For the price you cant beat it.

It feels good in the hand and has all the buttons you need. I have had it in my garage in extreme weather changes from very cold to very hot and its had no issues. I would buy again.

Call me a believer

I was skeptical for the longest time about getting a more expensive HOTAS. But holy crap was I wrong.The X52 is a really effective build for both the consumer and the manufacturer. You can tell that many of the parts on the outer casing were chosen purely to keep manufacturing costs low. But they managed to make them work so well together that you can easily look past the small casting flaws on the overwhelmingly plastic build. The actual control inputs and axis are butter smooth. Most of what you’re paying for is quality in the electronics.I wish the LCD had more functionality outside of FSX profiles, but I’m wearing a HMD so I don’t really get to pay much attention to it.

Works great for me

Love it but the pinkie trigger does’t seem to associate to anything in any of my games. The detent is not as bad as some may claim but if you really want this stick but without the detents, you can void your warranty and remove one small piece inside to remove the detents. Also, if you are looking at reviews, don’t confuse this model with the Pro model. The Pro model has lighting under the throttle on the position meter that this one does not have.

Updated review. Love it for elite dangerous

I left the original review because the subsequent comments helped a lot and without the original review they would not make much sense…I love this unit. I am not a flight sim player I only play Elite dangerous. I went ahead and removed the throttle detente because I really dislike the strange resistance in throttle at the 90 and 10%. It was super easy to remove but I wouldn’t attempt to do it before fully understanding that he warranty would be void.. What’s funny is that the warranty is useless (I say that with joy) because there’s no way I’ll ever return this unit as it is just awesome.The GOOD!: Very light. Like I said before I’m not a flight sim so I wouldn’t know what to look for in a realistic flight stick experience. I am however not fond of too much resistance and this unit is nice and centered, it has a light bounce back and the entire movement feels smooth with no serious resistance. I feel it contributes to accuracy. fully compatible with elite dangerous, all of the buttons are programmable. Can be mounted to a custom rig. Mainly because the unit is so light weight; you can either purchase one or engineer your own and I promise that this unit’s weight isn’t going to be a factor or cause an unforeseen element when mounted.the SO SO: The unit come with suction cups for fastening it to your desk surface. I have a wooden desk and I consider it moderately porous. despite that I feel the suction cups hold for a long while. you eventually have to push down to fasten it again and If you continue to use the suction method then you’ll need to get use to it.The software drivers. I installed the drivers that came with the unit (CD rom) and then later went to the saitek website and downloaded the update. Once you install the drivers and profile manager your pinky trigger will stop working. DONT WORRY all you have to do is go into the profile manager. Some recommend that you delete all of the profiles, add a new one then find the pinky trigger field and set it to not-programmed. Whether deleting all profiles is necessary or not will have to be up to you. I did it and never suffered from it. Overall; NO regrets. I love this for elite dangerous and I’m inspired to try other flight games just to use this unit more often. I really love it.*****Original review: I don,t know where else to leave this complaint but when i purchased this unit it was listed as the X52 Pro. Even the picture they’re using still shows the X52 Pro. I received an X52 and now they seemed to have corrected the issue so -even though the picture still shows the X52 Pro- they’ve conveniently removed the “Pro” from the item listing.. with this new development a return would only result in an exchange for the X52 again. I honestly thought I was purchasing the x52 Pro at a reduced price but infact I was just purchasing the x52 that by the way I thought to be not worth the price. I’m now stuck with the X52. bummer. I never wanted the x52.

Yea I got it for Elite Dangerous

This is a first impression review with little use time. Things may change with more stick time.First off, Gees these things are expensive. It’s been years since I bought a flight controller for a game but I don’t remember them being this expensive. So this thing had some pretty big expectation. So first off I was a little disappointed when the box arrived and saw all that the shipper did was put a label on the flight controller box. Given that the box was then left on my front door step for half a day letting anyone walking by that it was a ~$300 flight controller sitting there. Fortunately the porch pirates where busy in another sector so my package was sitting there when I got home.Setup was a little painful but not for the reason you may expect. The USB cable on this does not come off the flight stick but off the throttle control. Unfortunately for my setup my computer is on the right side of my desk and this puts the USB cable on the left side. Generally this isn’t a problem because modern devices usually have fairly long cables. This thing does not. If my computer was on the left side of the desk it wouldn’t have been a problem but since it’s not it meant it’s cable was about two feet too short. I lucked up in that my monitor has two utility USB ports on it’s back so instead of running to the computer I just had to run to the monitor, got lucky there. The take away here. This thing has a short USB and is on the left side so keep that in mind when purchasing for you build.Following another reviewers recommendation I did not install the drivers for this device and I wasn’t prompted either so that was a win. When I did fire up Elite Dangerous I did expect that the game would work immediately with no issues, that didn’t happen. The condoler was dead in the water. Head over to the controls panel to start the tedious process of mapping every command onto the controller when I notice something. In the pull down for the different configurations (was going to see if I could make a custom one) I noticed one called Saitek X52. The game actually came with a preloaded setup for this controller. Welp, that was easy.Overall impression of this thing is a bit overwhelming for someone that doesn’t use flight controllers much. Some of the buttons seem a little unintuitive and I’m still looking at just about every button I’m pushing to know what I am doing but I’ve only had it a day so yea. Build wise, this thing is beefy. The stick didn’t seem to move any being on my mouse pad but the throttle did seem to move over time and need to be repositioned. I did try the suction cups on the throttle but all the did was prevent sudden moves not a gradual over time which is not unexpected. It’s not annoying enough to down rate for but something that does need mentioned. The LCD display on the throttle is not lit by default (might not actually be lit) so it’s next to impossible to see what is going on with it beyond the fact that it’s also at a weird angle when sitting on a desktop.Beyond that there isn’t much to say at this point. This controller didn’t make be a better in-game pilot (lost a couple ships prove that point wrong) but honestly wasn’t expecting it too. We’ll see how it goes and if need an update as required.

Good solid controller

I had an original Saitek X52 for a couple of decades. The only reason I had to replace it was because the PS2 connection on the back of the stick section was getting loose. I’ve heard reports that the build quality of the newer Logitech units was less than the original, but if that’s true, I sure can’t tell the difference. The finish and feel are good and the device works just like my original. I even had the confidence to go ahead and void the warranty by removing the throttle detent. I’m pretty sure I’ll be using this one at least as long as my previous unit.

Prompt delivery, works as should.

This new Logitech G X52 Flight Control System replaced an older model that the connections had loosened and were somewhat bent. Product was delivered and was literally plug and play ready to go. Because it was replacing the same model, flight simulator picked up the controller and all the custom settings were still the same. The only reason for 4 star instead of 5 is that the throttle has a little sticky spot about 1/3 the way open. This is not a real big deal. Otherwise everything works as it should.

Not bad for the price….

Decent quality, not a fan of the color combo, wish they kept it all black. Overall, very responsive but would like the stick to have a little resistance. Everything works as it should. Throttle works well and has an adjustment knob to increase resistance. Buttons feel a little light and cheap. Wires are a bit annoying but i dont think theres a solution.Picked it up for MSFS20, tested it out with AC7 and works well. Not a fan of the software, fortunately i use a separate emulator to bind all buttons and axis. MSFS20 is suppose to be compatible with this.

DO NOT INSTALL THE SOFTWARE

good flight stick just do not install the software it will screw with the pinky trigger (On elite dangerous) there are ways around it but so far it has not permanently fixed it.

Dont care for the centering mechanism

I dont think you can beat the product for the price. I don’t care for the centering mechanism. It’s a little loose, but you can slide a disc above the spring to force some more tension into it. Keep it lubricated to prevent grinding. Lots of buttons. Hat switches are ok. Top left hat switch is a little difficult to hit when pulling back.

great beginner hotas

I use for star citizen and DCS map your controls in game the software is odd doesn’t work right but I definitely would get again if I have to start over.

Great if you have the coordination and space to use it. this is a big chonky boy

Pros- Sturdy- Attractive- Functional- easy to initially setup and install- well supported in Windows 11cons- It is BIGGER then it looks- You really need a large desk or a set of fairly pricey mounting brackets to make this work- So help me, I am not that coordinated!!!!- some strange software glitches that only impact testingVerdictI had to return this. It not you, dear HOTAS, its me. I am not worthy, but a good clip of space sim population is . If you have a big smooth desk or the brackets its a Great. Make no mistake this is clearly a solid choice if not a great choice. However HOTAS is just not for me.

I Prefer The X52 Over Any Other Stick

I had owned a few of these when they were under the Saitek name. They are the best sticks I have ever used. I didn’t own several of them because they are junk. I was extremely rough on my prior ones because I used the stick to walk in Battlefield 2 and they just aren’t made for that kind of use. I recommend this stick and throttle quadrant over any other.

Excellent flight stick- pro is better

This stick is very similar to the x52 pro with some minor differences- not enough of a difference to make the pro 150 dollars more! I’ve been using the pro since 2012 and bought this one for my daughter. It’s just as good as my pro, but with only one minor annoyance- the throttle. It doesn’t seem to be as smooth as my Pro, it seems a lot stiffer and often times I have to push down when using it. Granted it could just be me used to using a well used stick vs. a brand new one. Still the best stick for the money. Works great on MS flight simulator and Elite Dangerous.

smooth flying

smooth throttle and joystick. Plenty of buttons to map out. If Im looking for a CON- it would be the blue LEDs might be a bit bright for some. I say just don’t look at them 🙂 . Also, Im also curious when people are rating items like these which games they are playing. Currently, its mainly Elite Dangerous Horizons. This expansion has added land vehicles with more sets of controls, but this HOTAS is all I use in game for both ship and land game play. I do not have any double/triple button maps either. I hope that helps some make the decision on whether or not the buy this item.I forgot to add, on the bottom of the joystick where your pinky finger would be there is a trigger style button. As some have smaller/larger hands then others, there is a quick release screw to adjust that whole bottom piece and move it up or down. Another great feature to this HOTAS.

Lasted 2 Years

I loved the x52 until my unit started to break down. The first thing that went was one of the toggle switches stopped working. Upon opening the unit the clicked was stuck and needed to be replaced. Once replaced, the toggle switch worked again. Almost exactly 2 years from my date of purchase (2021) the unit would no longed power on at all. Upon inspection of each board nothing appeared to be wrong. A number of boards were very old, most of them dating back to the mid to early 2000s and were made by Saitek, not Logitech. It appears that the only thing that was changed was the outer casing. Everything else was reused Saitek parts. This is a huge disappointment. Most of the online reviews of the original Saitek and newer Logitech models seem to last decades. Mine did not.

Fantastic starter HOTAS setup

After reading many negative reviews about Logitech’s line of joysticks and HOTAS setups I decided on just going ahead and giving the entry-level X52 a chance.I’m really glad I did! It’s an excellent beginner set for space sims (Elite Dangerous is all I use it for currently), with just about the right number of buttons and hat switches in all the logical places, and very good ergonomics all round.Build quality is decent, it’s pretty much all plastic but the grips are rubberized and very grippy.The bases are a little light, and the suction cups only work ok to stop them sliding around, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me by any means.None of the buttons or other inputs have issues, everything worked straight out of the box, perfectly.I can’t attest to the Logitech software for this because I only use it in Elite, which has very good presets from the devs. Again, right out of the box.All in all, I couldn’t be much happier. We’ll see how the quality stands up to regular use after several months, but you get what you pay for, right? I knew I wasn’t getting a Warthog or VKB, but for several hundred dollars less, it’s a superb first dip into the world of HOTAS.

Small flaws that impact the hardware. Overall Great.

I bought it and love it with intermediate use over a year. A few months ago the detent that gives some resistence when pushing the throttle in and out of max and min thrust started giving a lot more than it used to and was making a loud clicking noise. I googled it and it seems to be a pretty regular problem. My joystick also began squeaking. After cleaning the joystick thoroughly the squeaking went away.In order to repair the detent issue I had to either contact Logitech or break my warranty. I decided the latter after reading complaints that support had a long turn around, I decided to open’r up. To my pleasant surprise, it was rather easy and all components appeared to be very well in place so my fears of breaking it went away. I removed the culprit piece out of the throttle to completely remove my min and max thrust detent and now it works like a charm.Repairability +Still going, 6 years later.
