers should consider their needs for battery life and portability.Definitely an awesome laptop

Llego antes de lo previsto y la uso para correr el F1 24 en Vr con el Oculus Quest 3 y con un rendimiento medio corre sin ningún problema, juegos con menos latencia y menor demanda como el League of legends corren al 100% con gráficos en máximo

    Excellent performance!

Great product that you have to understand how to update before its use. After all your system has been updated, then you can enjoy it. The only thing that that I don’t like it’s the battery life. As for the rest it’s an excellent product.

Overall Great Laptop for the Price Tier

This laptop has met my expectations like each of the Alienware I’ve had before it. I do recommend getting one on sale so the perceived value is more in line with cheaper alternatives. Specifically for this model I like how slim it is, improved cooling, keypad feel, quieter fans, etc.

    Great for gaming

I’ve had this laptop for about 3 months now. I game on it pretty regularly. Always get high frame rates on high settings. So no complaint there. Yes it gets really hot while gaming around 82 degrees Celsius for the gpu. What I like about it is it pretty much stops using cpu and only uses the gpu while gaming. The charger does get hot but I have no need to touch it unless I’m just moving it around to get it out of the way. I’ve always wanted and Alienware and I’m 100% happy with what I bought and wouldn’t trade it for anything

Its not perfect but I still think it can do anything

This thing is a beast. I’ve got a number of other computers I use for different purposes and one dedicated to gaming but I’ve never been able to just crank the settings and get away with it before this one. While I’m not playing games as much as I used to it’s nice to know it can handle whatever I throw at it. You keep full framerates and everything just looks gorgeous. Yes; it plays Crysis. Somehow I glossed right over this being only 1080p but even on a 17″ screen I didn’t find myself wanting any more pixels. If you’re watching a movie on it with friends everyone will be able to see with perfect viewing angles everywhere. Physically it is a 17″ and there’s no getting around that however I was surprised how “thin” it really is vs what I was expecting from pictures. 7 lbs isn’t too bad at all when carrying it. No flex in the body and I like the soft-touch plastic that makes up the palm area. Most of what I use it for needs everything besides the graphics card and it shines there too. 5.7k 360 video editing isn’t a problem when the drive reads everything super fast and I can instantly scrub around the timeline. It really makes a workflow better when things just happen instantly. That’s true across the whole experience. Windows 11 is great on here with windows opening instantly and this pairs well with the 360Hz screen with absolutely everything being buttery smooth. For the fun of it I tried VMWare with an ubuntu desktop and was happy to see it had the power to have no issue letting me watch up to 1440p video in there too. I’m not being facetious when I say everything about the performance is everything I’d want. The only thing that irks me a little is having all the IO on the back. If you do need to plug something in it is very well lit back there but that fact that I have to go to the back at all gets to my lazy self. Good amount of IO for a laptop though. Also the power brick is massive. I do get that this thing is sucking down some juice so it makes sense. Battery life is… well it’s ok. If you’re using this much power gaming don’t expect it to last much beyond 4-5 hours if you’re hard on it. Even then if you’re putting in 4-5 hours of gaming it seems reasonable that you’d have access to a plug anyway. Lastly I’ll mention the sound. I was expecting the usual tinny speakers from this. I was dead wrong. You get a surprisingly full sound that even includes some base. It’s no replacement for external setups but it caught me off guard how good it was when I first tried out some videos. It’s a steep purchase so of course everyone will have different ideas value-wise but what I can say is that it effortlessly handled everything I threw at it without becoming a jet-fan. I think anyone would be happy with it. Not a lot to show picture wise that you wouldn’t already see in the product info but I included one showing the no-bad-viewing-angle.

A King with some flaws but still a king

This Big boy can easily be considered a King of the gaming laptop world. It’s large 17″ screen, hefty build structure, solid presence and powerful capability is what i wanted from an expensive gaming laptop and it delivers in those criteria sI got the NVIDIA 3070ti version with 16GB RAM which is plenty of power for modern day gaming. It’s built like a tank so if you are looking for thin and easy this might not be it but if you want a proper and big screen to game and what not this is it

    What a beast but I have a flawed machine*update*

*update this has been a huge headache, the monitor flickers and often forces the pc into sleep mode. Dell has sent a tech 3 times to replace damn near everything and the issue remains. I’m now being told to mail the system back so they can try to figure it out. I’ve had the machine 3 weeks and really can’t use it without this issue poking its head out so often it’s unusable. I really wish they’d just send me a replacement machine at this point it’s clearly faulty even after motherboard replaced, monitor replaced, fans and heat sink replaced, and have reset the system with clean install. C’mon Dell just own the issue of a faulty machine at this point and do right by the customer*First and foremost this thing is powerful. Beautiful display quality, and the design looks slick. That being said its not perfect but a machine this powerful you will expect some setbacks. She gets hot, so get a laptop pad that allows air to flow under more is a must, ones with fans will work a touch better. Just make sure its vented and not a flat surface, it makes a difference. The speakers do suck but who games with laptop speakers anyway? One thing to note is the white glove service you get from dell. My machine had a heating issue due to faulty cooling parts. Dell was absolutely helpful and sending a tech to my home to repair it onsite. You dont get that service many places at all. For that alone its a 5 star machine. 10/10 would recommend this if its in your budget and you need the power.
