Good laptop but the cord does not fully insert

This laptop is nice. The keyboard has colorful back lights which provides a cool visual! The battery life is good and it has relatively quick processing speed. The biggest issue is that the plug doesn’t fully insert into the computer. Thankfully it still charges but it worries me that it hangs out halfway.

    Solid Laptop – Minor Quirks

I’ve been having a blast with this little laptop. The 4070 graphics card handles games like Cyberpunk and Mullet Madjack flawlessly. I’ve been playing both all week without issue. I’ve listed Geekbench results and Cyberpunk benchmarks, and overall it performs well for a small form laptop. However, it needs to be plugged in to reach its full potential and can sometimes feel laggy when unplugged, even for minor tasks which is annoying. Might need to remove some of the bloatware to see improvement there. Would be nice if it gets optimized in a future update. Additionally, the onboard Ethernet is a nice touch, allowing me to use the Quest 3 from anywhere in the house. As someone who built their own, 4090/i9/128gb RAM/18TB, this is obviously underwhelming for certain tasks I do but when I just need to do some work in Excel or doing some traveling, this will get me through just fine.

    Amazing hardware, well executed

I’ll start with the weird thing. The power adapter doesn’t plug in all the way to the end of the rubber part. I included a photo to show you what I mean. The power still works, it just doesn’t go in all the way. I don’t know why. That said, I love this thing! The processor and GPU are both very powerful. The keyboard types pretty well. Key layout is good overall. The biggest things I’ve had to get used to is that the right shift key has the up arrow to the right of it, and the End key to the right of that.I wish there were more USB ports, but it does have two USB A and two USB C. It has a headphone jack and ethernet. The headphone jack supports combined mic/headphone setup. The screen is very pretty. Colors are robust and the refresh rate is very good.Overall, a great value. I recommend this as a good machine for gaming and “regular” PC usage.

Review of the Gigabyte Aorus 16X (2024) with unboxing video

The media could not be loaded.

This model is outfitted with an i7 14650HX (16 core), 32gb DDR5 5600 RAM, 1TB SSD and an RTX 4070 8gb. Other nice additions are the inclusion of Wifi7 and a Thunderbolt 4 connector.BUILD QUALITY: Excellent. The entire shell is made of plastic. That being said, this is high quality plastic that doesn’t look or feel cheap. Case rigidity is good and there is little to no keyboard flex when typing. Keyboard feels nice enough to type on, with concise but shallow keystrokes (comes with the territory on a laptop). It will attract some fingerprints, but it is easy enough to clean off with a microfiber cloth.SCREEN: Good. The screen is a 16:10 aspect ratio IPS panel. Color gamut is good with 100% sRGB (every panel will vary some) as well as brightness with 400 nits peak – you will not get the deep blacks of an OLED display, but it does get bright enough for most use. It also has a 165hz refresh rate with Nvidia Gsync. Resolution is 2560×1600. No complaints here. No touchscreen but the built in camera works for Windows Hello.SOFTWARE: Ok. This may be one of the biggest criticisms about this system, not because it doesn’t work; it actually allows for a decent amount of customization. As other reviews have mentioned, the translation is subpar and can make things a bit hard to understand at times or just simply funny to read (not in a good way mind you). Otherwise, the Gigabyte software allows for customization of the RGB keyboard and fan profiles (this also translates into power profiles, which is one of things lost in translation):• Power and Normal: Reasonable amount of fan noise, allows CPU to boost to 135W under full load• Turbo: Maxes out fans, very loud, allows CPU to boost up to 155W peak.• Eco: Expect lower levels of performance as this is typically used to keep the system quiet and/or run on battery. Fan profile is quiet.PERFORMANCE: Excellent plugged in; Ok on battery. Consider your goals when using a product like this. If you want a desktop replacement than you can move with relative ease, this would be a strong contender for your money. When plugged in, the i7 really stretches its legs and can compete with numerous multicore desktop CPUs, this thing is FAST. It is also power hungry using anywhere from 135-155W under load depending on your power profile. Temperatures are kept in check pretty well as the system failed to thermal throttle under the heaviest loads- the fans can get loud but with some tuning they can be kept under control. You are also getting a laptop RTX 4070 GPU with this unit (which is the equivalent of a 4060ti desktop GPU). While Nvidia’s 40 series GPUs have been well known for their performance to efficiency ratio, consider what resolution you are trying to play games at as this is a 2560×1600 display. AAA titles will require a change in resolution, lowering graphical settings and/or the use of DLSS to achieve higher framerates. Period. That being said, it is still a performant GPU, so just be sure to set your expectations accordingly. On less intensive titles you are going to have a good time! GPU thermals are also great and best of all, this fully sees the 4070 get up to 140W peak power! This has been a well-known problem on a lot of laptops as the 4070s get limited to the performance of a 4060 if power limits are low.On battery, well, this laptop is a different story. There are better options out there to achieve good battery life, namely most AMD offerings. A large 99 Wh battery does help matters here, but you will still be limited to maybe 2 hours of limited gaming (it will not operate at full power), or else lighter normal use may yield you closer to 5-6 hours tops depending on your screen brightness and limiting other functions. Performance on both the CPU and GPU also falls off quite a bit as the system tries to extend battery life.OVERALL: Good. I would recommend this laptop to someone wanting a performance workstation that can be easily moved around. While one of the features of a laptop is technically portability and usefulness on battery (including good battery life), there are other reasons why someone would use a laptop as their main system. This is not the most efficient system out there as most Intel CPUs just cannot compete with AMD’s efficiency- however, you get the trade-off of pretty awesome computing performance. Throw in the great build quality and nice specs that this system comes with, you can probably look past its downfalls. Again, it comes down to how you want to use it.OTHER RANDOM BITS: As others have pointed out, the plug for the power supply sticks out a bit and doesn’t sit flush; it is very secure and is not loose, so while not pretty, it doesn’t appear to be at risk of just falling out. As mentioned before, the keyboard is good to type on and has good feedback but the clear keycaps over the WASD keys makes them virtually illegible- not really an issue if you can type by feel.

Good hardware held back by loud fans and poor software

TL;DR: It’s the title, basically. The look and feel of this gaming laptop is good, but because of unoptimized software and fans that can get extremely loud when gaming, it’s not one I can recommend unless available at a significant discount. Read on for more detailed impressions, broken down by category.Design/Build/Ports: The 2024 update to the Aorus line brings a nice, clean look with the deep blue finish a particular highlight. The metal and plastic chassis has a quality feel. The side air exhaust vents unfortunately push the ports toward the front of the laptop, which can be awkward. On the left from back to front are the power input (240W with a nice, compact adapter), Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, USB-A 3.2 10 Gbps, and a USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port that supports up to 100W of power delivery. The right has USB-A 3.2 10 Gbps, a second USB-C that’s 3.2 10 Gbps with DisplayPort video out, microSD card reader, and headphone/microphone combo jack. Removing the bottom panel reveals two upgradable memory and M.2 storage slots, along with the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology.Screen/Keyboard/Touchpad/Speakers: At 2560×1600 resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate, the screen is sensible for the hardware. I don’t have the tools to do an exact measurement, but those who do report 100% sRGB color gamut coverage and around 70-80% of AdobeRGB and DCI-P3. So it’s more than sufficient for gaming, but content creators who do color-critical work will want to look for something else.Keyboard feel is just OK – better than most Acer and Razer laptops but well below Alienware, Asus, or Lenovo. Key travel is sufficient, but the bottom out sensation is rather mushy. Backlighting is separated into zones rather than per-key, which is disappointing given the somewhat premium pricing. There’s also lighting on the back that projects the Aorus logo, which I find pretty tacky. There’s no numpad but a row of dedicated home, end, page up, and page down keys on the right side. I appreciate having them, but this means the trackpad is off-center. Speaking of the trackpad, the glass finish is very smooth. It’s easy to manipulate and accurate. Because it’s off-center from the keyboard, it needs to have excellent palm rejection, and for the most part it’s true. I’ve had a few instances where I could see the mouse cursor move while typing, but it wasn’t enough to be a bother. The speakers are just sort of there – reasonably loud but practically no bass. They’re fine in a pinch, but you’re going to want to use headphones whenever possible.Software/Performance/Battery Life: This is where the Aorus 16X ultimately falls apart. It starts with the Gigabyte Control Center (GCC), the main software hub for the laptop. I’ve owned gaming laptops from most every manufacturer and can say with confidence that GCC is far and away the worst. It’s confusing/hard to use and bloated with unnecessary junk like stable diffusion image generation. What’s worse is pretty much everything you’d want to do in terms of controlling things like the power profile, display refresh rate switching when running on battery power, and more are completely reliant on the software. Other gaming laptops like the Lenovo Legion offer simple keyboard shortcuts to do these things without needing to touch the software. That’s not the case with the Aorus. Changing power modes requires opening the software, navigating menus, and several mouse clicks. Even being able to right-click the system tray icon to do this would be welcome. As for what this laptop is like to game on, my feelings are mixed. While the hardware can deliver solid performance, the fan noise is what will likely be a deal-breaker for most. Of course, putting high-performance components into a cramped space will generate a lot of heat that has to go somewhere, but other laptops can manage this much better than the Aorus.I primarily tested Cyberpunk 2077 at 1920×1080 resolution, ultra settings but with no ray tracing or upscaling. In the “normal” performance mode, I saw minimum and average frame rates of 60 and 75, respectively. I recorded the fans at 54 decibels sitting about 2 feet from the laptop, but their high-pitched nature made it seem like they were much louder than that. The maxed out “gaming” power profile increased frame rates to a 74 minimum and 89 maximum with the fans screaming at 58 dB. Dropping to the “power saving silence” option reduces the game to 49 fps minimum and 60 average, but fan noise is just 45 dB. So while it’s absolutely playable in the power saver mode, you’re leaving quite a bit of performance on the table, which kind of defeats the purpose. In the 3DMark stress test, the laptop got a passing grade of at least 99% across all performance profiles. For everyday use, as long as you keep it in the power saver mode, the laptop generally stays quiet, though the fans will spin up from time to time. Battery life is anywhere from 4-5 hours of web surfing, office, and video streaming with the display at 30 percent brightness and the refresh rate at 60 Hz. The left USB-C port allows for charging at up to 100W so for light use or for topping off the battery so you won’t need to bring the stock 240W adapter with you if you don’t need the laptop’s full power.Overall, the Aorus 16X is a laptop I wanted to like, but the excessive fan noise and terrible software make it difficult to recommend over comparably priced offerings from other manufacturers. Unless it’s available at a deep discount, you’ll be better off looking elsewhere.

All Gamer store me brindo la atención correspondiente.

Solid Performance Marred by Persistent Screen Glitches

After three months of use, this laptop has shown it can handle a variety of tasks, from gaming to surface modeling, with a commendable performance. The GPU is good, but not great. Perhaps I was expecting more from a 3070, but it’s important to note that it’s a mobile GPU, not a desktop, so it’s not an apples to apples comparison .While the graphics performance is satisfactory, the laptop is plagued by recurring screen glitches. When the laptop wakes from sleep, the screen often becomes distorted, necessitating a hard reset to recover. This problem is particularly frustrating when working outside the office without a secondary monitor. Despite having installed all updates, the glitch seems to be a driver issue that’s challenging to resolve independently. If it weren’t for the workaround of using an external display, this defect might have warranted a return. I give it 7 out of 10 stars.

    What happened to QC?

Surprisingly the 14900hx on this laptop performs slightly worse than the 13900hx in the Lenovo legion pro 7i. Thermals are decent enough. However, there are some sharp edges on the plastic all around and worst of all, the charger does not enter the port jack all the way! There is a you tube review where you can see the same issue, which indicates poor quality control. Overall this laptop is not worth the almost $2,100.

Disappointing product in many ways. Made in china.

This has been a bit disappointing in many ways. Nothing detrimental enough for me to want to return it and endure the restocking fee but I really don’t like it. Problems:1, Mediocre keyboard – yes it is one of the few 16″ laptops with a number pad but the 0 key on the number pad is half wide and my thumn which is responsible for pressing the 0 button always hits the right arrow to the left of the 0 key. The tactile feedback of the keyboard is also pretty bad but that may be a personal taste issue.2, With all the wizbang RGB lighting, there is no indicator LED for caps lock and num lock. Srsly? How much was saved by not having two cheap LEDs?3, The RJ45 Ethernet port in the back is poorly proportioned. It snags on every cable. I have to wiggle a cable up and down to get it unplugged.4, Gigabyte doesn’t sell its own PSU as a standalone item. If I want a second PSU, I have to get it after market. And Gigabyte’s output voltage and amperage are different enough from other mainstream competitors like Dell, HP, and Asus that I can use their PSUs.5, With all the support made in Taiwan hoopla Gigabyte makes, this thing is made in the people’s republic. I was all excited about having a laptop not make in china. The above aside, it functions as a desktop replacement well enough if I connect a real keyboard to it. But using it as a standalone laptop is really hard to tolerate.

    Killer laptop, questionable translations

I’m always questioning validity when getting products from all gamer store and getting a Gigabyte product with such horrible translations make me very wary. I’ve had several Gigabyte products before with not-so-perfect translations before though, but this is a new level of poor. Luckily, these translations don’t matter much outside of the Gigabyte software part because everything else is regular Windows. The quality of this laptop is great; super nice finish with a subtle hologram eagle and Aorus on the lid. The lid hinges feel great and not too tight, so the hinges should have a pretty long life. The laptop is filled with RGB, from a projected Aorus at the back of the laptop, plus lights all over the outside to the lit-up keyboard.Luckily, the memory and drive space can be expanded. As seen in my picture, both the memory and current SSD are removeable, plus there’s an additional empty slot for another SSD. Though it doesn’t look like they want you opening the laptop up to do these upgrades, the screws are all star heads and two of them have stickers over them to look like you break warranty, though I’m not sure if you actually do.The performance is way better than I was expecting for a 4070. I’m not really sure what the other reviewers are complaining about, I’ve been getting over 60 fps at max settings in pretty much every game I’ve tested, including Halo Infinite and No Man’s Sky which can be pretty intense. Often it gets up to the 90s, which is great for this 165hz display. There were a bunch of default settings that needed to be changed over to performance, so maybe that’s where other’s issues were. The display is also nice and bright, and the audio is loud and sounds really good. There is tons of ventilation, and when the laptop really starts working, the fans can get very loud, but that’s a price you’ll pay with any gaming laptop. As a basic gaming laptop, this is a great buy, it provides a good amount of power for the price and should keep you gaming for a couple years until it becomes inevitably obsolete.Unfortunately, the keyboard is one of the downsides causing the loss of a star, because the WASD+QER are all clear caps with white text and nearly impossible to see when the lights are on.Another downside is the touchpad can be super unresponsive sometimes and acts like a connected device in Windows and will randomly disconnect and reconnect, usually after exiting a game. Half the times tapping doesn’t seem to work and the clicking doesn’t work. I think it might be that the touchpad isn’t actually able to clicked everywhere, and there are specific zones for left and right click that you can’t see on the touchpad itself since it’s blank. The tapping seems to be required to happen in the zones as well instead of one or two finger like any standard touchpad now. I’ve tried messing around with settings and downloading different drivers and can’t seem to improve it.Another thing I don’t like is the power plug is located in the middle of the side, and the barrel doesn’t go all the way in. It’s not very good if you’re using it on your lap, or somewhere not on a desk, because the risk of damaging the port could be very high.

The laptop is great for work and gaming. I appreciate the quality, speed, and value of the laptop. Pretty nice

Arrived well packaged. Performance wise I haven’t had any issues as of yet. The fans can be a little loud sometimes but it doesn’t bother me much as if I am gaming I have a headset anyway. The look and feel of this laptop is nice and I really like the lighted back light and the options available to customize all the lights. I thought it was cool that the gaming keys were a different color, but quickly changed my mind on that. The letters are incredibly hard to see on the clear keys especially with the lights going. As others have mentioned the power plug doesn’t go all the way in to the laptop. It doesn’t seem to effect anything but I just simply don’t like that. I do like the larger cursor pad this one has compared to my old one. Overall it’s a decent laptop but feels a tad overpriced for my liking.

    Fast laptop

I really don’t game, but I was desperate for a new laptop to replace my 10 year old dinosaur that could barely run basic programs. Out of the box, I was impressed with the look of this. It has sleek lines and of course it lights up in all different colors. The one thing I didn’t like is how heavy it is. This is not going to be something I would want to carry around with me on a regular basis. The power box itself weighs almost as much as the computer and neither is light. I was not disappointed with the speed of this though. The computer itself is lightning fast and super responsive. I downloaded some large programs right away and they took only a few minutes rather than half a day to download and install. The mouse area on this is nice and large and the keyboard is set up well for the way I type, with the keys being super responsive. Admittedly, I use an external mouse and keyboard the majority of the time, but it’s nice to have the option of not taking all that with me if I travel. The screen was what impressed me the most. The images are crystal clear and the color is amazing. I also like that it’s a matte screen rather than a shiny one because it cuts down on glare. Honestly, for what I am going to be using it for (work & photo editing), this is perfect and I would definitely recommend it.

    better than my old laptop

I haven’t messed with Gigabyte before. I compared my three computers, 2 laptops and 1 desktop. The only thing that put this ahead of my desktop, which has a 12700k and an A770 was DLSS. I pulled up Senua’s Sacrifice, this laptop got on average w/o DLSS about 5 more FPS than my desktop, with DLSS it just from almost 70FPS to 150ish on performance and 115 on balanced, it’s unfortunate when you have to lean on gimmicks/AI tools instead of raw performance. CPU, in Cinebench this laptop on single core score was 1854 and multi core was 19495. My desktop got 1811 on single core and 21188 multi core. I get comparing a laptop to a desktop may not be the best judge but as for my old laptop, it’s got a GTX1650 max-q and 10500h, literally the cheapest laptop I could find at the time, enough said. Oh, this laptop also passes the one hand open test, which is super satisfying. There is plenty of airflow, unfortunately tho when running Cinebench the max temp hit 96c and I even had it on a cooling pad. Overall, a nice laptop, lots of storage and RAM, GPU is ok, CPU is good, I just expected more from latest gen hardware. The portability is great.

    Nice and Portable

I wanted to wait a bit before giving my opinion and thoughts on this easy to travel with laptop. It’s now been a bit over two weeks and here are my impressions. I promise I won’t make this a huge review since others have posted benchmarks and gone into deep details, I will just give the good and bads for me personally. Just so you know I am coming from a Major Brand 17in 4k screen with a Nvidia 2080, that’s enough specs just so you have an idea, I will cover my thoughts using that experience as a guide. One thing I loved about the gigabyte was its overall size and thickness made it so easy to take with me when leaving the home, my majorbrand not so much, it was a tank. My experience starting the Gigabyte was heaven it booted right up and went into set up quickly. With the gigabyte I lifted the lid hit start it led me to Wi-Fi password screen added password and downloads for windows started and 30 minutes later windows were done. Others have complained about the Giga command center, but I found it really easy to use and right away the software told me new firmware needed to be installed. It clearly walked me through the update letting you know what will happen during the process and everything was smooth. The 2k display is clear and easy to adjust as is the included Nvidia graphics card. For me personally I found gaming to be better than what I had, and it should have been. Overall working experience on this is a breeze and fans do ramp up when workload dictates it. As for gaming, I don’t like using DLSS can’t stand adding frames to anything, be it movies and certainly not games. It runs all my old games without issues like BO3, and COD WW2, Doom etc, play smoothly with this laptop. Some new AAA games I have to dial down the setting a bit to keep solid frame rates, but that’s to be expected in a laptop. Both WIFI and wired network work well on this unit, zero dropout on Wi-Fi and zero on Bluetooth when tested to wireless headphones. My dislikes: The opening for the fans isn’t good enough causing the computer to run warmer the holes are just too small. They advertise this as their gaming line but don’t feed it enough air, so fans ramp high on normal settings. The power cord, it sticks next to all your plug ins may become an issue. They should have put it on the back or at least made the connection flush or used a different type of connector. This laptop gets loud but so does the major brand trying to cool the graphics cards, I just wished they would have down a better air intake design.Passible: Audio is ok for the size of the unit, its average at best. I use a separate dac/amp on the laptop so my headphones with Mic plugged into that. With that unit audio isn’t an issue. The webcam works well for what it is, but our cheap computer for the grandchild actually has a screen that slides over the camera lens this doesn’t offer that.Overall, this is a well-rounded laptop, very flexible at what it can do and a pleasure to transport compared to other company’s laptops. Sorry the review was longer than intended, 4 stars.

Very nice laptop, but english is very roughly translated.

I needed a laptop for my work. I also like playing video games in my spare time. This laptop did both things perfectly. It’s very fast and efficient. The fans are pretty loud sometimes, but they do keep the laptop cool. It’s all plastic, so I do have to be careful when using it for my job. Battery life is great. The charger does look a bit weird because the barrel plug does not sit flush with the laptop. It works just fine, but looks cheap. My biggest gripe is the English translation. They translated it very rough. There’s a lot of text where it’s obvious that they just used a translator and threw it up there. Overall, this laptop is a huge upgrade to my old one, and I’m very happy with it.

    I like it!

Very fast, excellent graphics and resolution, good sound for a laptop, backlit keyboard with adjustable colors and brightness, I’m impressed with this Gigabyte-Aorus laptop. It seems solid and well built, it’s a bit on the heavy side. I don’t like the position of the power cord (it would be better closer to the back) or the fact it sticks out enough that it doesn’t look like it’s pushed in all the way, but as far as performance it surpasses my expectations. I’m very happy with it.

    Best gaming laptop I’ve had

This is the best gaming laptop I’ve ever had. The graphics and performance are peak, and it has so much more storage than I thought it would. The quality of laptop is super sleek in the packaging was amazing. My laptop runs better than my friends which is $3000 so I would say the value of money is absolutely amazing.

    Great gaming laptop

I am reviewing this laptop as a common laptop user that just started gaming. The setup process was a little bit tedious and frustrating. For some reason, the system was not able to connect to the app store and kept saying that the license was not correct with this device. I believe this has more to do with the system than the actual laptop though. The quality of the videos and the screen are pretty good! I love how clear and beautiful the graphics look when I played on Xbox online on the cloud. The games run smoothly, they are fast, and I had little problems.I like how much storage this has at 1TB which is a good amount for what gamers might need to keep and play their games. The RAM is at 32GB which I’ve read is pretty good for a laptop.Something I don’t like about this laptop is the position of the charger port and the speakers. The charger port is on the left side and it’s weirdly made where the charger does not plug in all the way. It sticks out which could make it easier for the port to be damaged as the cord could pull out or move the charging port.I really like how the keyboard lights up and the main gaming keys are accented so that you can easily find them. It’s a pretty heavy laptop so I wouldn’t use it for portability, but for having at home to move around and game, I’d say it’s a pretty good laptop.

Amazing laptop but the 4070 is weak

Ended up returning this since the 4070 is pretty weak. Went with a 2024 17x with a 4080 instead and it’s much better. The fit and finish and looks of the Aorus laptops are second to none imo.

    Very good product. Would recommend

I’ve been using this laptop for over a month now. Minus the fact that it is only 512gb, it is powerful enough for any task given.
