I originally got this headset at launch and at that point in time it deserved all the hate it got, easily a 2/5 for me. now in 2024 I’d say that’s completely flipped. Nearly all the issues it originally had have been addressed. The software feels complete and free of bugs. There’s an actually decent standalone game library now, I think 100+ games. PC streaming has been significantly overhauled and now feels pretty much flawless. There’s a new facial interface that’s 1000x more comfortable than the original one (Make sure yours has the PU leather narrow facial interface or buy one if it doesn’t). The USB port now supports headphones (You’ll need a splitter if you want to use headphones in glasses mode). It seems that the quality control issues have been resolved as the replacement I got was free of defects. It now has full body and eye/face tracking addons that work spectacularly. Overall I’d say right now it’s the headset I was hoping it would be when it launched.

As somebody new to VR, this headset provides a very user-friendly, and welcoming interface. Adjusting to the controls was very easy and simple, as the user interface has a built-in tutorial. This headset also has software in order to connect to PC’s. That software is easy to use as well. The joysticks feel nice and durable, and the headset itself is comfortable around the heads and is adjustable with people with larger heads (Or smaller). The boundaries feature on this headset is impressive as well when you get near the invisible boundary using this headset. There’s a feature where you can poke your head out and see into the outside world. And unlike most older VR headsets, this headset also includes cameras in the front. This allows you to quickly look around you without having to take off the headset. My recommendation when getting this headset is to make sure the controllers are charged, as mine had a low battery out of the box.

I like the compatibility with other Vive products like the ultimate trackers and the eye+ face tracker I purchased for it however the stock face plate is uncomfortable being all foam so I will have to replace it

I’ve been using the XR Elite to revisit some of my favorite VR games and the experience has been phenomenal. Everything just looks and feels better on the XR Elite. I didn’t get this feeling with the Quest. So if you’re looking for the best VR headset on the market, the Vive XR Elite is the way to go. It’s comfortable, powerful, and easy to use. I highly recommend it. The headset is incredibly comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time. The visuals are outstanding, with sharp and vibrant colors. The hand tracking is superb, with no noticeable lag or jitter. The battery life is also excellent. The Vive XR Elite has the best passthrough I’ve ever seen on a VR headset. It’s so clear and bright that it’s like I’m not even wearing a headset. This is an exaggeration, but I can easily see my surroundings and interact with the real world without having to take off the headset. With the frequent software updates, MR functionalities are being added and the quality of the passthrough has also been improving. But this headset needs more games and apps.

I’m a programmer, and I use these to code all day. There are a good number of apps for this, I use Vspatial primarily. It’s amazing to have a bunch of monitors floating around with the various resources and apps I need all visible at once, something I could never get right with any number of monitors.I have used it for gaming here and there and some of the workout stuff is cool, but of all the VR headsets I’ve had in my life this one stays comfortable all day long and I’m not sweating after having it on for two hours. If you are looking for top notching VR gaming you’re probably better off with a dedicated gaming headset for that because sometime the wireless is laggy or the quality will jump up and down. It just wrecks the immersion. For the price and your privacy I would highly recommend these over the quests.

I own several consumer and enterprise hmds from Meta, Pico, and HTC, and my current favorite is the HTC Vive XR Elite for the following reasons:(1) The headset is very light and comfortable when using the fabric facial interface, overhead strap, and battery cradle. It fits my average-size face and nose well, is nicely balanced, and the fan keeps everything cool and the optics free of condensation. Thankfully, there’s no need to use the enclosed glasses wings (which feel like giant tweezers pinching behind your ears). HTC needs to offer longer replacement wings for the headset to be usable in “glasses mode.”(2) The unique diopter adjustment is a godsend for people like me who are nearsighted and would prefer not to wear glasses or contacts when using an hmd. The pancake lenses give a crystal-clear view with a wide sweet spot and no god rays. There’s a bit of cloudiness and light bleed in high contrast scenes, but it’s not noticeable in most cases.(3) The new MR face gasket (2 for $25) is excellent for mixed reality applications, allowing use of peripheral vision. It provides a sufficient offset so that people with astigmatism can wear corrective lenses (which is not possible with the fabric facial interface). It’s also helpful for novice users who become disoriented or experience motion sickness with fully immersive VR interfaces.(4) The XR Elite delivers on other important dimensions, including image resolution, video pass-through, audio quality, and tracking, with performance that’s as good or better than other, competitive headsets. The original list price ($1,099) is a hard sell, but with recent price cuts, promotions, and “used-like new” options available, the headset can be an excellent value. Of course, the competitive landscape continues to change, with the launch of the Quest 3 and next year’s release of the Pico 5 and Apple Vision Pro. Until there’s an HMD with significantly better performance, I’ll continue using the XR Elite as my daily driver.(If you buy an XR Elite, note that the equipment fits fine in non-OEM cases for the Vive Focus 3, which uses the same controllers. Also, to eliminate controller battery drain when you’re done using the equipment, press and hold the Vive buttons until they fully power off.)

The beauty of HTC Vive XR Elite is that you’re not fully engulfed in Virtual Reality. You’re still seeing all of your real world, but the virtual stuff comes to you! This is a wonderful way to introduce newcomers to VR who may not feel comfortable completely cut off from their surroundings. So, now you can exercise with a virtual trainer, box against a computer opponent in your own living room, or explore your house which can be haunted with ghosts. All this can be done without worrying about kicking your dog, watching if your baby wanders away or smashing your skull into a real TV set.One other advantage, it cuts down the possibility of motion sickness which can be a problem for certain people. The one big complaint about mixed reality – the passthrough is kind of fuzzy, so your real world has kind of a grainy film over it, and when combined with the stunning virtual objects, there’s a stark difference. Good lighting helps the situation, but ultimately, it becomes a non-issue because once your play area is combined with the virtual world, you won’t even be much concerned about the quality; your room becomes the backdrop as your eyes are mainly focused on the virtual parts, leaving the whole mix to be quite convincing.I recomend it.

Playing with it for 2 weeks. Sharing my experience of using it. First of all, the user experience is fantastic. It has beautiful design, accuracy motion sensor, and is also very comfy even wiring it for hours. I think the company put a lot of effort on designing the headset. It comes with lens and software to adjust it. For people who wear glasses, this feature is superb. The resolution of the tuning gear is very precise. I don’t feel any different than wearing a glass. HTC Vive XR Elite also comes with a power bank that can connect to the headset. The easy connection and wearing design makes it really easy to put on. On the back of the power bank you have a nob to adjust head set to make it fit for you. The cushion is very soft and comfy. It won’t leave any marks after using it for hours. The headset is also very light, so the overall wearing experience is very great. The headset also has very good motion sensing accuracy. I am a user of other vr products as well. I am amazed by HTC’s motion sensing accuracy. It can recognize your gesture easily at first try. So I don’t need to bother repeating each gesture which looks very stupid. As standard, this HTC vr also comes with a high resolution camera systems for you to live in the real world. The overall user experience is very good. and it is a great VR product and brings a lot of fun. This product does not come with virtual keyboard typing feature. Hope this can come soon with the power of current high accuracy sensing system. Then I can use it for work too.

Finally have the HTC Vive XR Elite Virtual Reality Headset in my hands and can’t wait to put it to the test. One of its standout features is its dual capability, seamlessly switching between Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) with just a double-click of a button on the headset, which is good, and thats why they call it XR.The headset itself is impressively lightweight, ensuring no strain on the head even during extended use. The option to swap out the battery is a game-changer, offering freedom from constant power cables and even transforming the headset into a sleek pair of glasses for on-the-go use.A standout feature for me is the lens-free design, which allows users to adjust the sight directly on the headset, making it incredibly user-friendly, especially for those with vision issues.BUT the mobile app is terrible, and in warmer temperatures, the fan noise can be slightly distracting. Additionally, objects appear slightly enlarged in AR mode.Overall, this product is good because it combines AR and VR functionality with thoughtful design elements like the replaceable battery and user-friendly sight adjustment, I like it overall.
