**Unmatched Comfort and Adjustability – Highly Recommended!**
I recently purchased the Steelcase Gesture Office Chair with Head Rest, and it has been a game-changer for my work-from-home setup. As someone who spends up to 12 hours a day at my desk, finding a chair that provides both comfort and support was crucial, and this chair delivers on all fronts. The comfort level of the Steelcase Gesture is unparalleled. The seat cushion is incredibly supportive, and the backrest contours perfectly to my spine, providing excellent lumbar support. The headrest is a fantastic addition, offering just the right amount of support for my neck and head, which is essential during long work sessions. What truly sets this chair apart is its adjustability. Every aspect of the chair can be customized to fit your body perfectly. The armrests move in every direction—up, down, forward, backward, and even pivot—ensuring that my arms and shoulders are always in a comfortable position. The seat depth and height adjustments are smooth and easy to use, allowing me to find the perfect seating position effortlessly.Since using the Steelcase Gesture, I have experienced no body pain, even after sitting for extended periods. The chair promotes good posture and reduces strain on my back and neck, making those long workdays much more manageable.I highly recommend the Steelcase Gesture Office Chair with Head Rest to anyone in need of a high-quality, ergonomic office chair. It is worth every penny for the comfort and support it provides. If you spend a lot of time at your desk, this chair is an investment in your health and productivity. I hope this review helps!

This is The Chair
Pros: Best Chair Ever. That’s not hyperbole – I’m 64 and have been doing office work for most of my adult life, and have through a wide variety of chairs from the cheap to expensive competitors, and none of them hold a candle to this chair.Assembly: dead easy. The only challenge is that the chair itself is heavy, so getting it out of the box is work, and getting the piston, chair and base aligned is definitely easier with two people. Other than that, assembly was seconds, easy, and required no tools at all.Adjustable: I’m short and um… fluffy, so no chairs ever fit me. This chair does, and perfectly. The seat moves in and out far enough that you can get the pressure points on your thighs exactly right and comfortable. It goes low enough that my feet are actually flat on the floor with no need for a cushion, but adjusts high enough for my 6′ plus husband. The adjustable lumbar is ideal support, and adjusts far enough to suit a variety of needs. The 4 stops on the recline work perfectly, and even better, the tension adjustment on recline lets me get the chair to “just right” for long calls or long pounding keyboard sessions. The controls are easy to understand and logical, so no fumbling around trying to remember which dial does what. There are several reviews that call out the arm rests moving, and yes they do move, but they’re stiff enough to stay put while seated, and pull right back in as needed. I can get them to exactly the right height and position with no fiddling at all, and a big plus is that they adjust forward and back as well as up and down. The seat itself is cushioned, but not mushy at all, so you get comfort with support for long days at the desk. The back is firm and comfortable. I added the headrest, which is as good a quality as the rest of the chair, looks great, and adjusts to “just right”.After many, many years of trying to find the best economy chair, I finally bit the bullet and bought the chair I deserve. Now I’m reminded that there’s a huge difference between “price” and “cost” and wish I’d done this years ago.

Most versatile chair I have ever owned
This chair has been such an amazing daily driver since I bought it! I have struggled with getting my arms in the most relaxed position- close to the desk, just the right height- and the ability to shape the way I want it. The chair height is just perfect, and the arms match really well with the height (also adjustable) – so I can get in that comfort zone. The Seat is well made- and I would say it is a good 1-2 hours of straight work before you need to get up and just stretch a little, but that is with my settings. The seat sits more like an airline feel to me, so it grabs your sides and back just so well- you actually want to sit up straight because it feels so good. Never was a recliner in a chair-type worker- but when you move back, the seat moves with you and just hits all the right zones. I love it,The headrest is a little more finicky than I would want. But to spend the extra money and get a great rest on your head is worth the extra money. Plus the lumbar support – mine I have up all the way to the top and just feels top-notch. The Headrest, however, is a little struggle to get just right to where it feels amazing- and if you sit straight up your body gets pushed forward, when you go back you lose a little of the position- Lately, I do not use the headrest – just the comfort on the arms, seat, and back is worth the price- the headrest does get out of the way when positioned all the way back – so you get a double bonus there!Box it comes in is huge, and yesterday I had to tear down that box- and it took I would say 15-25 minutes since it is so large- no big deal but just saying -I use to get my chairs at staples, and I am done with that- this is an amazing chair, and I highly recommend it – it is something that I hope lasts a good 5-10 years – and after thinking about the price, which I dreaded to, I made the best investment for my work, arms, and back. I am so picky with this chair I did buy a cheap cover for the seat cushion. Man, I love this chair!!I would buy this immediately again- my congrats to Steelcase for nailing it – never will I buy from my local store again! – spend a little more get a lot of enjoyment for your work!

Good chair, but not new.
I have ordered high end chairs on multiple occasions. When purchased from Steelcase directly, they arrive assembled. This one required assembly. Also, This is a solid chair but didn’t arrive new. The original ship date was nearly a year ago. Lastly, one arm color doesn’t seem to match the base. Returned and ordering from SC direct.

Worth the crazy price
TLDR: Crazy Price, Crazy Comfort.I am a large feller. 6’4, 300 lbs. I have tried many gaming chairs over the years, and they worked well, until I started working from home with the start of COVID. Prior to COVID, I would spend 1-3 hours a day in the chair, and had no issues. Once I went full time from home, I would sit in the same chair for 9-12 hours a day. And these “gaming” chairs were awful. I would toss and turn all day, would be forced to get up, readjust, ect every few hours, and would be straight up sore at the end of the day.I have seen this chair reviewed many times, and everyone said it was amazing, but the price is a little crazy. Well, that is all true. However, I LOVE this chair. I am able to do long work days, and feel just fine. No sore butt. No twitchy legs, nothing. To me, it was worth it for the price, even know, you can buy a beater car for less.

Single best chair I have ever owned!
I did a lot of research and checked out a ton of chairs before settling on this one. I wanted one with a good amount of support without being restricting and needed it to be stable, strong, and comfortable. This chair meets all three requirements and then some. I considered buying direct to customize, but between the lead time and costs this was the best option. The headrest is a godsend and the way the lumber support works is exquisite. Absolutely love that it came fully assembled, so there was nothing to futz with. Just open the box and rolled it out. I wish more chairs had this level of ergonomic comfort. While I have only had it for a month, it shows no signs of issues, everything is still tight and smooth as needed. I added the Steelcase rollerblade style casters and that was an eye opener. I have never had such a quiet and smooth rolling chair in my life, plus I gained almost an inch in extra max height. Depending on your circumstances, this chair will be an amazing long-term investment ( I was torn for over a month before pulling the trigger on this purchase)

Product is great, but the “new” item arrived used.
I normally don’t write reviews, and I’m very happy with the chair once it arrived… but, this was listed and priced as a “new” item. The box it arrived in and the missing packing material definitely say otherwise. The box arrived having obviously been opened, and looked very beat up. I almost refused delivery before examining the chair itself. The chair was loose in the box, with no protective shipping material except for sticky tape on the feet. There were no manuals, warranty information, or any paperwork.I didn’t see any damage to the chair, but it did have a layer of dust that easy was brushed off.Again, I’m very happy with the chair, and would have no concerns about the delivery on something marked open box or discounted, but it’s not something I would expect to see on a 1600 premium chair.

I can sit cross legged
I’m 5’7″ 160 and I am a sucker for reclining and sitting stupidly, and there are two main things I am generally enamored with. I’m about 5 months in at this point. Do I feel like I spent a lot of money on this? Yes, but I also work from home so my butt is in this chair for about 8 hours a day. I can splurge on my own butt.1. The armrests. I move around enough that I can sit cross-legged and they generally are very nice and stable feeling.2. Reclining. This chair goes all the way back but the mechanism that stops it from going all the way back is very easy to reach and reset and I appreciate that.

Incredibly Comfortable Chair, Resolved Back Pain, However..
The media could not be loaded.
For a $1200 chair, my expectations of buy it for life (or for it at least to last a significant amount of time) were high. In the attached video, the movement of the headrest is disappointing.. I’ve owned the chair for ~4 months now and for the headrest to break down in such a way isn’t acceptable. The comfort of the chair and my hopes of solving back and butt pain were exceeded, but the durability of the headrest is frustrating to say the least.UPDATE: Steelcase honored their warranty and sent a new chair, no charge. No issues with new chair 2 months in.

Massive quality of life improvement!!! BUY NOW
This chair is truly superb. I didn’t really believe it until I worked with them at work. After ordering and having it in my home office… wow.I spend a ton of time on my computer, and since swapping this out with my $200 “functional” chair. I can feel the difference even when I’m not sitting in it. You can tell it improves your body.It is so hard to explain…. but really, you just need to buy this chair. Buy buy buy.Forget about the price. BUY IT NOW.

Feel like I’m a regimental soldier sitting in this bad boy
Great for the posture. Saddle is a little firm but isn’t showing signs of giving out on me yet so I can’t complain too much. The only downside to this (outside of pricing haha) is the darn thing creeks like my grandparent’s house floorboards. I had to lube it up which worked temporarily but now the creek is back. I guess I’d rather a creeky chair than bones but after a long day working from this chair, it tends to get on my nerves. Go ahead and buy one though.

Very happy with this chair
Love this chair. The adjustability of the headrest makes it easy to set it up for anything, and it’s build quality is wonderful. The only thing I would add is a way to either adjust the tension of the sideways swing of the arms or a way to lock them in place.

Best office chair ever made!
I have owned several office chairs, ranging in price from $100-$1500. Yes, this chair is pricey. But it’s seriously the most comfortable and adjustable chair I have owned. Very well constructed, arrived fully assembled. Looks great too. If you sit a lot at a desk, this chair is worth the investment.

I was dealing with chronic neck pain from not having a chair with a high enough back to support me. This chair came wonderfully packaged, fully assembled, and has been the most comfortable office chair I’ve ever owned. Highly suggested!

Good, but not Great – Headrest one word description: Floppy
The media could not be loaded.
The headrest fails this chair making it Good but not Great. My expectation is that when I adjust the headrest it should stay in place. Instead there is excessive free movement backward and forward (see video). From center point top to bottom of the headrest – I measured 2.5″ of free movement.Floppy and just completely unexpected.EDIT: Found out today when the headrest came off that the excessive play was because the screws weren’t tightened properly and the insert thread was stripped.Researching, I found this to be a common occurrence (shame on you Steelcase). That being said, a little more work than you should have to do for a $1k chair will be resolved by either a little epoxy and re-drill of the thread or a new thread insert. I had neither at the time, so opted for a temp fix using a glue gun so that the screw could grab a little better. Oh and by tightening more I noticed the tip of the screw started to reach the surface on the other side of the headrest. I suspect Steelcase contracts out for the headrest addition… it’s just too kludgy and there are a couple of different approaches that would make it rock solid.

Why buy anything else?
I own a Herman Miller Embody and just recently purchased this for my second office. This chair is incredible. I will actually be missing it when I work in my other office. If you’re on the fence about purchasing this, don’t be—get this chair.

If you’re tall and want head and neck support when you lean back, this is the chair.
I’ve tried so many chairs to find one that works for my home office/gaming PC setup. Tried every high back chair I could find, no matter the cost. I’m not even that tall at 6’ 2” (188cm) but the only thing that would suponer my head and neck were gaming chairs, and even the best of those are not great. The headrest is very well designed. It has the best adjustability of any office or gaming chair I’ve ever tried and I’ve tried all the best. It really has to be tried in person to appreciate it.The arms are great too. The adjustability is fantastic as well. However, it would be nice to have detents for the main rotation, but armrest pad rotation has detents.Overall, this is a very comfortable chair and supportive chair, and is especially worth the money for tall people. It fits me much better than otherwise excellent chairs like the Embody or even other Steelcase chairs. The only real problem is that I couldn’t find anywhere to try one. Had to order and hope for the best..

Arm rests keep it from a 5/5
So far this may be the best (and admittedly most expensive) chair I’ve ever owned. As a tall and wide man I love the amount of seat cushion I get and the height for my knees, thrilled by those features. The seat could be a little more comfortable but honestly, compared to the many terrible chairs I’ve had over the years it’s a huge step up.Unfortunately it weirdly does not cater to the big man with the arm rests – I imagine if I were much smaller my elbows would be closer to the back of the chair and it wouldn’t be much of a problem, but these hugely “customizable” arm rest positions don’t come anywhere close to where my arms actually need to rest. Either sitting way, WAY too far back to reason, WAY WAY too low, or way, way too tight (closing in to almost the middle of the seat, a size suitable truly and literally only for putting an infant in this otherwise giant chair, I’m so confused why that option exists). Worse still, in their highest, furthest forward but still inadequate position, the armrests do not lock from twist and widening with the slightest movement. I want firm, locked armrests to hold my elbows in place and yet these wiggle all around often finding themselves pushed out of position when I need them. It’s so strange to have such an engineered piece of work as the rest of this chair and to put the worst thought out arm rests possible on it.

You’re unlikely to find a better chair
There is no doubt that this chair is expensive, however, considering the price of the 3 chairs I have purchased in the past year and the fact that they have all fallen apart, the Gesture is an investment and I’ll end up saving money by not buying $150-$300 chairs every few months. Also, in the unlikely event the Gesture is broken, it is covered by a 12-year warranty. You won’t find anything remotely similar with chairs like those I have purchased in the last year. You’re not simply buying a chair. You’re investing in a piece of equipment. Write it off as a business expense if you have to, but you need to invest in this chair if you have to spend more than a couple hours at your desk every day. You are unlikely to find a better product on the market. I had seriously considered Herman Miller chairs, but I always found something that really bothered me about each model they make. The Gesture provides perfect support and is designed to suit a variety of positions that differ depending on the task you’re doing or the device you’re using. The headrest and armrests were what sold me. You can adjust the chair for anything from gaming to reading to completing work assignments. In terms of function, the Gesture has replaced my desk chair, gaming chair, and reading chair. In terms of form, this is a beautiful piece that complements any number of personal decorative styles. Did the chair cost a lot? Yes, of course it did. Has it replaced several other pieces of furniture that collectively cost much more? Absolutely, yes. This is not a cheap chair, but you definitely get what you pay for. You will never hear me express buyer’s remorse about the Steelcase Gesture. It is one of the best purchases I have ever made.

Best Chair I Ever Owned
This is by far the best office chair I have ever owned and I have had a few. The chair arrived fully assembled! Imagine my surprise. The Pros: My body felt so good the moment I sat in the chair. I felt relieve in my neck, shoulders and back. I heard some gentle cracking and popping in my back and some tingling. The chair is so ergonomically designed it was like I was having a chiropractic adjustment. The words coming out of my mouth were “oh my” and “oh my goodness.” It is well designed and nothing feels cheap about the material. It has so many adjustments and it rolls quietly and fast. Now the Con:The bottom cushion feels slightly slick when I sit in it so I find myself sliding forward and having to readjust my sitting position. For the cost of this chair I wish that was not the case. Will I return it? Nope! Going to keep it!

Amazing chair
It’s so comfortable to sit on this thing. I had a cheap Staples chair that would give me backpain after sitting for just a few hours. That forced me to lie down or switch to weird and awkward positions. With the Gesture, I can sit on this chair for hours without causing any sort of pain. It’s amazing!

Quality worth the money
Been through 3 other chairs in the last 2 months looking for one that will help with my lower back pain. 9/10 no question. Only thing is I wish the arm rests went a tiny bit higher. I’m a tall guy so this may not be an issue for many people and overall, not a reason to hold back. DEFINITELY recommend.

Underwhelming
This just feels like a standard office chair to me, nothing really special about it. It doesn’t cause any pain but I wish it had a little more padding and felt more luxurious to go along with the high price paid. It seems utilitarian and leaves me feeling underwhelmed. It’s fine, but I think it’s over-hyped and I wouldn’t pay this much for it again.

Exceptional chair
This is the most comfortable office chair that I have ever owned. I really like the fully adjustable arm rests, which allow for easy fit for comfort throughout the day. The headrest is also quite comfortable. For me, the only weak spot is the lumbar support which is somewhat adjustable but doesn’t quite fit as well as I would prefer.

Don’t think it’s worth the price
6 ft 3 280 Computer Programer so I sit all day. Back Still hurt, headrest pushed heck foward so it didn’t help so I had the headrest flipped over most of the time. Lumbar hurt. Chair did feel premium but I ended up returning it for a haworth fern and that feels a lot better!

I’d skip the headrest
The chair came fully assembled and is very adjustable and comfortable. The wheels are just right for my hardwood floor. The only issue I have is that the headrest does not go back far enough and always ends up pushing my head forward a bit no matter how I adjust it, maybe it’s designed for a taller person.

The lower back support needs supplementing, otherwise it is fantastic chair.
This chair has an incredible range of adjustments. Unfortunately it is lacking sufficient lower back support, which I supplemented with a blanket support secured with an elastic band. The chair came delivered assembled and plastic wrapped and has worked well right out of the box. My only complaint was it was delivered and left in front of my garage without a doorbell ring. The box was damaged, and almost formless. My biggest worry was if I had to return it. Alas I did not have to. The chair is 5* because it is so good.

A must for home office workers
I have never bought a chair this expensive before honestly and I was leery about doing so. I am pleased to say it is worth it honestly. I am still pleased with it after 6 months now and it is as comfy as when I first bought it. It also has improved and corrected my posture. The moveable arms are great and I have been able to get the support for my elbows when needed. I have used this with several desks with this chair and find that it can adjust to be comfortable in all of them. The build quality is excellent and I think Steelcase has earned a customer for life.

Expensive, but worth it.
I’m that guy who never thought about spending more than $100 on an office chair…when I was younger. Now that my back is more sensitive to pain, I took the leap. With a 12-year warranty, solid build, ergonomics, adjustability, and comfort, I’ll never need to buy another office chair. When you spend $100 every few months because those chairs are useless, the time it takes to build them, the time to shop for one on sale, you could be working earning an income instead. Not to mention the damage those cheap chairs cause your health, back, and neck.

About a month into ownership I’ve finally start to feel much more comfortable in the chair, when I first got it I sort of thought I might have gotten the wrong chair, however my posture was just horrible. Now I’m getting used to sitting upright and having the armrests set properly for my desk height. The chair leans far enough that you can relax briefly and the lumbar support is good. Overall the chair is very high quality but if you have terrible posture its going to take a little bit for you to really get comfortable in it.

Awesome Chair
I had a Herman Miller Aeron that was awesome but was having some neck pain so started looking around for other chairs and this one was top rated. Even better there was a black friday deal that put it at the lowest price I have seen for it new so picking one up was a no brainer. Very comfortable chair with good adjustments. This one comes with the lumbar support and the headres. I am 6’2 225 and it fits me well.

Spend the money… no really, it’s worth it.
I get a lot of rear time with my office chairs (unfortunately…). I’m a pretty heavy guy and I’ve burned through plenty of the cheaper chairs. This thing is by far the most comfortable, easily adjustable and supportive chair I have ever owned. So do your back a favor, don’t be cheap and suffer. Spend the money and get this beast. It’s worth every penny!
