HTC Vive Pro 2 Headset only Video Games

It’s much better than it’s predecessor

I hope you read this before the 1 star reviews.I actually own an Oculus Rift, Pimax 8KX and HTC Vive. I can honestly say that my latest purchase of the HTC Vive Pro 2 has gone down really well. The headband is more like the Pimax, instead of elasticated fabric you have a proper, substantial headband that tightens onto your head via a handle on the back. This makes it less likely to need constantly adjusting to keep the sweet spot. It also boasts a 120hz and 4K resolution that is set up in the Vive app by simply selecting Display Settings and clicking on Ultra or Extreme. Bear in mind, if you have an older display card you may not be able to use your headset on these settings.Out of all the headsets I own I can comfortably say that this Vive Pro 2 is by far the best. The Pimax is an 8K unit (4K per eye) and the clarity on this bad boy is far more superior and in my opinion is better built too.The headset weight is not that much heavier than the original Vive and actually not much in it at all.The speakers/headphones on this headset seem to be just as good as any other headset. No buzzing, no distortion and no loss of sound. They are a vast improvement over the ones fitted to the Pimax. The Pimax speakers need to be set up as 5.1 every single time you use the headset, although there are only 2 speakers! These are set up as stereo right from the moment the headset is plugged in.The display area is much better on this new headset and the only other headset that has this kind of view is the Pimax and this headset has far more superior screens inside.You can set this headset up with the older 1.0 lighthouses or obviously you can use the newer 2.0 lighthouses. Again with the controllers, you can use the Vive 1.0 controllers or the newer 2.0 controllers. I am not sure regarding the Valve Index controllers, but I imagine you would be able to use any.I normally look at the negative comments before looking at any positives. I hope you look at this first and make a decision from this review. I have been honest and own a few headsets to compare it with so I can probably make better comparisons than most. Also, the better graphic card (GPU) you have, the better and more immersive the VR will be.

High Resolution, Low Comfort.

Wanting to replace my Valve Index headset I decided to go for the new Vive, considering I’d had the original back in the day and liked it well enough. This was a mistake.The first Vive was quite heavy and this is just as bad, the ergonomics in general are just terrible. This is a very unwieldy device that clamps onto your head, and if you want to use the attached headphones it’s even more uncomfortable.I was fairly impressed with the resolution, it’s now equivalent to examing a nice LED monitor from a couple inches away instead of an old LCD with visible pixels. We’re a long way from the screen door effect of old, but still not quite to the point of it being truly seamless. Damn close, though.That said, your field of view is not particularly great. You’re looking through two box shaped holes that are hard to ignore. The lenses aren’t really much different to those found in the other headsets I’ve tried, except for the fact that they LOVE to steam up after just a few minutes. This could occasionally be a problem in the Index if I was doing something strenuous like soundboxing, but here just sitting in the headset you start misting up.And we haven’t even got to the awfulness that is the Vive software yet, which must always be running alongside SteamVR. I could’ve taken that if the device itself was good, but this is one of the most obtuse and awkward things I’ve ever hooked up to my computer. You’d think they’d have ditched the breakout box by now but no, and I’ve yet to find a strap position that helps my head take the weight of this thing.I would recommend any other headset over this, it’s not comfy, it’s a hassle to set up, and its only selling point is negated by the poor lenses.

Been 4 months and short time for screen damaged

I don’t recommend to buy this. This could damage anything because Vive can’t stop starting up and damaging my headset but I have another VR still working without problem with Index VR. I can’t believe this I did bought this. I can’t fix the display I have no clue how to fix it but I’ve tried everything with computer stuff such as clear cache, reinstall driver and more.Make no sense my friends told me that’s not good to use it. I’ve played VRChat most time on VR and I was happy but not happy now. When you tried to run a game aka Roblox will damage your VR.Update: Which do not force to turn hub off will cause make your VR burn-in but there is a way can fix burn-in about in hour not so bad. I am currently using vive console beta should not damage anything I haven’t got a burn-in on my vr.

Warning! It is NOT standalone and requires additional sensors to work.

Needs additional sensors to work even for stationary games like a Flight Sim as no built in head tracking. I should have got the full kit which incudes sensors and controllers or a deferent headset.

Best headset if your system is high end

If you own a PC with a 3080 or equal then this is great, better images when running in ultra. Unfortunately my system is not as good as my friends and I can’t run in extreme or ultra so I have had to return
