GREAT BUDGET RIG FOR BELT & LOW DD SETUPS

Bought a G920 years ago and rarely used it because of the hassle with desk mounting, sliding chair, etc. Got back into sim racing and this was my first upgrade…and I must say it’s ALMOST exactly what it says. I’ve used it for hours every day since I got it (several months) and no issues with the quality!PROS1) Well constructed and easy setup2) Folds up easily, very small footprint3) Easy mounting for belt drives & low power DD wheel bases4) Slight flexing but not really noticeable & much better than expected!5) Pedal position adjustment is SO simple, and plenty of distance for tall 6’ plus sizes6) Much more comfortable than expected, no issues with hour long (or more) sessions, relatively easy to get in/out ofCONS1) Biggest complaint, no sliding adjustment for wheel to seat distance. If you want the wheel farther away, you have to lower the whole chair to increase the distance from wheel mount to seating position. Basically, I have to sit F1 style to get the wheel out of my chest (I’m 6’ tall) and it’s still almost too close. I get why you can’t “slide” the chair position (it IS a folding setup after all) but would like to have seen some slide adjustment on the wheel mounting plate at the least. That would have made this almost perfect!CONCLUSIONFor a first entry, budget, small footprint, all-in-one fold up solution, this rig is ALMOST perfect. Craftsmanship is excellent for the price and suprisingly rugged/robust. All mounting hardware was included, and as stated, setup was simple. Adjustability is fine for most, could be better for taller people (only real complaint). As a side note, I just upgraded to my first DD wheelbase (Moza R5 Bundle) and it handles it fine. Was worried it would be too much for the rig but it’s perfectly fine with no more movement than the G920 which wasn’t really noticeable when driving anyway.Highly recommend this setup if you’re looking for an upgrade to your desk mount wheelbase and pedals. Made a HUGE difference in every facet of my driving from lap times to getting away from assists. Paired with the Moza R5 bundle, this rig finally gave me the confidence to jump into online multiplayer competition. If you’re a beginner like me, don’t have several thousand $ to spend, and most importantly, the wife won’t let you have a “permanent” rig…look no further, this is definitely the route to go!

Sturdy, budget friendly, easy to fold and store

Perfect for our occasional GT racing. Using with the Logitech G29 wheel/pedal set. Perfect fit. Build time took approx 30 min. Very light weight, yet surprisingly sturdy. Comfortable for a wide range of sizes from my 10 yr old son to me at 5’7 190 lbs with plenty of room to spare for those taller. Great amount of adjustability and ease to get in and out since the cross bar wheel mount lifts out of the way to enter and exit (with the wheel and everything mounted).Best part, super easy to fold up without removing the wheel or pedals. Very surprisingly compact when folded and light weight. Toss in the closet in 2 minutes.

Great chair that can be folded and tucked away

Just got mine delivered yesterday. It’s my first racing sim chair (along with my first racing wheel – Logitech G29) so I don’t have anything to compare it to. Overall, the quality is very good, chair is comfy, and it folds easily. Would def recommend to ppl who don’t want to have a chair permanently placed in their room. The only feedback I have is about the assembly instructions. It’s pictures only so it took me about 1.5 hours to get it fully setup with my wheel and pedals. The reason: the instructions don’t tell you nor are they detailed enough to tell you there are certain parts that need to be installed in a certain way. These are:1) How the front feet are attached to the “X” height adjusters. It needs to be installed so that the hole in the pipe is facing upwards; a screw goes into this.2) The front feet also need to be installed the right way so that the bar that slides out to the side is on the left side (this bar gives the chair stability when you ‘open’ or raise the wheel so you can get in/out of the chair. You’ll see a sticker on the tubing for the front and back feet. Both of these should be on the left side of the chair (when sitting in the chair).Side note: having a cordless drill helps to quickly get those allen bolts screwed-in, especially for the wheel and pedals.

    Works Well

It does what it says, and it folds as easily as any of them can. If you need to be able to “clear the room”, this is a good choice. Would a non-folding version be better? Well, sure, but that’s not what this was created for. I don’t like the shifter mounting solution, but there are after market options.Update: This is still a good Cockpit. It’s a compromise between portability and usability. Be aware, that it’s basically a lawn chair. If you have kids that are going to abuse it, then it probably won’t hold up.I did take off one star, one half-star for the poor shifter location previously mentioned (should have shipped with a better solution), and another half-star because the pin that holds the swing arm broke off already. It’s still usable, but now you have to hold the steering wheel in place while entering/exiting. I guess it’s also slightly less ridged, but that’s not noticeable to me. I haven’t seen anything I would like better, so this would still be my recommendation for a portable setup.

    Great budget cockpit

After upgrading a 15 year old Xbox360 to a SeriesX for my kids, I decided to purchase the Playseat Challenge X and a Logitech G923 wheel base. The Challenge X assembled quickly and easily with included instructions & hardware. I have no previous sim racing experience, but found this cockpit stable and comfortable for 30-40 minute sessions of Forza Motorsport with plenty of adjustment for both myself and my 10 year old to enjoy. And when we’re done, it folds compact enough to store out of the way. Not what I’d call “cheap”, but I’d highly recommend for someone who prefers a dedicated seat for driving games.

    I love this racing seat

This seat is worth every dollar. It was priced just right when I bought it too. Super high quality which you will realize when you assemble it. Everything comes together solidly. The colors are visually striking and my steering wheel mounts up perfectly. I use the chair, steering wheel, pedals and VR to do VR racing and the realism is out of this world. I’ve never enjoyed racing more than when I use this chair.

    Perfect for small spaces

I’m a big dude and I love this seat. Super sturdy and fits where I need it to fit in my our very small office/game room. The only negative is since I’m taller my head rests on the cross bar of the headrest. During longer sessions it starts to hurt. Nothing a head cushion can’t fix.

Great product for a beginner’s setup that saves space

It was easy to assemble, feels sturdier than I expected, and adjustments are great (I’m a tall guy and still found comfortable positions). When folded, saves a good amount of space. Also not hard to fold/unfold. I’m using it with Logitech products, so everything fits well and even stands on its own when folded without need to lean against a wall

Worth it! Folds when not needed or when need to move.

Having a dedicated driving seat is convenient. it being foldable also adds some portability should one need to move between rooms or floors. For example console(s) on first floor, PC(s) & other consoles on second floor.

    much better than I expected

I was worried that due to the seat’s foldability it would be wobbly and not sturdy. I was pleasantly surprised. I’m 6ft and 195lbs the seat works fine for my first racing sim. I love being able to transport and enjoy sharing the sim experience outside of my home with the ps2v2 and GT7

    Sturdy!

“First impressions of this thing are awesome! If someone is considering getting one to use with their PC, I’d say go for it! The immersion and positioning that this playseat offers is a huge step up from an office chair. Also, it’s worth noting for my larger friends: I’m 300 lbs and this thing easily supports my weight!”

    Stable chair

I’m 6’4” and I don’t have any issues with the reliability and sturdiness of this chair. My needs were fairly simple so it does everything I ask of it and it was priced appropriately.

    It’s good

If your in the market i would definitely recommend this seat. No issues to report works as advertised. I did get it for the folding up ability but I have not even bothered with that yet. Have it setup with logitech pro wheel and pedals. An unbelievable upgrade after using a g27 for the last 15 years or so.

    Fantastic

Did lot of research to replace what I was doing in limited space. This far exceeds expectations for comfort and stability. I only have to fold up petals and push out of way like 30 seconds for my space. If needed only takes few seconds to fold rest up.

Nice product except for one major flaw

Just sold my original playseat challenge and upgraded to this one, didnt realize when purchasing online but they removed the armrest that the original one had, not really sure why, but they did. Aside from that i like all the new gadgets it has

    Way better than I expected

looking at this it is easy to expect that this will not be comfortable or sturdy. I have this hooked up to a Logitech G923 and itdoes not have any isses with flex. Stronger wheels may not meet this same end but the more casual market should be fine. For people wanting something that is able to be folded up and moved out of the way, I cant image anything being better than this.

Nice if you have limited space.

Nice quality. Heads up, the blue locking handles on each side can loosen. So if you feel like you lock it in place it could be loose still. So tighten the locked handles by rotating them clockwise, before you lock It. If you install the Logitech Driving Force Shifter and plan on folding the chair for storage, you need to remove a mounting clamp. Look at the three mounting clamps. The third middle one that looks like a threaded bolt. You can remove that plastic part of the shifter since you don’t need it. There are 4 screws holding this part in. Once removed, folding the steering wheel with mounted shifter is better.

    Very nice product

Bought this afraid it would not be sturdy enough to handle a direct drive wheel (Logitech Pro), but it was totally worth it. Some vibration transfers from the wheel, of course, but that only enhances the experience.

    The BEST folding sim rig!!

This is an amazing piece of kit!!Feels quality when assembling the chair and is surprisingly comfortable in use.Paired with a Logitech G923 (Lots of other wheels are supported too) it’s a perfect solution for gamers who want a racing rig but also the option to quickly fold away. The wife doesn’t go crazy when I use the chair as knows it’ll be gone when I’m done ????Bit pricey but it’s the best option out there imo and the older (cheaper) playseat is still a good chair… But this is better in every way if you can get it.

    Excellent, but not perfect

When I saw some articles that this came out, I was intrigued. I always assumed Racing Rigs took up a lot of space and when I saw that this folded up and was a reasonable price, I was pretty much sold. Before I pulled the trigger on this, the articles had mentioned that this was pretty much an update on the original Playseat Challenge, which I also hadn’t heard of until now. I actually went and put in an order for the original and a shifter mount. When I went back and looked at this and realized that it wasn’t too much more, and that this included a shifter mount and tilted pedals. I decided to try this instead. My first impression when I got this was that it was quite a bit heavier than I had anticipated. This is good as it’ll help ensure its stable. When comparing this to pictures of the original, there are definitely a few things they’ve improved. The biggest one is that the seat can lock into position now. The original relied on straps to hold the angle of the seat. In this version, they have quick-release locks on both sides which allows you to adjust the angle every 6 degrees. (I counted ~30 teeth halfway around). The nice thing about this is that there aren’t any straps to get in the way.The next thing are the brackets to tilt the pedals. It’s nice that this was included. I won’t have to worry about modding things. One thing I don’t particularly like is the shifter mount. The shifter mounts on a bracket which is screwed in at the same level as the wheel. This puts the shifter high up and right next to the wheel, which is really no different than playing on a table. I’m printing a shifter mount for the original Playseat Challenge and will give that a try.The seat angle has labeled settings 1 through 6. I find that for settings 1 – 3, the wheel is too close or too high for me. I’m not sure who these settings are for, maybe for taller folks? I’m only 5′ 6″ and relatively small. 4 – 6 work fine for me, and the chair won’t move beyond 6. It would have been nice if the wheel had more adjustability. Now, I haven’t actually tried this thing out, which I’ll do later today. I have a Logitech G25 mounted on it.

The adjustment knobs for broke after 2 days

The adjustment knobs for extending and retracting the pedal tray are made of plastic. They broke on day 2. Apparently lots of talk about this in the forums, and you’re supposed to drill into them and use proper screws. Too much faff for a brand new rig, so I returned it. Otherwise it’s very comfortable and no issues there.
