Mysterious gaming monitor with serious compromises
This is a basic gaming monitor with a strange, ominous, mysterious feature set, and high price tag, from a company that doesn’t even have a website?Pros:IPS display has good colors and viewing angles360Hz for high refresh gamingFull featured adjustable standIncluded DisplayPort cable supports 360HzSimple, clean design with RGB that can be turned offCons:Price ($269) too high, should be ~$230 at most.27″ 1080p is really low pixel density so fine detail looks blurryUndocumented FreeSync range (What are the lower and upper bounds in Hz?)Undocumented “flicker free” setting (what does it do??)Undocumented “MPRT” setting (what does it do??)HDMI limited to 120HzFull review:The panel technology is IPS, which is, in my opinion, the best panel type below OLED. So that is great.The pixel density of this Haurve monitor is very low, so you will notice jaggy lines and imperfections with how text appears. This is a puzzling design choice from the manufacturer, so take this as a buyer beware warning from myself. For example: all of my monitors are either 27″ 1440p or 32″ 1440p so they look sharper than this Haurve monitor. Make sure you understand what you are buying.Pixels-per-inch (PPI) pixel density of some common resolutions and sizes:24″ 1080p: ~92 PPI27″ 1080p: ~82 PPI <- This monitor27" 1440p: ~109 PPI32" 1440p: ~91 PPIFreesync support is found within the monitor's on-screen display, but it's not clear what the Freesync range is. Gamers want to know what the Freesync range is so that they won't get tearing if they go outside the range.The manufacturer printed a worthless instruction manual that fails to describe what any of the monitor features do. The manual gives you almost no useful information. And Haurve doesn't appear to even have a website where you can submit a question. Red flag.I suppose that this monitor is aimed at an eSports gamer who wants to play something like Counter Strike 2 at 360Hz.Honestly, this monitor's feature set does not appeal to me.
