    Amazing Sound.

No squeaking with my pair as some of the so called review experts have stated. The sound from these headphones are by far the best I have listened too. I listened to the focal bathys and the Egdiffier Stax to me are far superior sounding. I have learned over the past few years enjoying this hobby that most of the so called experts doing the audio reviews are just trying to sell product and that you can take to the bank and deposit it.

    Worth the investment

Bought these headphones a few weeks ago, having used other Edifier products. I’m typically a cheap person, but decided to make an investment in reliable high-quality headphones. So far, this pair has been great. I really love the look aesthetically. The black is very sleek and cool looking.More importantly, the fit is very comfortable, and I can wear these whether I’m running at the gym or walking through the grocery store. Most importantly, the audio quality is terrific as well. It’s great with phone calls, and of course music and podcasts. This is a 5-star review for a reason.

    Excellent audio quality.

The app is great, and everything else is streamlined. The case that comes with the device feels premium and well built and seems to protect the product even with how light weight the product is itself, I feel it will definitely protect the headset when it’s placed in the protective case.

    (UPDATE) Absolutely amazing sound

Love the tight sound and controlled bass, etc. Nothing over done compared to other similarly priced headphones I’ve tried. Clarity is great. Add a DAC and it gets even better! Only prob is slightly creaking plastic build and no ANC but I dont mind those at all given what these offer.

Best sound if you don’t want ANC

Exceptional sound quality, better than px8, bathys, xm5, airpd max if you don’t want ANC or transparency mode or dac on usbc.Comfort is good up to 6hrs string, included leather and cloth earpads are good for cold and warm weather.Excellent batter.Connectivity is as expected, no drops observed, able to connect to multiple devices.Again no ANC or Transparency mode.

    Good sound, good battery life.

Well, I had a lot of edifier speakers before, now I have s3000pro which is sounds very good, so I was very excited when I saw that edifier launched planar magnetic headphones. In short: very good sound, long lasting battery life.Build is nothing special, just simple plastic, looking more on a cheaper side.Decided to give 5 stars, as this level of sound quality and battery life for the price is much better than competitors.

I hope they are for you

I honestly wanted to just love this set of cans after reading reviews and watching videos. I didn’t find the creaky issue so many said they had. I found them to be very comfortable even after hours of listening. The ear pads are really soft, a nice touch. The case I feel for the price should really have been a hard case. Sennheiser for way less, gives a nice case to protect the headset. The noise canceling, is passive. For most typical office type scenarios I found them to be more than adequate. The battery life speaks for itself. As for the sound, it depended on what I listened to as to its performance. Live rock music was outstanding. Prince sounded as I had never heard before. But when I listened to music from groups like C+C Music Factory it fell flat. I could hear things I’ve never heard in those songs before but there was no true low end. Country, seemed a bit lackluster to my tastes. I just have a need for a more eclectic set of headphones. This is why I had to return them. I know people are going to think my take on these is crazy, but it’s just my take. I like my music to have a really decent bass presence. Trust me, I think if you have a chance to listen to them, you really should. As for me, I’m going to keep hunting.

Amazing sound quality and battery life with some minor build quality issues

A lot of people are giving very bad review about the build quality. Yes, it’s not built using many premium materials (but has carbon fiber in the front of the ear cups). It feels a bit plasticky, for sure. Can it be better? Yes. But, is it too bad? No. When I wore them I did experience creaking noises coming from the right ear cup. I was a bit frustrated but then I realized that due to the shape of my head the right ear cup was not resting at the right angle. So, with an adjustment to the fit, the creaking noise stopped or reduced. This is where it makes it a bit frustrating time to time. This is an awesome headphone but with this minor flaw. For the price it’s selling , this is unacceptable but I love the sound quality and the general understated aesthetics of this headphone. So, I am going to keep them. If the creaking becomes too unbearable then I will return it and go for a premium one (like, B&W PX8 or M&D MW75).

    Worth Every Cent !!!

If clear sound separation is your main priority, if you want to hear all the little details in your music, these do the trick. For me, it was like rediscovering my music catalog (alt/classic rock). The bass will not ‘rock’ you, however.

Electrostatic vs horn and dome tweeters

Electrostatic tweeters are far superior to anything being mar-keyed today. You get a realistic sound, experience with themagnetic planar tweeters in the Spirit 3 and Spirit 5: The head-phones convinced me to buy Edifier S3000 Mkll speakers.

    Amazing headsets.

Its a great headset. The headphones need to be TURNED ON and then PLUGGED IN. When the output device is off , headphones need to be unplugged and turned off aswell else they stay on until you notice. Its not that easy to get a hang at first but its a decent headset. The quality is AMAZING physically and audibly. Good materials great audio. too heavy for those that want light headsets. Download the Edifier connect app to have some more control over the headsets. I had some time with them and really enjoy them.

These headphones sound great and have incredible battery life, but the build quality is so-so.

These headphones have extremely good sound quality for the price point and the battery life is really incredible, but caveat emptor: the build quality is utterly atrocious. They are constructed from cheap, brittle plastics and creak noisily during regular use. This same plastic failed completely (broke off while putting them on my head) after 6 months of ownership, rendering them unusable. Cannot really recommend for this reason.EDIT:I made a warranty claim through Edifier and it was really easy and they replace my headphones right away, so high points for customer service. The pair I got to replace the ones that failed seem completely different. No more creaking and much more solid-feeling build quality all around.

    Excellent sound quality

The more I listen to these headphones the more I realize just how good they are. I enjoy the wired sound on these headphones. You can hear the Stax influence on the sound quality. When I originally purchased I thought they were somewhat expensive. However the build quality, sound quality are excellent.very pleased with purchase . Plug the wire in hook up to a Fiio or qudelix through iPhone lay back and enjoy the sound !

    Excellent sounding

These planar headphones using planar drivers sound quite good. The best sound obtained is with USB OTG, driven through an external portable amp where the full frequency range is experienced, especially transients. The blue-tooth connection at apt X adaptive gets you about 90% of the potential (I switched from a Samsung 22U to a Sony Experia phone to activate the right codecs). Bass sounds good when there is some, with none of the bass bloat associated with other headphones, and voice and high frequencies shine. My biggest gripe is the small multi function switch that to me is hard to operate properly. Overall I am pleased with the purchase.

Good Sound Quality and Long Battery Life – Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound

I recently tested the Edifier STAX Spirit S3 Bluetooth headphones on my Android phones, including a Xiaomi MI 11 that supports Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound and an LG Velvet that does not. The headphones are designed for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound, which delivers high-resolution music, crystal clear voice calls, lag-free gaming, superior connectivity, and extended battery life. The sound quality of these headphones is impressive when paired with a Snapdragon Sound-compatible device. The music is full of life and has a pleasing range and presence, providing a warm sound that captures the beauty of songs and their arrangements. However, the sound quality is less impressive when paired with non-compatible devices, and there are cheaper options with better sound quality and active noise canceling, such as Sony’s WH-1000XM4 and Bose 700 Noise Canceling Headphones. The headphones come with two sets of ear pads that can be swapped out, providing a comfortable fit for hours. The standard ear pads are soft leather and provide reasonably good passive noise reduction, while the alternate set of ear pads are smaller, flatter, and cooler, converting the headphones to on-ear headphones. The headphones are made of plastic (which seems be fairly common in even premium headphones now), which is a bit disappointing, but it still feels solid and of good quality. The Edifier app is available in the Play Store and has useful features, including a notification in the Android slide-down notification shade that shows the headphone battery level and allows you to select between different sound modes, such as Classic, Hi-fi, and STAX, or to enable the low-latency Game Mode. The full Edifier app also allows you to customize the double and triple-tap functions of the power key, set a shut-down timer, erase the Bluetooth pairing record stored in the headphones, or return the headphones to their original factory settings. However, there is no equalizer that I could find, and there is no button for checking if the firmware version of the headphones is up to date.Overall, the Edifier STAX Spirit S3 Bluetooth headphones are a great choice for those with Snapdragon Sound-compatible devices. The sound quality is impressive, and the headphones are comfortable to wear for extended periods. However, they are not recommended for non-compatible devices, and there are cheaper options with better sound quality and active noise canceling.

Interesting features and VG sound – but a tough sell in North America

These Bluetooth headphones from Edifier are designed for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound which is the brand name for a chain of Qualcomm sound optimizations designed to deliver high-resolution music, crystal clear voice calls, lag-free gaming, superior connectivity, and extended battery life. Some of these optimizations are hardware-based and some are software based but all of that Qualcomm technology needs to be licensed and that’s the rub–many companies were already fed up with high licensing fees and broad patent abuse (according to separate lawsuits from both Samsung and Apple) associated with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon CPU chips and quietly stopped supporting Qualcomm’s aptX codecs after the Bluetooth 4.2 standard enabled full high definition music playback with improved connectivity and no interference or sound drop-outs using the standard SBC codec which is free.I did a search and no phones from Samsung or Apple support Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound. Some Motorola models do but given the commanding market share that Samsung and Apple phones command here these headphones are going to be a tough sell in North America which is a shame.I tested the Edifier STAX Spirit S3 Bluetooth headphones on two of my Android phones–a Xiaomi MI 11 which supports Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound and an LG Velvet that does not. With the LG Velvet, these headphones sounded OK, offering a clear and balanced sound that was flat and had little presence. You can always EQ music to preference but the sound on these isn’t nearly as crisp as Sony’s WH-1000XM4 Bluetooth headphones which are $50 cheaper and also include active noise canceling. Bose 700 Noise Canceling Headphones also sound better and cost less. Licencing Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound technology clearly isn’t cheap and these headphones simply aren’t good enough to recommend if your phone isn’t compatible. The sound when using these headphones with my Xiaomi MI 11 was very different–much fuller with noticeably more presence. Rather than providing strictly accurate sound, most premium headphones are tuned to take advantage of the speaker set-up or to create a specific sound. Beats headphones emphasize bass at the expense of everything else while the tuning on Bose headphones is significantly less drastic. The sonic tuning on these Edifier Bluetooth headphones relies entirely on Sandragon Sound Technology so the difference between using these on my LG Velvet and Xiaomi MI 11 is night and day. With Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound music was no longer flat but full of life with a pleasing range and presence. Plucked instruments sound full and clear while percussive instruments and bass have a subtle snap. The overall sound is balanced so if you like a lot of bass you would need to use an equalizer or the bass boost feature on your player.I like to use Lindsey Buckingham’s self-titled 2021 so album when I test Bluetooth headphones and speakers because Buckingham is a true studio rat who adores Pet Sound era Brian Wilson and utilizes an unusual variety of sounds. Plus it’s a great album. These headphones provided a warm sound that could have been crisper but captured the beauty of Buckingham’s songs and their careful arrangements.I used these headphones for a couple of weeks listening to a variety of music from new wave like Depeche Mode and The Psychedelic Furs to the guitar-driven power pop of Enuff Z’nuff and The Shoes and the more delicate singer/songwriter sound of Leona Naess’ latest album Brood X. These headphones emphasize the fullness of sound over the crispness of individual instruments so they won’t appeal to everyone but for me, they made music listening a pleasure. Whatever album I played sounded really good. The Edifier Stax Spirit S3 comes with two sets of ear pads. The standard ear pads are soft leather and completely cover the ear providing reasonably good passive noise reduction and a comfortable fit for hours. But thay can be swapped out with an alternate set of ear pads that are smaller, flatter, cooler and convert these to on-ear headphones. Ear pads are held in place by 4 small plastic clips which work well enough but I would personally figure out which ear pads I wanted to use and stick with them. I don’t know how well those plastic clips will hold up if you regularly switch between both sets of ear pads. The Edifier app is available in the Play Store. One useful feature is the app notification in the Android slide-down notification shade which shows the headphone battery level and allows you to select whether you are using the standard leather style ear pads or the smaller ones that they call ice feel. There are buttons to choose between 3 sound modes–Classic, Hi-fi, and STAX, or to enable the low-latency Game Mode.Classic is the default sound you get when connecting these headphones to a Snapdragon Sound compatible device. Hi-Fi eliminates the tuning and provides a more accurate sound similar to what I got using these on my LG Velvet. If you like to equalize music or use another sound modification Hi-Fi mode without the default tuning may produce the best result. STAX creates an auditorium effect by adding a light amount of reverb. The full Edifier app gives you access to customize the double and triple-tap functions of the power key. You can also access the User Manual, set a Shut-down Timer, erase the Bluetooth pairing record stored in the headphones or return the headphones to their original factory settings. There is no equalizer that I could find and no button for checking if the firmware version of the headphones is up to date.In terms of build these headphones are made of plastic which is disappointing but Bose and Sony also use plastic for their premium headphones so that seems to be the norm these days even when you’re spending $300-$400 on a premium pair of headphones. Hinges allow you to fold the headphones so they will fit in the included case. Also included with the headphones are a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging, a 3.5mm headphone cable, and a 6.35mm headphone jack adapter but no USB adapter for phones that don’t have a headphone jack. After 3 weeks of daily use, I still haven’t needed to charge these yet. According to Edifier battery life is 80 hours and a 10 minute charge provides 11 hours of music. The fact that these headphones don’t have active noise canceling isn’t an issue for me but at this price point you can get premium Sony or Bose headphones with ANC which is something to seriously consider even if you do own a Snapdragon Sound compatible device. If you aren’t using a compatible phone these headphones are probably a waste of money.

One of the best wireless over-ear headphones on the market…

As an IT professional, gym rat, and gamer, I owned some major flagship headphones and earbuds. Some are Beats, Bose, JBL, Monster, etc. so I have different earbuds and headphones for different activities. Edifier STAX Spirit S3 is I am WOW! This is one of the best wireless over-ear headphones on the market FOR LISTENING to MUSIC, gaming, and talking on the phone. This is not a headphone you can wear and go to the gym (at least for me).It is not ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) headphones but you will not hear anything from outside at all. The headphones leak the sound outside if you listening to music so loud though so remember that. The sound quality is crystal crisp and clean. The design and the material quality are top-notch so you get what you paying for. The battery life is really really good and after almost a month I did not have any issue with the headphones at all. One other thing is it is very comfortable on the head. I wear them for almost 3 hours without any pain with my ears or head.Edifier STAX Spirit S3 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound Technology. If you are not familiar with this technology “It is an optimized chain of audio technologies and software that is designed to deliver high-resolution music, crystal-clear voice calls, and lag-free gaming with superior connectivity and extended battery life.” Also, go ahead and install the app for all the features. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

High-End Headphones That Are Worth the Money

I am a headphone snob. I’ve been using a pair of V-Modas for a few years and love them. But I’ve noticed they’re cutting out a bit, and I was worried they might be slowly dying.I’ve never heard of this brand, but I love trying out new high-end headphones. Like most headphones in this price range, the product comes in a nice, snazzy box, and the materials are carefully packed.I took one look at the instruction manual (the print is tiny, and I don’t see well) and decided to wing it. It was easy to charge and set up without reading the instructions, which is good.I easily paired it to my TV and phone. I could immediately tell the sound was great. Yes, it’s even better than the V-Moda–and they are wonderful. Clear, clean. It works great when listening to TV programs as well as music. I’m also looking forward to using it on phone calls. The headphones are lightweight. I even forget at times that they’re on.It comes with an aux-in cable and an additional set cooling-mesh earpad.VERY happy with these headphones.

Junk. These broke at the plastic part that holds the headphone part to the rest of it. Its just thin and cheap plastic. They want this much and they are flimsy junk. Do not buy. The sound is good but their going to break if you use them.

    So comfortable

These sound great and are very comfortable. They go completely around your ears, so your ears aren’t getting smashed. They come with two types of ear pads, one leather and one cloth. The leather is really soft and feels nice, but they are kind of hot. I wish it was easier to change the ear pads. You have to pry them off with a little tool they include. I thought I was going to damage something the first time I did it.

WIRELESS PLANAR MAGNETIC HEADPHONES THAT LOOK SEXY AND SOUND AMAZI— BROOOOO. Count me IIIIIIN!

The Edifier Stax Spirit 3 (thats long, lets just call these babies the S3’s from now on k?) seems to keep things relatively simple in design and overall features. Instead, they’re focused in the right places that actually matter; The audio technology, the quality of sound, the size, overall build quality of the headphone even down the the unboxing experience, and lastly the price. This is a very, very high quality headphone. It’s immediately apparent when you receive a box of packing foam for the box of the box that the headphones are in.—Design:Everything about this headphone is extremely high quality, like I said. Its just dripping in class and high-ended-ness-ess. Every single thing you are getting from Edifier and Stax with this headphone is just absolute fire and is totally “mwah!” chefs kiss. — The black and gold double S logo for im assuming stands for Stax Spirit pops out subtly, but nicely among the real genuine, yes real, carbon fiber. (You can actually just barely feel the weave texture.)The entire headphone including the extension and headband are plastic. Thankfully it is what feels like high quality material because they still feel very high end as far as consumer wireless headphones go. The headband adjustment is one of the two only things I can say I actually do not like about the S3’s. I wish it was a more stiff and tactile in its sizing increments so I could feel like I can pick them up after setting them down, and not feel like I need to double check if theyre still clicked in and adjusted to my preferred setting or not. I suppose for the design style they were going with it had to be this style of headband adjustment, but I feel it could have been done a bit better with stiffer size increment adjustments. The earcup cushions are pretty great! The lambskin ones are so soft and luxurious. I live in the California desert so these are a little too hot for summer! The “ice feeling” ear cushions are my personal favorite though, at least for the time being. I didnt notice a difference in passive sound isolation between these and the lamb skin cushions. (Be sure to switch the app setting to the corresponding type of ear cushions you have on; this makes sure the sound is being tuned correctly for one or the other specific ear cushion. It makes a difference, the cooling earpads setting boosts the lows a bit as far as I understand it.)The top inside headband seems to be the same lambskin used on the ear cups, so its really soft and feels nice and supportive on the head. The button system is great in my opinion. Its very simple; just a middle (play pause/voice assistant), volume up and volume down. The middle button can be remapped to do various commands by pressing it one, two, or three times. I have mine set to one click play/pause, and three clicks google voice assistant. Its simple and I like it.— Ohhhh the app. The app:Not great. It’s easy to navigate but half the app is dedicated to buying more Edifier stuff. Doesn’t give the premium headphone app feel ive become accustomed to. The app does a few things; It gives you three sound profiles; 1) Classic mode – This is my favorite. Sounds fullest and most balanced. 2) HiFi Mode – This seems to make things sound boosted in the mid range maybe and overall a little more range BUT was not fun to listen to for very long as it is a more analytical EQ profile and 3) STAX mode – Which sounds nice and is their signature EQ sound profile to go along with these headphones. Still, classic mode was my favorite. The modes can be bound to the middle key on headphones, or can be easily accessed in the drop down menu on my android phone. While the app allows you basic setting for the headphones, and shows battery status indicator, 70% of the app feels like an advertisement. I wish they would make a dedicated app for these headphones and not be using their generic Edifier smart connect app thing. It’s just very annoying as an experience, and feels unnecessary because of how little it actually does in real world application. You can listen via 3.5mm AUX. Because of how these are designed, wired mode still needs the headphones turned on and using the battery. But thats okay. Because it is 80 hours. And they charge fully in less than 2 hours. Like another reviewer mentioned, coupled with a DAC, even an entry level one, and you will awaken something unholy. KABLAM! But i’ll save the details because we are focusing on the wireless aspect of these headphones, as thats really what makes these so amazing isnt it? Wireless planar magnetic driver headphones!?! Sweeeeeet. ANyways…The battery is insane. I havent charged them since I opened them and its been like 8 or 9 days and I still have 13% left!!! I listen to them probably 6 or 8 hours a day on average, so a lot! Impressive that I can charge them one time via USB-C and i’ll be set again ALL week! It even has Fast Charge!!! If you ran them down to 0%, I think its 10 minutes gives you 11 hours. Or from 0-100% its about two hours. Thats it! What a time to be alive that I can fully charge my EIGHTY hour capacity wireless planar magnetic cans in JUST TWO HOURS!!! Those stats dump on anything Bose and Sony have to offer as their “industry leading” technology. For $400? Yeah there are no beating these. Absolutely phenomenal pair of headphones all around.—Sound features and some things that matter:The S3’s are definitely legit HiFi certified headphones. They certainly earned that badge by running Qualcomms latest chipset, the QCC 5141, which supports Bluetooth 5.2, and various HiFi audio codecs like Snapdragon sound, APTX HD, APTX Adaptive, APTX, and standard AAC and SBC.Bluetooth 5.2 is fire! I havent disconnected once and have walked around different rooms in the house even went to get mail didn’t disconnect with the phone in the house. Anyways, basically if you have a modern Android phone, youll likely be good and these will sound as intended. Couple them, with a desktop dac and 3.5mm cable and they sound a little fuller, but really not by much and I think I prefer their sound via bluetooth over wired. Cant believe im saying that but really these are THAT good!In collaboration and work with Equalmass Diaphragm Technology, as well as the Audeze Fluxor Magnetic Structure, the reason these are so special is because of who the people and companies are behind the technology making this sound possible.—The sound:Because these are Planar Magnetic headphones, the sound is so clear and accurate that in order to really appreciate what you have and to hear music the way the artists you love originally intended, you need to have the right type of audio track, or streaming service. No low quality youtube music videos, no spotify premium (itll do in a pinch if you turn audio streaming quality to highest!), no soundcloud. Listen to these the way they’re intended to be listened to. Tidal, .WAVs, .flacs, etc. Stick with those! Or get a cheap desktop dac if you listen hardwired a lot of time. Its worth it. For mobile and wireless, which I intend to take full advantage of, I prefer PowerAmp for Android with my phone that ios APTX compatible, as it has what I need and then some. The sound is nothing short of amazing. I like bass. Let me make it clear; I have listened to EDM and gone to raves for over a decade and all I listen to is bass music and other genres with low end bass and generally a wide sound stage. The S3’s sound amazing. They claim <0.5% harmonic distortion and I believe it. The bass is crisp, deep, and sounds so right. The middle and upper range are where these really shine. Songs that have many reversed high hats or cymbals or hard bass drops followed by drums or voice, its all beautifully separated and you can hear every part of the song in clarity. I love the vocals and perfection of separation that planar magnetic drivers give. You just hear it all. Its an amazing listening experience. Just amazing. I listen to music loud. And these sound GOOD loud! They're easy enough to power. At about 70-80% volume on bluetooth via PowerAmp on a Note 20: you wouldnt want to go any louder than that. Trust... But man wow Im so glad to have these they are really a marvel and a breakthrough in mobile/wireless hifi audio.Oh also, the microphone is excellent. My good old Mom thought I was talking into my speaker on my phone! The phone mic is a little louder than the S3's mic(s), however, the S3's mics are noticeably clearer sounding after asking some more people I had phone calls with the past few days.TLDR, final thoughts, bottom line:Like wow! I cant believe im wearing a pair of portable, good looking, good sounding, planar magnetic headphones with 80 hour battery and they're at a price that makes planar magnetic headphones not so outrageous! I have a hard time taking these off. When I need to shower I dont want to get in because that means I have to take these off! The app is cheesy and annoying, but still serves some function on the drop down menu from your phone to control the headphones. Having to turn them on to listen to them wired is not ideal. HOWEVER, because of how long the battery lasts, how fast they charge, how comfortable they are, and how just damn good they sound, combined with the fact theres nothing else out there that currently rivals these besides the DROP THX Pandas (but why on earth would you buy those and not these now???), so with all of that taken into consideration; it's not much to have to sacrifice considering what you're actually getting here. Im sure the app will be improved too by the way!The conclusion to my rambling review is: 100%, these things SHLAPPPPP. 100% you should get them if you would appreciate the best sounding wireless cans for daily use you could possibly get your hands on today.

The best in class for sound quality; not without it’s fault but easily dismissable from it’s wins.

Note: all opinions are my own and this item was bought with my own money with zero discounts or influence from any external factors.Tl;dr: These are probably the best you’re going to get for their price in terms of raw sound quality, paired with microphones that have no business sounding as good as these do and an 80 hour battery life, but beware they lack most of the “modern” functions of many bluetooth headphones.Summary:The Stax Spirit S3, despite the name carry more similarities to the Audeze Penrose/Mobius and LCD-1s than they do anything remotely related to stax. With that said, it’s a clever marketing stunt to slap a random acclaimed headphone brand on your entirely unrelated but intrisically connected company; good job at capturing attention of audio nerds with that, Edifier.Features/Whats missing:As mentioned above, these carry Audeze DNA, making use of what seems to be the same or similar planar magnetic drivers to the open-back LCD-1’s, albeit with a much less roomy sound and somehow less bass despite any profiles used.Alongside this, we have an 80 hour battery life (wow) which can charge to 10 hours with only 10 minutes and takes about 1 and a half hours to fully charge (I am yet to even need to charge these). Oh, and physical buttons, something I wish we would have kept given 70% of the time touch controls are a pain to use and being an industry standard doesn’t make them any better than buttons, see iPhone missing headphone jacks for reference. The buttons are easy to find, generally very clicky, plasticky covered with rubber, not the best sounding when you depress it as it sounds like a little twang but it’s buttons, what do you expect?Edifier has a barely advertised and uncustomisable application which is used to change the tuning between “Classic”, “Hifi”, and “Stax”; I personally found Classic to be somwhat v shaped harman-esque signature, Hifi to be a little bit more articulated but keeping in line with the harman vibes and Stax to just be very treble oriented and well… Not for me. I stick with Hifi.So what’s missing? ANC, Transparency mode, LDAC, customisable EQBuild: It’s “okay”, alot of people have whined and cried about it not being build excellent but it just feels as “okay” built as a XM4 or the LCD-1’s, not amazing but passable once you acknowledge you should be using it to play music instead of using them as earmuffs (shoutout to the idiots complaining about creaks when they’re missing when you play music).Sound:They sound like planars.. Wait, let me elaborate; these are very accurate, probably even more accurate than the Focal Celestee’s (£999) with good imaging, layering, seperation and as I said, accuracy. They’re not super bassy but they slam enough for me with enough subbass and midbass to make me smile when playing songs such as Kazuo’s “WATCH OUT!”The mids are nice, they’re a good listen for both male and female vocals and place the singer a realistic manner, reverberations in songs such as Brandon’s “Elastic” from his voice and guitar play are almost life-like and supremely accurate, similarly Alina Baraz’s “My Whole Life” sounds beautiful; the voices of these singers are very intimate but placed far enough for you to not feel as if you’re listening to a claustrophobic pair of headphones. If I had to compare I would put them above any closed-backs I have heard in terms of accuracy and placement and the spaciousness, granted they fall flat against even the KSC75 in those respects.Highs:I don’t really know what to say about highs, a lot of what I listen to is mid-centrics however instruments such as cymbals along with female vocalists sound rather pleasant, there is enough decay and control to avoid sibilance especially when listening to songs that can sound rather sibilant on other pairs. JYOCHO’s “Lucky Mother” is a rather busy track with alot of mixing between a flute, vocals and cymbals and all of which sound defined, proper, and smooth which is nice. Conclusion:They’re good, damn good even if you can ignore the lack of features.

Toller ausgewogener typisch magnetostatischer Klang.

Der Frequenzverlauf des Edifier STAX Spirit S3 ist out of the box perfekt.

    WAY better that Sony’s

I have both the comparable Sony BT headphones and these now and the Sony pair went back in their case. The sound on these is superior to the Sony MX3, at least. Not wired audiophile headphone quality, but very very good for wireless.

Build quality is plasticy and it feels like it’s easy to break.Sound quality is really clear and give very nice details in sound. Soundstage is wide. It’s on par or probably sounds better than the focal bathys.

Absurd battery, good audio, and lightweight.

Audio for both microphone and speakers are crisp and clear. Connection is solid and connects immediately. The mesh pads are confortable but will make a bunch of noise when even slightly moving, so i would recommend just sticking to the leather pads. Sound overall is good with nothing standing out, which is in a way a good thing. So it can be used with several types of media. Sadly it cannot connect to a PS5, so you’ll have to use a wire to connect to the controller, but that is a problem with the PS5 and not the headset. While pricy, this is pretty much the best wireless planar headset available. With an amazing battery life, you can enjoy this for long periods of time without worry.

Superb headphones if sound quality is your priority.

Edit: I ended up returning because the longer I wore them the more the plastic creaked. Was really annoying when playing games since there is a lot of times they aren’t having to produce any sound. But the sound quality is till top notch for the price.I’ve learned that the perfect headphones under $500 doesn’t exist. I’ve been really happy with my AirPods Max, but recently switched to a Samsung phone, so i decided to go all out with ditching Apple. Replacing the APM hasn’t been as easy as I thought it would be. Finally thought I had settled on the Momentum 4s, but had to give these Edifier’s a try. The difference in sound quality is night and day from any other bluetooth headphones that I have tried. Wired is even better. They lack a punch on bass that i normally love, but the clarity, wide staging, and volume is just unmatched by anything else in the same price range. They do have a plastic creaky noise when I move my head around, but I can only hear it if music has stopped or the volume is super low. My biggest complaint is the case. Why the heck did they have to make it so bulky and cheap looking? But like I said: if sound quality is your priority and you aren’t wanting to spend 1k+, you probably aren’t going to find a whole lot that sound better than these.

Reasonable price for high quality headphones with some caveats

At the time I was able to purchase these for $300 and at that price point they seem a good value for the money. The headphones use leather wrap around and on the ear pads. They also come with a second set of “cooling ear pads”ProsPlanar magnetic Bluetooth headphones (not many exist)Very good audio qualityVery good microphone qualityGreat battery life2 sets of easy to change ear padsNice carrying caseWeight is fine for long use.ConsControls are only 3 buttons making it difficult to memorize how long to press each button, how many times to price etc. when you want volume control, track seek, pause etc.Really wish they used a higher quality material for the band and arms. The plastic creaks a lot, it’s audible with the headphones on (not if audio is playing). No LDAC support. The best codec is Qualcomm Aptx HD. Most people probably won’t notice a difference but it’s an important missing feature for those who care. Aptx HD is 24bit/48khz sample rate vs LDAC 32bit/96khz.App is pretty barebones but does what is needed if you want to use it. Not much value added.

Skeptic won over in 1 day

I didn’t feel great about this purchase. Spending $400 for bluetooth headphones seemed excessive. I was happy with the crisp sound quality from my $120 Sennheiser HD 4.40. I don’t need bass that rattles my skull (a reference to my misguided Skullcandy Crusher™ year.) I wanted a second Sennheiser, but sadly that wonderful model was replaced by the HD 350BT. The “improved” version gets mediocre reviews; the dwindling discontinued options now sell for twice the price of the new replacement. As a music lover who prioritizes sound quality, I consider active noise cancellation a hate crime. I know ANC has its place, but the inevitable distortion introduced can’t be justified for even casual audiophiles, IMO. A google search will find confirmation of ANC sound quality compromises. There aren’t a lot of highly regarded bluetooth headphone options focused on audiophiles, certainly not < $500.The physical sound isolation of the Edifier S3 ear cups is excellent, I expect more than sufficient for most environments.Although the Edifier S3 feels a bit heavy in my hand, I don’t notice the weight on my head. It is similarly comfortable as my very light Sennheiser. The sound of the Edifier is glorious. Audiophiles talk about “soundstage” – the imagined 3D placement of instruments. I’m definitely hearing that spatial separation now. I suppose I could load the app and tweak up bass slightly, but the default setting is more than satisfying. The expense of these headphones is well justified for my priorities. 21 people found this helpful

    Amazing with one Shameful Flaw

I wanted a planar magnetic wireless headphone to be able to enjoy while out and about. I don’t really care about having an app with a headphone, so the rather bare bones app that Edifier supplies is more than adequate for me. I love the fact that you can choose between three sound modes right on the headphones. Even though there is no noise cancelling, sound isolation is sufficient for me, even when riding on trains to commute. And I love the punchy bass this headphone has. Combine that with the fantastic mids and airy treble, and I am very happy so far. Now, I debating giving this headphone a 3 or a 4 star. The reason is that this headphone creaks like nobody’s business around the earcups. I can usually ignore it, but sometimes it gets to the point I just want to take these off and jump on them and smash them into pieces. I gave these 4 stars because when the creaking isn’t being overly annoying, they do sound great and I find them to be very comfortable. However, I almost made this a 3-star review by taking off one star for the creaking and then another star for Edifier being completely shameful in knowingly releasing a $400 pair of headphones that CREAKS!!!! I refuse to believe they did not know that the plastic joints where the earcups meets the rest of the headphone that swivel was very prone to ridiculous amounts of creak. However, this review is being written on Christmas Eve, so joy and good will to man, and all that other stuff, therefore Edifier gets a 4-star though they probably deserve a 3-star. Anyway, if you can get past the creaking, or if you get lucky and get one of the sets that do not creak, then you should be perfectly satisfied with what you get.
