This scares me – its fast but HOT

This was pulling too much juice even when idle. I was hitting 61c just looking at a web page. I tried a few driver installations and finally got the right magic that took the temps down toe 50+ but this is not a good spot to be in. I subsequently updated the bios and it added 4 degrees. I downloaded fancontrol (get this!) and was able to get idle temps about 46c. I’m not happy with what was required to achieve an acceptable temp.I purchased a different 3090 that doesn’t give me the headaches that this one did and popped this one into a different, and new, PC. The PSU popped and the horrible odor made it apparent that something burned out. It was, in fact, the PSU. I worried that this took the mobo down with it but that was not the case. I can’t say for certain that this product test drove the apparent bug inside the PSU but I ended up getting a different brand of PSU just in case and I returned this 3090, for which I got a prompt refund.I ended up buying a 4090 instead of replacing this as it was, which I’m very happy with, and put it into its intended target with a new PSU. Everything is working great and the mobo did not suffer.

The box was the only thing that looked like it had ever been used.

The GPU is working great. It looks brand new as far as I could tell, with not a spec of dust anywhere visible on the cooler. It came in an original EVGA box, which had obvious signs of use.

    Works great

I was kind of hesitant to get a like new product but went ahead anyways it was a good decision I have already bought a water block for it anyways but that’s the only way to keep these cards from burning up to soon.

    Wary but works

Made sure I did extensive research before ordering, and even contacted the owner selling the cards to ask a few questions. Was told by the owner that most cards shipped in their original packaging, with all original components included. Mine didn’t, and I was very wary upon it’s arrival whether I got a working card or not. First off, the packaging looks like it went through a war zone, probably more of the fault of UPS than the seller, however the packaging itself left a lot to be desired also. Was wrapped and packed fully with bubble wrap so at least the card didn’t move around to much in travel, but still low quality packing effort for an expensive card. The second issue/red flag is the card itself, the metal backplate lining the video outputs was bent in two places, and unable to fit into my motherboard upon first try. With some elbow grease and a pair of pliers, I was able to bend it back fairly easy into a shape that would fit into its slot, without damaging the card. It is a renewed card, so there is some leeway for being a used card, however I would have expected the metal backplate to be replaced at least. Despite the emotional rollercoaster of red flags I got upon its arrival, I finally managed to slide it into the motherboard, wire it up, turned it on, and it worked like a charm. No weird sounds, display came right up the first time. I used furmark and a couple 3rd party programs to benchmark the card and make sure it draws power fine and is working like it should, and it absolutely does. So far all my games have run great, and modded skyrim runs especially well with the 24gb VRAM. Felt like a risky buy, but for the price I would have no problem bending a metal plate back again if that’s the only issue I’ll run into from this seller.

    Not refurbished

Card arrived in all original packaging which was nice but definitely not refurbished. This is a used card at best. All cooling fins are packed with debris/hair. The card wasn’t even cleaned. Unfortunately I don’t have a way to test the card because my PC is custom looped. Just be cautious of “refurbished”

    Functional

Picked up one and it looked rough but ran perfectly fine. Picked up another one and it looked barely used, also works fine. Been using them for generative AI so I run them hard and no faults so far in a headless linux setup running Pytorch/Transformers. Card itself is still best single GPU value for 24GB VRAM.If you’re looking for a single GPU for ML or 1080/1440 gaming this will do well though it’s still over original sticker price. If you’re wanting to use multiple remember you need 3 separate power connectors per GPUIf you’re wanting to use both for SLI gaming you need an NVLink (discontinued)If you’re wanting to use both for generative AI: Text generation can currently use multiple GPUs without SLI/NVLink, Image generation only one GPU entirely.

    Quality of actual product.

Though it works great. It took me 2 hours to clean out what appeared to be a nest of some sort. There was a sticky reddish colored substance on the inside. Lots of dust along with (straw/hey) packed inside. Not sure if it was stored in a garage or dirty basement. Could have cleaned it out before shipping knowing the price was $1200.

    Amazing Card

Even with the 4000 series out, this card punishes games at high frame rates. I have absolutely no regrets with buying this card. I may buy a second to link, just for the hell of it.

Bought renewed, but, looked like new!

I bought this to build a new gaming PC as my last machine was 12 years old, and just plain old slow. It could barely keep up with any modern games, so, I gave up playing on the PC. Finally, after much debate, I bought the 3090 renewed to save a few dollars on the entire build. Well, I’m glad I did because you could not tell it had been renewed. The card works wonderfully and performs like a champ on ALL modern games. The fans are a nice touch, as is the rgb on the pane of the card. The temps are kept cool by all the fans I have in my case (Corsair 5000d airflow) and the card comes with a nice little stand to stop it from sagging. I can now easily get high frame rates on lots of games including COD, Destiny 2, Fortnite, Halo infinite, and others! I use one of the 3 display port cables and v-sync works with my Dell 32” gaming monitor at 4k with no issues. Watching movies, 4k youtube videos, etc. works perfectly. The package arrived on time, and I’m super glad to have a performant PC with great 4k graphics due to this card. There are 3 DP ports and 1 HDMI port for those that have a multiple monitor setup. The Nvidia software works well, and drivers are updated regularly, so, I know support will be around for quite a while. And hey, I saved a few hundred bucks, by buying renewed!
