    Excellent Bang For The Buck

The instructions were well done and very clear, and the installation was pretty smooth after the initial package opening. The seat is much more comfortable than I originally thought and supports tons of hardware configs. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a start with simpits. Will certainly order more from SimFab.

It comes in several colors and multiple configurations.

This chair is the Swiss army knife of Game Sim chairs, and pretty comfortable too.

    Sturdy

Ordered DCS edition, the review is for the product and customer service experience with SimFab.First up the Flight Sim Modular Cockpit: Extremely well built and durable. The construction is very well thought out. For each modular component there is the ability to put either a large knob/handle set screw or use a more flush allen wrench set screw. These set screws are substantial, much larger than they need to be to hold a module in place, see photo of tools and set knob. The knob set screw allows you to be able to take off and quickly swap out modules or quickly stow away the sim pit.Quick tip if you order the arm rests and the seat riser, install them both at the same time. Look at the arm rest instructions first… Don’t be me and install risers first only to find out that you need those loosened to install the arm rests. Each module comes with individual instructions for that particular module so it is easy to miss this small detail. They also include items that no one else would think twice about but show the amount of thought the manufactures put into this equipment. Velcro strips for cable management, felt pads for base stands, each bolt has washers with lock washers. For each type of manufactured joystick, throttle, rudder, each has a labeled individual package for that particular piece of hardware. A complete set of tools for assembly. Hands down outstanding kit, worth every dollar! Why did I have to use customer service?Box came pretty beat up and had a hole in the side. Due to this I came up short on one center plate with mounting hardware… After contacting customer service, Dimitar had a replacement part, tracking number on the way. This was on a Saturday that he responded ! That alone makes this company far superior to any other simulation cockpit on the market !

    Look no further!

Very modular setup with tons of adjustability. I have been looking for a simpit setup for a while now and this holds everything i need it to with my Winwing peripherals. Crazy amounts of adaptability. Has every tool you need as you can see from other pics. There are so many extra parts for every setup imaginable. Also this setup comes with risers already! I ordered them separately and they cancelled that on their own without my knowledge because they knew i didnt need them, unreal customer service! Will look at them for products first.

    Fantastic Product as Always

I have come to expect products from SimFab to be pretty good quality and this is no exception. These guys hit the nail on the head when it comes to design and assembly. I had an original Open Wheeler racing chair from many years ago that has stood the test of time and a couple of moves. I had used it for many racing sim games and a couple of flight sim games and it was built to last. This product is no different. Built in Florida, shipping is fast and easy. The product itself is all metal construction and taking into account that not all folks have the tools to assemble such a product on hand, they ship ALL tools needed to assemble the product. The chair is quite comfortable and the framework lends itself to some personal modification, if wanted. With the multiple addons the SimFab offers, this chair will never be “out of date” and is constantly ready for that next aircraft or spacecraft cockpit setup. I can’t speak highly enough about the product and look forward to further modifications as my flight sim tastes change.I will note the only “con” is that if you order several different addons, like I did, it’s very easy to confuse the instructions and have to disassemble some parts after you’ve completed assembly on so that you can accommodate your addon. While this could probably be avoided by planning out your assembly, it does tend to be a little daunting when you have multiple pieces that you’re assembling and adding on to the main frame. Not worth a reduction in the rating, though, as the instructions are fairly clear and have pictures for reference on assembly.

    God lumbar support. Good SimPit.

TL;DR – Won’t work with 1:1 VR WinWing peripherals. Comfortable seat. Center stick cutout could be wider and deeper (Roll and Nose up direction). Great modular option for DCS. Would definitely recommend ad a sinpit option. As you can see in my pictures I have WinWing peripherals and a big-@$$ Monitor. I’ve tried trackIR and VR with this SimPit. The MiP add on isn’t modular enough to really 1:1 “feel” real hardware to in-game VR projection. AND when you buy the MiP add on… Use the UFC/HUD bar to mount the Left and Right DDI. If you mount the DDIs on the upright vertical bar like they show, you’ll smash your shins on the bottoms of the DDIs.The Lower AMPCD needs to be able to telescope out and in closer to mesh up with the test of the winwing unit. The HUD controls really don’t meah up with the lower AMPCD.In regards to VR compatibility- I added some blind accessibility silicone stick-ons to assist in finding buttons. Switching to VR with tactile hardware reminded me of the movie “Naked Gun” and Frank Drebin’s quote: “Like a blind man at an orgy, I’d have to feel things out”. In VR this system is lacking 1:1 feel… still waiting for augmented reality. I find myself using the mouse with “Look-and-click” in VR for the most efficient way to navigate the cockpit’s equipment.I’d say disregard the BS Boeing seat which apparently ruins your lower back and go with this kit.

    Outstanding

The sim pit arrived in one large box. Inside was the contents of several sub-kits for the chair. All have their own color manuals, so, you will hop from one to the other when building this kit. It comes with everything as described. I have a Virpil CM3 throttle, CM3 base, T50 Mongoose stick & 200mm extension, and have been looking for a center mount option for some time. This setup works perfectly. The kit includes predrilled, counter-sunk plates that mate perfectly with my CM3 base and throttle. It also includes hardware specific for each of the major brands of HOTAS. I used the included chair extensions to get some height and the stick is now at a perfect height, so that I can rest my hand on my leg while holding the stick (T50 mongoose). I have yet to add the rudder pedal plate (no rudder pedals atm). Mounting the chair-back onto the seat was the toughest par , but only took a few minutes. I purchased this instead of going with the B*eing sim-pit as it has native support for a center stick. I have only put about an hour of use into it but everything seems great. I highly recommend this sim pit if you want a center stick mount option. WTG SimFab!

    Fits like a glove

This is hands down the best gaming seat for a flight simulator, especially for DCS. What’s great about the seat is that it is modular and the manufacturer has tons of accessories for it.Customer service is firstclass , I had some questions I was given a thorough explanation. This seat is $300 cheaper than the nearerCompetition and they don’t have similar accessories. The seat is made in the USA and sturdily built.

Exactly what I needed and at a great price comparatively.

If you’re looking for a flight sim pit that won’t break the bank and is very well built this is your go to. I’m 6’4” 270 and I feel just fine on this thing and it’s solid. It looks great. It’s rather simple to assemble and comes with pre labeled packages for the nuts and bolts that go with your particular HOTAS setup. You can customize for your height with a recline-able seat back, a sliding seat, risers to sit higher off the floor and you can adjust the height and width of the stick and throttle mounts.I’m very impressed with this and would recommend it to anyone serious about simming. From order to delivery was about 2 weeks (as advertised).

    A Great Bargain!

SimFab thought of everything when designing and packaging this thing. They included hardware options for all types of sim hardware. The ONLY issue I ran into is the short bolts on the seat extension mounts – they are too long for the threaded holes. I would tell the manufacturers to include washers for each bolt. Adding two to each bolt did the trick. Or shorten the bolts by 3/16 inch. The seat is very comfortable, the adjustable heights on the side mounts are perfect, and the Warthog HOTAS mounts just fine! Next up, I want to get the MFD holder module!

Amazing product, phenomenal customer service, must have for DCS

I had pretty high expectations and didn’t necessarily want to pay for a sim pit considering how much I’ve already spent on my HOTAS. But, it’s worth every penny. Just a high quality product, love the modularity and how it’s a perfect fit for my WinWing peripherals. Customer service is excellent and extremely helpful. Will definitely be adding more parts and getting the conversion for my racing set up as well.

    Excellent versatility and value

This is a great value. It appears solid and well made. Maybe not actual Ferrari quality, but more than adequate for its purpose, with no frills. Just my style. I don’t want garish logos or bright colors. Hardware for mounting just about anything is included, even tools. You don’t need anything else to fully assemble it. It takes a while, as you might imagine, but it’s not difficult. The instructions are modular, like the pit itself, and they have clear drawings. You get everything you need to mount a throttle on the left (or right), a center stick AND a side stick if you want, plus the rudder pedal plate. Arm rests are not included, but I was looking for a seat without them anyway, for ease of ingress and egress. It sits a little lower than a typical office chair (about 15″ at the center of the stick cutout, and a little lower at a rear of the seat bottom) but I find the seating height is actually better than the chair I was using, with my 48″ monitor. My eye height is now at the center of the monitor instead of slightly above it as before. The fore-aft slide is almost necessary for easy ingress and egress and there is lots of adjustability all around. I can live with it, but I do wish I could get the throttle just a bit higher with a slightly longer vertical member for the 90° connector. The seat back isn’t quite as rigid as a car seat or a real airplane seat, but that makes sense since it does not need to withstand crash or movement loads, only static loads. It seems more than adequate for that. Overbuilding it would just make it more expensive and heavier. As it is, with the wheels, it isn’t hard to move around, but I leave my seat in place. It’s now my permanent seat, even if I’m doing office work. It’s very comfortable for me as well. I have tried a lumbar support but I don’t find it really necessary. That will be a matter for individual preference. A buddy of mine came over yesterday and tried it out. He may be another customer soon. The seat fabric feels of decent quality, but it’s a lint and cat hair magnet so I keep a lint roller nearby, as the black fabric shows everything. I just ordered a seat cover. Other optional accessories that I have looked at (but don’t need yet) seem reasonably priced for the most part. A big recommend if you are serious about simulation and don’t want to look too much like a fighter pilot wannabe.

Well built, well provisioned, well documented

Really great setup overall. Was extremely impressed with the way the product was packaged, organized, and documented. There is a ton of hardware included for assembly and compatibility. Adjustability is very good and modular approach is adaptable. I am using it with Virpil hardware but all major players are represented. In use with Torq pedals, CM3 throttle, collective, and CM3 center stick. Would heartily recommend this to anyone looking for a solid cockpit setup with a emphasis on worry free compatibility, potential for upgrades and modification, and reasonable price.

The Best Bang for your Buck

This purchase is well deserved of taking the time to write a review. To start off with, I own a business of mine own and have always provided the best possible service I could, where as most companies are done after the sale. This company exceeds any expectation that I could have imagined still possible. Someone answers the phone every time I have called, and a bonus, always friendly, understand English and knows their product and every product you are going to purchase for your sim pit. The price on what you receive is unbelievable compared with other products of the same quality, and then they throw in free shipping, wow. The product is solid and is a 5 minute swap out between modules for me. The chair is comfortable, I like the ease and adjustability of the mouse & keyboard add-on & the colorful instruction manuals are very nice and full of information with detailed part numbers & assembly, and real tools. Can’t say enough, just an awesome diamond in the rough. Thank you “D”.

Comfortable and robust. Assembly instructions could use some work.

SHIPMENTNo complaints here, it shipped in a timely manner. The shipping company (Fed-Ex I believe?) appeared to have used the box for batting practice, but the only damage I noticed was some minor cosmetic damage; The plastic on the seat adjustment handle had a chunk broken off but the steel core of the handle was perfectly fine and functional.ASSEMBLYThe assembly workflow is reasonably logical and flows nicely once you have a handle on what you’re doing, but the assembly directions I feel could use some work. They’re segmented out across several different booklets covering different configurations (for example with the seat mounted high vs low, with a center or side stick, etc), and I got the impression each booklet was written at a different time by a different person with no centralized template to follow, so some of them aren’t quite as clear and easy to follow as others and some of them don’t include a relevant parts list. Attaching the seat back to the bottom is a collossal pain in the butt when working solo, the seat cushions get in the way and you have to squish the seat back down and to the right fairly firmly, but also precisely, to get it lined up correctly; If it’s possible to do without damaging anything, I suggest the manufacturers consider using a longer bolt for the right side hinge for future models. That might give a bit more wiggle room on getting the bolt through and engaging the threads initially.NOTE: Bear in mind that if you want to use MFD bezels or UFC, the mount for those is sold separately! I did not read the listing carefully enough and was under the mistaken impression they were included which was a little disappointing.COMFORT AND UTILITYThe seat is very comfortable for long periods; I did a 3 and a half hour flight the other day and had zero issues with stiffness or pain by the end, which I definitely can’t say for my old seat. The throttle and side stick pedestals are designed so the bar supporting them can be oriented to point forward, to the side, or aft, giving you some wiggle room fore and aft when lining everything up initially, but most of your fine-tuning will be done by sliding the seat itself and the rudder pedal support plate. The center stick mounting bracket feels like a little bit of an after-thought, and if you use it there’s a narrow range of possible seat positions that you can’t really use due to the mount conflicting with the rudder pedal adjustment points. Not a big deal in the grand scheme, but something to bear in mind when you’re getting set up. Complete the initial assembly, figure out where you want the seat based on the center stick mount’s limitations, and then once you’ve got that sorted out you can mount and adjust your throttle (and if needed, side stick) pedestal/s.OVERALL IMPRESSIONSOverall I’m very happy with the seat so far. It’s comfortable, adaptable, and compared to some of the competitors on the market (especially if you want something with a center stick cut-out) it’s very reasonably priced.

Perfect fit for almost any flight controls on the market, high quality, low price.

I spend most of my PC gaming time flying DCS World. Over time, I invested heavily in WinWing control panels. I was generally happy with the results, but I wanted a better solution than desk clamps. This SimFab Modular Flight Simulator Pit is advertised as being “DCS edition” with at least one photo showing almost exactly the configuration I needed as you can see by comparing their photos to mine. This setup has several advantages over using desk clamps. It is far sturdier, so it won’t be damaged by supporting all that weight 24/7. That also means it is more rigid. The steel supports don’t deform much if at all under load. The panels do not exhibit any play or wobbling even at the end of a long, angled support with a decent amount of weight on it. It has custom mounting plates specifically designed to accommodate all of my controls complete with all hardware needed rigidly mount them. The most important advantage is the ability to arrange the controls to whatever geometry I prefer. When clamped to a desk, the main control panel and the 50″ 4K TV were too high. I mainly fly in VR, so the TV elevation wasn’t too critical. But I wanted the controls to match the geometry of the VR cockpits so that I can more easily find them while wearing the VR headset. Something to consider is WinWing control panels do not exactly match the size/shape of either the real-world or DCS virtual F/A-18C controls. That is not the fault of SimFab.When I choose to fly using the TV, I scale and center the view so that the panels on screen match the size and location of the real panels for a 1:1 life size view, similar to VR. I have the TV located just above the main panel. This means the center of the display is above my level line of sight. Many would consider that a problem. But for me it is perfect: I don’t need the TV display to show me the controls since I have real ones always in front of me at the correct location. I need it to show me what I would see straight ahead (the heads-up display) and above outside of the cockpit. A tall field of view is preferable for dogfighting as the target tends to be significantly above the normal line of sight while pursuing a shooting solution.Pros:1. Able to mount all of my hardware and adjust the physical geometry to match my preferences (nearly identical to the geometry of the VR cockpit and the real-world cockpit).2. Construction quality is very high: built to last.3. The price is comparable if not lower than the competition.4. Excellent customer support: you can call or message the company and get quick, honest answers.Cons:1. The configuration I needed that was shown in the photo with the large WinWing throttle and all of the control panels was advertised from the very start, but not available to purchase for quite some time.2. Delivery time. Modules that were available (TV stand, keyboard/mouse stand) arrived early while I was waiting for the DCS edition. At this point, I think everything you is now readily available, but you can always call/message SimFab to confirm what is in stock and what kind of delivery dates you can expect.3. Quality and sturdiness come at the price of weight and mobility. I have the wheels installed, but it is not very easy for a single person to move around, particularly in a smaller room. In my case, a lot of the weight is at the end that has to be lifted. The location of my TV makes it impossible to lift from the very end, or to lift it very much without touching the TV with the adjustable support strut sticking out behind it from the main control panel. I would prefer a slightly elevated platform on wheels that could be locked but would otherwise be easy to push out of the way for maintenance and cleaning the floor, which I may end up building.4. Aesthetics. The modular adaptability with extensive adjustability isn’t pretty. Some of the competing sim pit/seats look nicer. But I chose this one over the competition because SimFab 100% supported the configuration I wanted without having to modify anything. The add-on modules raise the price a bit, but you get what you pay for: something that perfectly fits your hardware with the ability to adjust the placement to match your wants/needs.If I could go back in time, I would still have picked this setup. I don’t think any others natively supported all of my hardware while at the same time being more expensive. Quality wise, I think it is going to be around and working perfectly long after I am dead.If you are serious about flight simulation and want to get rid of the desk, this is one of the best options available. All of the major brands are supported: WinWing, VKB, Virpil, Thrustmaster, etc. If you have something that isn’t natively supported, you can call customer support and they will help you find a solution if not fabricate a new part.

Wow. Incredible value for a full featured sim cockpit!

For starters, I’ve been drooling over these sim cockpits for years, watching in envy as others spent thousands of dollars to create a flexible platform for playing computer games. I specifically am interested in flight simulators (DCS World) while using VR. I am a pretty big guy (6’2″ 375lbs) and am always cautious about weight capacities and component strength. I can tell you without question that I fit into this cockpit comfortably and the unit is rock solid. I’m impressed at the simple but strong design that leverages simple square iron to augment capabilities. Because the kit was so affordable, I ordered a few additional accessories: keyboard tray, winwing joystick extensions, and bass shaker bracket. The bass shaker bracket is the only disappointing item, since it really wasn’t even necessary and was a bit expensive for what it was. The interesting thing is how well packet this unit was. It came in a single large box but was packed efficiently and with good packing material. It took a bit to unbox and assemble due primarily to the confusing multiple instruction sheets that are delivered. This is likely due to the modular nature of the system but it still made it difficult to follow at times. Once it is all together, you realize how simple it is and there are lots of different configurations so it is all good. The company includes EVERYTHING you need, even includes a handy tool bag with wrenches and the allen heads you need to assemble. The seat is quite comfortable and feels solid, I *think* it will hold up to my weight for quite some time. All-in-all, if you are considering a sim rig, I’d highly recommend SimFab products.

Great budget friendly combat flight sim cockpit

I’ve been searching for a proper simpit for a long time and have seen some really great alternatives to this one but for double the price. It’s an expensive hobby to get a premium hotas setup, computer, VR, and the never ending habit of buying DCS modules (I don’t need a new module. I gotta learn this one… ooooh F4 phantom. Nevermind I need it) so I was really wanting a budget friendly proper cockpit. This one fit the bill!It has *mostly* everything I need.✅ center cutout on the seat✅ center mount that can accommodate a 200mm stick extension✅ability to move out of the way so I can sit at my desk for general computer use…aka reading Chuck’s guide.✅adjustability to set up proper ergonomicsI was previously using premium desk mounts which were great but really hard to find a sweet spot ergonomically. Plus my computer chair didn’t have a locking piston so I’d slightly twist when applying rudder. Detaching all of the desk mounts to use my desk a computer desk was also a slight hassle. This has solved *most* of that.Setup was pretty simple. They include a plethora of instructions along with pictures.I will say the throttle attachment plate for me was the biggest hassle. They didn’t really explain how to attach the Virpil throttle to the plate properly. You basically have to preset the screws that will go into the plate and base of throttle first and then attach the plate to the 90 degree arm. Then screw the throttle screws in. If you don’t do this then there’s no way to get the screws into the attachment plate and throttle once the plate is on the arm because the holes are blocked. Hard to explain but you’ll instantly realize it once you do it.I also couldn’t figure out how to attach both my Virpil collective and control panel together so I currently have my control panel desk mounted. I think they’re releasing something to solve this problem.Other than that everything else was great. I feel much more comfortable sitting in this than my previous setup. The adjustability has helped relieve the shoulder pain I was experiencing before this setup.I have my buttkicker clamped to the riser blocks. I thought it came with a mounting option by default but guess not. No big deal as you don’t need one if you have the newer model of buttkick which has the clamping ability.I did add my collective to the setup which isn’t part of the official setup. I believe they should be releasing an actual collective attachment point soon (hopefully they design it so it can be quickly moved/lowered so the throttle can be moved closer to the body). I’m currently attaching the Virpil collective with a piece from the Virpil universal chair mount. It’s attached to the other 90 degree arm that would normally be used for a right sided stick. I just added it to the mounting leg behind the throttle. This works ok but the throttle is too far out so I just remove the upper attachment point with the collective and move the throttle back in for when flying fixed wing. *SIMFAB if your team can have a proper quick connect disconnect for collective and throttle that would be soooo nice and you’d beat a majority of competitors with this setup*I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking to get a mostly dedicated sim pit that can be moved out of the way when not needed or wants to move away from using a computer chair desk mount. This is definitely worth the price that they’re charging. It actually seems better setup than the other big racing sim rig that recently released their new flight sim rig. This actually has a proper stick extension mount versus the other brand.I’ll be uploading a YouTube review soon and will update this with a link for anyone who wants to see more detailed shots, in flight action, and some explanations of my throttle mounting issue (not really an issue though).Edit: link to review- https://youtu.be/b9tU8tKh0to

    Fantastic seat.

The seat is great. It’s like the whole chair is made out of the gel pad you wold use to put on your chair. With my MFG Crosswind pedals the angle and height are perfect, which is great because the seat height is not adjustable. I see me not having any popliteal artery compression which leads to fatigue and discomfort. Only issue so far is that the center stick section seems to be designed before the release of the Moza FFB base, so I’m waiting on an answer about how to resolve the fact that this gigantic joystick base is offset left and hits the chair. This would be transparent and probably go unnoticed with any other non-FFB base. Parts are great, tools provided are adequate, but the instructions lack the granularity to tell you what needs to be done in what order, resulting in a lot of unintended yoga poses trying to figure out how to get the thing together, particularly when installing the seat to the base. I could not even begin to describe how I managed to get though it. Once it’s together though, its a great sim seat.
