It’s not bad, but you absolutely MUST know and consider how you intend to use your Vive.
I’ve bought, installed, and played with this for the full first 2.5ish hour charge. There are things I like about it, and there are things that for my playstyle I absolutely hate. The good:- The tracking and connectivity work very well, I’ve noticed little to no difference to being fully plugged in.- Makes it easier to have a set up further away from your computer itself- Gives you the advertised freedom of movement, IE no more getting tangled in your own cable. The bad:- The setup is miles more difficult than I would’ve expected. Not so much so to make it prohibitive, but far more than I’d ever want to do twice. Which fully negates the whole reason I bought it. If you want to use your headset for extended periods of time you’ll either have to re connect the cable, or invest in a third party battery solution which may or may not work, or damage the unit. I intend on using my wireless for parties and honestly even that I’m questioning the usefulness of. without an extended battery life, or the need to purchase 2-3 batteries this just doesn’t cut it as a party game enhancement.- It’s awkward, if you ever want to game sitting down this isn’t the option for you particularly if you have a high back chair. Because of the new antenna it’s not as forgiving. I get that you have the wireless to be more mobile, but if you’re only ever using wireless you may at some point want to sit down. The Meh:- It’s not super heavy, but the extra weight of the wireless antenna is noticeable, and so is the new pad that they added to help fight that. You’ll need to readjust your headband and strap.

Great if you hate cables
This is a great product for some people, I have mine on a vive pro eye with a face tracker and have no issues with it running together, you WILL need extra battery packs and make sure you mount the antenna up high or you will have lots of disconnects once you get everything aimed correctly I don’t have many issues with it occasionally it will go grey and reconnect within a couple seconds but other than that it’s great, I get about 2 hours of playtime with the default battery and keep 3 spares so they are always ready for those long sessions. It does get VERY hot on the top so you might need to add a fan to keep it from cutting out as well after it heats up

Battery for headset only lasts 1 hour
I play a lot of videogames and in VR and one hour of time for this device is not that great. The battery pack needs to be charged with a fast charging cable and a 18w power supply or the battery pack will not charge. If you want a battery pack that will last longer then you need to get a separate one. I recommend the akner power core iii elite 26k 18w output, it gives you six hours of play time. Once the battery is done the headset will go dark, and you have to restart your whole computer if you want to use another battery pack. Other than that it does what it says. It is wireless, your headset feels better on your head with it. Oh I forgot the thing over heats alot and it will lose tracking. If I would have known all of this, I wouldn’t have forked out 300 dollars. I use my cable all the time.

it works pretty well…
I really like the idea of wireless. However it does not run my games as well as the cord. I get the gray screen or fall through the floor a few times per session. Also the unit gets pretty hot. Not burn myself but its pretty warm to the touch.

Sort of a bummer
While it came on the said date, I was hoping to set it up for a test run only to find out that it did not include the battery pack and usb to connect to the receiver. At least I can connect it to my cosmos when I get a battery for it, but for now its just in the box wiring for its time to shine

Pretty good
Works well for the most part. Has some issues if you bend over facing away from the wireless transmitter since line of sight is required, and sometimes can’t recover without power cycling. battery doesn’t give any warning that it’s about to die if you’re not looking at it (which you’re not since there’s a screen literally strapped to your face), but makes VR content so much more immersive

Overheats if you play for long periods
The Vive wireless does what it’s supposed to do. Provide a wireless VR experience. But I’m a VRChat player and sometimes I’m on VR for long periods of time. If I don’t have my A/C and room fan blasting the unit overheats and causes my screen to gray out. This usually happens around the 3 hour mark. I would have to buy a 3rd party fan mount to keep the unit from overheating.

Title needs to be changed
This is for the Vive Pro and Vive Cosmos. It does not say this in the title. It will work with the original Vive but you have to use your 10 foot cable to connect the wireless reciever to the headset. I coiled mine up and put it on top of the headset, it adds a lot of weight but works exactly as intended.

Works and easy to install.
Was pretty intimidated at the instructions as a non computer kinda person. However it was super easy to install. The step by step instructions on the website were pretty good. Can confirm this works for Vive Cosmos Elite system.Only negative is the price. This is an insane price but when you have a 9 year old playing and twisting/breaking the cord from the original headset this is a must if you want them to enjoy the system.

Interesting & Useful Tech – Outclassed at a Lower Price Point for Most
I play a fair bit of VR. Not as much as I used to, but when my trusty Valve Index finally bit the bullet after 3 years of service, I wanted to try to side-grade. I already had the base stations and equipment necessary to integrate into SteamVR with (what should have been) a drag-and-drop hardware replacement – a Vive Cosmos Elite. When I had the money, I ended up purchasing the wireless adapter and have been using it for a few months in total now.Context for the review, here is my VR setup:- Vive Cosmos Elite w/ Wireless Adapter- 2x Valve Knuckle Controllers- 3x Vive 2018 Tracking Pucks- 3x SteamVR 2.0 base stationsI mostly played VRChat, Blade & Sorcery, Tactical Assault VR, and Beat Saber. All 4 had no trouble transmitting all their data, with only the occasional grey-screen-of-death that would resolve itself within 30 seconds, either on its own or by me unplugging and plugging the power cable to the adapter back in. I found the included power bank to be good for shorter play sessions (around 2 hours), but I ended up switching to a power bank I already owned.IF YOU SWITCH POWER BANKS, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE IT WILL WORK! PLEASE DO YOUR OWN TESTING!For reference, the included power bank lists its output at 5-6V @ 3A, 6.2-9V @ 2.3A, 9.2-12V @ 1.75AMine lists its output as 5-6V @ 3A, 6-9V @ 2A, 9-12V @ 1.5AThe adapter itself isn’t unwieldy beyond the cord running down my spine to my pocket/waist which can be run through my clothes to avoid the issue entirely. It does get warm but doesn’t cause any discomfort while wearing the headset for upwards of 4-5 hours at a time playing VRC. Even laying down with it while in FBT isn’t uncomfortable, and I don’t really notice the extra weight or cable. If you ALREADY HAVE a compatible headset/equipment, an open PCIe slot, and want the untethered experience, this is a pretty decent option. However, it’s worth mentioning that other standalone headsets can actually be connected to your PC as well (namely, Quest Link which works over your wifi network which is compatible with Meta Quest headsets), and there are open source projects such as OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator on GitHub that let you mix and match Inside-Out and Outside-In tracking spaces (with a healthy amount of jank). With the Quest hardware at such a low price-point compared to requiring already owning a headset AND THEN buying this adapter on top of it, I can’t recommend this to anyone except people who are against Meta hardware and/or don’t want to deal with outdated but functional software to keep their other SteamVR goodies working. As an additional note, the Vive software is fairly simple to use once you get past the initial installation. It took me nearly 2 hours to troubleshoot getting my headset to even register on my PC, but since then it has calmed itself down and I only need to open the Vive Wireless app to access my headset with no strings attached. There is some overhead added on by these app requirements, but if you’re considering buying this you probably have a PC that can tank it with little to no issues anyways.tl;dr Buy if you want untethered and already have compatible hardware. If not, buy a Quest 2/3 and use Quest Link.

Just like wired, except it’s not.
Got this for my cosmos elite so I could finally finish my dream vr setup, wireless headset, index controllers, and 2.0 base stations. Setup was incredibly simple, it took me less than 20 minutes. The hardest part was getting the headset to connect to the computer, I just had to reinstall the software and press the power button a few times, then it finally connected. At first I was afraid having PCI-E gen 2.0 would be a problem, but it actually turned out to work perfectly fine with my MSI b450 tomahawk. While the page does list that AMD chipsets have issues, this is no longer the case. I have found that this issue was fixed a long time ago with driver updates yet for some reason they still haven’t updated the page. As long as you have a capable CPU, I would 100% recommend the adapter, it completely changes the experience and makes your play-space feel much larger. If I were to list one problem though, it would be the battery life. The included battery only gets you up to 2 hours of playtime max, usually less. I play vr all day long, so this is kind of a big deal to me. You can purchase more batteries though, which completely solves the issue.

Using on vive pro 2.
Works great. Makes moving my set up to other rooms…or outside…wayyyyy easier. Re-energized my love of VR. You do have to deal with the battery pack cable, but thats only attached to you not a pc. I use a ravpower 20000mah qc 3.0 in addition to the included brick. Ive spent 4 hours straight on that rav power and it wasnt dead. Included power cable is usb-a to usb-a fyi.

Super Easy and Better than I had hoped
The setup is easy enough that even a novice could do it and the module is a lot lighter than I expected. It does get really hot though, and while it’s not unbearable while using it, try not to touch it.

Horribly overpriced for what it is, but what choice do you have?
The HTC Vive Pro is a good device, but the fact that it requires such a fragile and short cord that can not be extended is a pathetic situation for the sky-high price of the headset. Enter this wireless adapter. Again, horribly overpriced, but if you’ve already sunk almost a thousand dollars for a VR headset, and it has a pathetic excuse for a cord, then this overpriced wireless adapter will make the bad situation better – and even more expensive. Honestly, an Oculus Quest 2 at three hundred dollars is equal to or better than the HTC Vive Pro plus this wireless headset but, as I said – if you’re already short a thousand on the Vive Pro, add another financial disaster to that and get this wireless headset. NOTE: You MUST have an available PCI slot in your PC to use this wireless adapter. After the financial heartburn, at least you now have as much VR freedom to move around as the three hundred dollar Quest 2.

Great Performance but VERY expensive.
I was a little nervous that the adapter would be heavy and cumbersome when it arrived but it balanced nicely on the headset when installed. Lets talk about that though. The installation was not what I would call an “easy” task. It did have instruction to follow which was helpful but honestly attaching a $350.00 wireless adapter to a $700.00 headset (that you had to disassemble in the first place) was a little more involved than the product description let on. On top of that I don’t feel like most average VR consumers are comfortable opening the guts of their PC’s to install the card into the PCIE slot. The caveat to that last part is that it really wasn’t difficult to find and insert but I know just enough about my computer to know where it was at already. THE ONE BIG DOWNSIDE to the adapter is by and large the BATTERY!!! It takes a very long time to fully charge even with a Q3 adaptive charging block and the battery runs out quickly. I understand why as it has to draw a very large amount of power to run the headset but after charging it for 10 hours I expected a bit more than 2-3 hours of play. I bought it to untangle myself when I’m using VR for flight simulators and the game is a very involved one that requires time which the battery is just lacking in. The last con I could give would be the price. I know you have to pay for quality but you can get an entirely new wireless headset that does not require a PC at all for $50.00 cheaper than what you would pay for JUST the wireless adapter from HTC. Your customers already showed loyalty when they shelled out for the also VERY expensive headset. I mean I feel like the 1 month free subscription to VIVEPORT that came with the adapter was really just a slap in the face. The headset was twice as expensive and it had a 6 month subscription.NOW THE GOOD! The performance of the adapter is amazing. It has only lagged a handful of times (which I blame my PC for not the adapter). It has good range and using the VIVE wireless program fires up in about 30 seconds from the time the power comes on to when I can jump into a game. I don’t mind paying for quality and the unit does as advertised but the price tag hurt and I can say if something happens to where I find myself needing another one I probably won’t be willing to pay that much for it again.

Hopefully a good thing >:-/
I put a five star because I hope it’s a good product. Just wish it was more ‼️obvious that it CAN’T BE USED WITH A NOTEBOOK!! My main concern was If my laptop is powerful enough , well i never found out because to install you need a pci slot . So, I put it aside 😡 till one bright day when I can buy a desktop.

After years of getting tangled in wires I decided to try this out when I saw it on sale around Xmas time, very happy with it, installation. Was easy and I’m not the most tech savvy person, not completely useless but far from a pro also. I had no problems installing it and the software and it works flawlessly, I picked up an extra battery pack a: INIU Power Bank, 20000mAh Portable Charger USB C in&out, 22.5W PD3.0 QC4.0 Fast Charge External Battery Pack

Nice to be disconnected at the umbilical cord
Removing the umbilical cord and going wireless is awesome, smooth frame rates with 99.9% no stuttering and that 0.1% of a stutter is so small it’s hardly noticeable. Now for the bad….battery life, it comes with 1 battery and it dies just under 2 hours of use and trying to find more batteries or figure out what batteries are compatible, good luck, the few I have found has a price tag of $150-$200/ battery.Overall I definitely recommend but keep your sessions shorter or be prepared to plug the umbilical cord back in to finish your session.

Frees you of the wires while VR gaming.
My HTC Vive Pro recently stopped working… it turns out the headset cable failed due to being spun around too much :(I contacted HTC, but they wouldn’t do anything.I then looked at the cost of a new cable and it’s around $100.Since I know it’ll fail like the 1st one did, I decided to get this wireless adapter and it’s been amazing.I no longer have to keep track of my rotations (using fpsVR).I can just play and let the guardian system keep me from running into or punching walls or other objects in my room.I’ve only had the wireless adapter overheat once and shutdown.Other than that, it lasts around 2-3 hours of continuous play, which is plenty for me.I’ve read online that you can use any battery bank that supports QuickCharge 3, but my battery bank doesn’t seem to work.So I just use the 1 official HTC batter that this set comes with. This set comes with everything that you need to get your Vive Pro up-and-running.Just be sure that you have 1 free PCI-E x1 slot available for the add-on card.

Lightweight, comes in a full kit.
You will get the full kit, somes stuff you dont even need or want to use. Do not buy it if you have a laptop without thunderbolt though or just a laptop. Thats the reason I had to build a pc. Worth anyway, graphics are smooth and resolution is at its highest. The battery is the only heavy thing, I have a structure on which I strap myself to play so i attached it to it now I dont even feel the battery and no cable problems. Loves it

I get ride of the attached wires to the google. The range is good because I have to be in the range of detector too. It is not a burden on my head. It is much better than having wired connected. I highly recommend it.
