    So far, so good!

I like this, I’m getting the xbox version and I just got the nintendo version, that’ll make it a clean sweep as far as my collection, and the only problem is that I’d like this to have the hall effect sticks, but….you never know!

Excellent When You’re On The Move

This is a great device for portability with great visuals. The unit allows you some level of privacy if you need it, allows others to use the TV and you still want to play your PS5, and it’s a brick if there are no wireless internet connections available.

    GOOD

It’s great quality. The gameplay on it is small and laggy. You’ll have to be running some excellent wifi signal in order for it to be good. Overall it’s fun, but it is hard with sh00ting games.

    Great for mobility!

Fits fantastic in the hand. Quality product and great price. Only issue I have is sometimes it randomly disconnects from PS5 or has a hard time connecting. This does not happen often and it could just be my internet though so I can’t really fault the device yet it’s annoying.

Make sure PS5 is connected by LAN Cable, or you’ll be disappointed.

From the first attempt at playing games on a wireless connection of 400mb/s, the lag was unbearable and could not get through 30 seconds without a glitch. Changed my PS5 to a LAN line and all issues were resolved. I can Fortnite and Mortal Kombat with no lag now. It was just too much to have the PS on WiFi and expect the portal to piggyback with no issues. The OLED screen is beautiful as well.

    A fine streaming device

At first it refused to connect to my PS5. After some troubleshooting, updates, and several reboots, it has been working fine. The screen is large and vivid, it has great haptics and good audio. It still streams at a lower consistent framerate than my iPhone 15 – which is always a solid 60 – with the occasional hiccup, but it’s acceptable.

    What a treat!!!

I just started gaming, bc my nephew is at that age and I decided to learn more about it so I can bond and see what the whole gaming is about. I bought a PC and then decided to get a PS5, but I normally don’t sit on my PC and since I’ve never gamed before (in my 40’s now) I wasn’t sure if this is something I would get into.I got the portal, to see if maybe I would use it and get into something I’d like since it does not require me to be in front of the screen or still in one place. What a treat! So easy to use, I know nothing about consoles, graphics…. Etc. what I can tell you is that it was easy to set up. I learnt on YouTube the best settings for the PS5. I go to work and during my lunch, Astro Bot and I go at it! And it is soooo much fun!!For me, I haven’t seen any lagging. Haven’t had any issues with connecting (I use my job’s public interment access) and when I get home, before bed; I get on it and play for a couple of mins (which means a couple of hours)I would totally recommend it 🙂 and I like the price too! It’s so much fun 🙂

    Great when you have connection

This product is phenomenal when you have a good internet connection. I’m able to play any game from my PS5. It’s really a fantastic way to have your games on the go without having to buy a separate copy for your portable gaming.I will say it’s best to have a good grasp of the game on console before switching to this, especially if the game uses button prompts on the screen. For example, Madden is really tough to see the icons for “secure catch” or “run after catch.” If you know the controls by heart, it’s no big deal.It runs really well of phone hotspotting, you just have to manually configure the network first. It will burn through hotspot data FAST. Like 5gigs every 1-2 hours. So this is only really a viable option if you have unlimited high speed hotspot.I’ve found a few local places that have a strong enough signal on free WiFi to play without interruption. It just takes experimenting.I do wish the screen was a bit bigger, a tablet size screen would really do well. At the same time, I get they’re still trying to keep it compact.

    Portal, but connectivity issues

Certain games are better playing it cozy laying in bed, so thats why I got the Ps Portal. Also, to be able to play my game while using the smart TV to stream a show or movie. Do note, you can’t watch media on the ps5 and play a game on the portal the same time. The downside of the portal is that of the internet is being slow it can cause connectivity issues on the portal and disconnects it. It gets laggy in certain areas of the house sometimes.

Nice solution when kids take over the TV

I was tired of moving my PS5 to different tvs in the house and I like to play on our living room one. Looked at getting a steam deck and then saw this. It I wanted, access to PS5 when my kid has the TV. Visually, it’s a lot better than what I expected. Controls are fine, unless you’re playing a shooter and then it’s just a tad bit more difficult to aim. I do play an online multiplayer game, and I do get disconnected/severe lag often but it’s not a deal breaker for me. All in all, I would recommend this as it’s a cheaper alternative to other options out there.

PlayStation Portal Remote Player – PlayStation 5

The PlayStation Portal Remote Player is an intriguing addition to the PlayStation 5 ecosystem, designed to enhance the gaming experience by offering remote play capabilities. Here’s a detailed review of this innovative device:### Design and BuildThe PlayStation Portal features a sleek and modern design that mirrors the aesthetics of the PlayStation 5. It’s lightweight and ergonomically designed, making it comfortable to hold during extended gaming sessions. The build quality feels premium, with a sturdy construction that promises durability.### Display and PerformanceThe device boasts a vibrant 8-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1080p, ensuring crisp and clear visuals. While it’s not OLED, the display still provides good color reproduction and brightness levels, making games look sharp and engaging. The performance is smooth, with minimal latency during gameplay, provided you have a stable and fast internet connection.### ConnectivityThe PlayStation Portal relies on Wi-Fi for remote play, streaming games directly from your PS5. The setup process is straightforward, and once connected, it offers a seamless gaming experience. However, the quality of gameplay heavily depends on the strength and stability of your Wi-Fi network. In areas with poor connectivity, you might experience lag or lower video quality.### ControlsThe device incorporates the same haptic feedback and adaptive triggers found in the DualSense controller, providing a tactile and immersive gaming experience. The controls are responsive and intuitive, ensuring that the transition from a standard controller to the remote player is smooth and natural.### Battery LifeThe battery life of the PlayStation Portal is decent, offering around 4-5 hours of continuous play on a single charge. While this might not be enough for marathon gaming sessions, it’s sufficient for casual or on-the-go gaming. The device charges via USB-C, which is convenient and ensures relatively quick recharging times.### Use CasesThe PlayStation Portal is perfect for situations where you want to play your PS5 games away from your main console setup, such as in another room or even on the go. It’s also useful for households with shared TV usage, allowing you to continue your gaming sessions without hogging the main screen.### Price and ValuePriced at a premium, the PlayStation Portal is a niche device catering to dedicated PlayStation enthusiasts. While it adds convenience and flexibility to the gaming experience, the cost might be a deterrent for some, especially when compared to simply using existing devices like smartphones or tablets with a DualSense controller for remote play.### ConclusionThe PlayStation Portal Remote Player for the PlayStation 5 is a well-designed and functional device that enhances the versatility of the PS5 gaming experience. With its comfortable design, responsive controls, and decent display quality, it offers a solid remote play solution. However, its reliance on a strong Wi-Fi connection and relatively high price point might limit its appeal to only the most dedicated PlayStation fans. If you frequently find yourself wanting to play your PS5 games away from your main setup, the PlayStation Portal is a worthy investment.

    Fantastic Device

Although my absolute wish from Sony would be for a dedicated handheld, this will do for now.Form factor and ergonomics – Very comfy to hold and not heavy. Essential a Dualsense controller shopped in half with a screen attached in between. So regular Dualsense users will feel right at home. The only thing that takes getting use to is the PS button and the touch screen for obvious reason. I really like how the power, volume buttons are designed to be away from the top of the screen bezel compared to other handhelds. This prevents accidental button pressing and is easy to reach. And for once, the controller (I’ll call it lightbar) is visible while gaming, so seeing games interact with this light is amazing.Playing the Portal (wired internet connection to PS5) – Although the latency is there, most games are very playable. Playing first person shooters are difficult, especially games that require fast reaction times, but playable. Playing games away from my home also works great. It was highly hesitant about playing games with slow latency, but being able to catch up on games while in bed or when the TV is being used is a huge win for me. Current game I am playing is Silent Hill 2 and it runs great on the Portal.Minor downsides – Battery life, I think can be better. I’m getting roughly 3 to 4 hours of game play with full Dualsense features, speakers, and screen brightness high (not full brightness). I think it’s a given that if I disable most of the Dualsense features the battery would last longer, although all the features are so nice to have on a portable device. The speakers could also be better, although fairly loud, the clarity and low tones such as bass are missing. At least comparing to Steam Deck, the speakers are much better here, where you can actually here more details in games. With the Portal, I found that it was lacking that clarity, Silent Hill 2 for example, it is hard to hear the ambient background noise, and surrounding enemy direction. The other sounds are amplified such as character grunts and voices.Overall I’m really enjoying this streaming device, and only hope Sony will come out with a dedicated handheld with the same form factor. I will definitely continue using the Portal for a long time coming.

    Neat product

I purchased one of these for a couple reasons. One, so I didn’t have to haul my ps5 back and forth from mine to my boyfriends house. And 2, so that I can still keep an eye on my kids while playing, but allowing them to be able to use the TV. Its a win win. The product works great, amazing quality of video, easy to connect to system and so simple and portable. The only issue I’ve had, is while being away from my ps5 (in another house) it is very hard to play. It does work, but the connection isn’t consistent and it’s constantly losing connection to the ps5. Besides that, I have zero complaints!

Best purchase I made in months.

I couldn’t be happier with the PlayStation Portal. I’m new to the PlayStation side of gaming and was quickly hooked by the Spider-Man game and the amazing controller. I came from primarily gaming on PC, XBox, Switch, and Steamdeck and was pleasantly surprised by the gaming experience .So as great as it was, it was located in my bedroom and not convenient to play, so I was looking for something to play remotely. I tried software on the Steamdeck to play remotely , but it was only an “ok” experience. With the portal…wow. The first thing you notice is the Sony Engineering. The Portal is the most comfortable hand held device I’ve ever held. The ergonomics of it is just amazing and an evolution of the of the duel sense controller. I’ve used this for hours with absolutely no fatigue. Amazing. The second thing I noticed is how light the Portal is, which also helps reduce the fatigue. It’s sturdy yet feather light. It’s just everything I’ve looked for.The software is clean, intuitive, and entertaining to launch gaming. Playback on my home network was smooth as I would expect. No perceivable dropped frames, stutter or lag. Just perfect. Now if I could only stream other consoles on it.It’s definitely worth the price.

    Love it!

Now only works with the PS5 and you have to have an account. But it’s just another screen when someone’s watching the tv and you want to play. I use my a lot but I can say the battery isn’t that good have to use a portable charger after awhile I think you could get a good 3hours of play time. And that’s with all settings low no lights on. I can say you can go anywhere and play with it as long as you have a very good connection to internet and make sure your console is in sleep mode also. Picture is very clear and no lag. It is pretty big but a nice comfy fit in my small hands. Also make sure you have a very nice protective case to travel with it. Had a friends crack easily cause he didn’t take the extra steps of getting a case on it screen protector and a nice carrying case.Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I cause when the wife’s on the tv I’m playing my game. Oh yea you can hook it up to any Bluetooth headphones but you can’t stream/record (twitch/discord) anything nor listen to music. That’s why I gave it 4 stars.

    DAD MODE ACTIVATED

Don’t listen to the naysayers, but also don’t mistake this product for something it’s not.It is NOT: a device that you natively download and run games on anywhere in the world. I wish it was, but once you get past that, you appreciate what it is.It IS:The ultimate parent friendly, tv sharing game streaming handheld. On my home Wi-Fi, it works seamlessly and runs games beautifully with a negligible amount of lag that’s only really noticeable in fast paced competitive games like DOOM or DB Sparking Zero. (But still totally playable in those titles!) away from home, it’s alright. Depends on the speed of the wifi in the place you’re at. If you’re maybe at a friends house on their home WiFi, it might run great but you might get iffy performance in your local coffee shop.Speaking of DOOM, it’s a great way for me to enjoy my bloody, gruesome, demon ripping content while not exposing my infant to such imagery in crystal clear 4k on a 65” display. Seriously, for parents, this thing rules. Put on a movie or kids show and tear out demon hearts on your portal while the kid sings Moana. Thank me later 🤘

    I Love My PlayStation Portal!

I love my PS Portal. I’m getting more gaming time in then I have in probably the last two years because of it. The ability to play it anywhere is great. I haven’t experience any lagging or input lag while playing. So far I’ve played Astro Bot, Rocket League and Madden 25 on it and have had an excellent gaming experience with it. The setup took less then 10 minutes and I was gaming on it quickly after receiving it. As long as you have good internet you shouldn’t experience any issues with the PlayStation Portal and I highly recommend getting the Portal especially if you have limited access to a TV in your house. This is a game changer and you’ll be able to game whenever you want.

If you love your PS5, you will love this.

I have no reason why I bought a Portal, but I am finding it to be one of my favorite gadgets to go to while hanging around the house. I have all my PS4 games on a PS5 compatible HD, and they run great on the Portal. The screen is just big enough, and easy to see the action. I have played Madden25, MLB 24, FIFA25, and NBA25. I bought the PS5 for College Football which is a blast on the Portal. For having no preconceived notions on this product, I ended up loving it, and playing many games that I would not have, if I had to use the TV. I interrupt no one’s viewing of the big TV, and I can go into another room if I choose. I wish you could use two on one PS5. 😂

    Love it.

The PlayStation Portal is a great way to experience your favorite PS5 games on a handheld screen. The screen is really nice and it’s easy to hold. The only downside is that you need a strong Wi-Fi connection for it to work its best.

    LOVE IT

I won’t lie, I debated for awhile about getting one, as I’ve only had my PS5 since February, but after looking at reviews, especially reviews on how GTA performes on here, I decided to take the plunge and buy one. I don’t regret it. While I do wish it could use Bluetooth headphones, not being able too is a small price to pay to be able to game in the palm of your hand, and also free up the tv on occasion when someone else might not want to watch you play or maybe they want to watch their own show. It’s worth it to me.

    It’s handy

When I have people over and I want to play my games without taking up the tv this is perfect. You just need to have really good internet speed or else it will disconnect from your ps5 and/or have terrible graphic display. The analog sticks feel like that of a regular ps5 controller so that’s a huge plus. They don’t feel loose or too stiff. Battery life last a decent while unless you game for 5 to 6 hours straight. Over all I like it’s handy!

    It works great.

Wouldn’t say it’s worth the price, but it functions exactly as it described.

Great device but kind of a paper weight without internet

I was excited to try this after waiting so long for it to be in stock. Overall I’m really happy with the purchase but noticed if you don’t have internet it’s kind of a paper weight. It would be nice if there were some local storage options to download small games or if you could access Netflix/Prime Vide etc to watch tv and movies independent of your PS5 if you wanted. Those apps can’t take up too much local storage. SD card spot could of been added to accomodate for additional storage. Overall though, for what it is, I have enjoyed playing games in other rooms or while traveling. PS, online first person shooters are pretty tough on these. I’d stick to other games that dont require a super quick response time.

    I’ve purchased two!

I was gifted one of these, by my fiancée, as an early Christmas gift and I LOVE it! We are Sony people, especially in consoles, so this was an easy purchase for him to make.I love that I can use it anywhere, as long as I have a wifi connection. Now I don’t travel with it, so I don’t leave the house, but I can be anywhere in my home and be able to play my Playstation 5 without disturbing anyone by hogging the television. I have little to no latency lag.He loved my portal so much that I bought a second one for him to use with his profile! It was his early Christmas gift. Next to purchase another PS5!

    Could be better

Wish you could use Everything as you can on the Ps5 sadly you can’t other then that, playing the games anywhere with steady internet is amazing, very good quality screen, controls, its been years since i played on controller, but my kids have taken over it, since they do play ps5 , i am more on PC now, Just keep in mind, you do need a Ps5 console to connect to it, once you’ve done so, you can use it anywhere(with internet connection) I’ll give it 4 stars

    Truly portable.

I 100% recommend this product to any true gamer. I have used the portal from across the country twice, once in Utah and the other in Florida, while my ps5 stayed in my home state of Ohio, with minimal issues. It’s difficult to play FPS games that are online and that require fast actions but for single player games or games that do not require fast paced action this is the device for you. Within my own home the connectivity is amazing and there is hardly any input lag etc. I recommend having your ps5 internet connection to be wired via ethernet cable and you too should have no problem gaming anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

Beautiful screen with some hang ups

This device is exactly as it says. A remote gaming hand held. It can not do anything else except that.Pros-Can use anywhere with a strong wifi connection-Beautiful screen-Dual sense controller feel including the ambient lighting-Built in buttons for seamless gameplay like screenshots, recording, built in micCons-connection ps5/portal wifi are both needed-control buttons are fairly far apart when compared to the controls-battery consumption is pretty high-No ui to customize controls or other features-It also contains a good amount of dead pixels when loading screen changes-[Important] No bt connections outside of the devices for Sony exclusive devices(comes with an aux port for audio)-[Important] ps5 when disconnected from remote play abruptly will not turn off ps5-moving and button controls aren’t as responsive as they could be which is mostly an issue with fps and action oriented games-Size is large for a portable handheld and would need a case as each part can easily break-TouchPad functionality is utilized with a touch screen tap twice which is hard to do with the sizeAll in all, size wise quite large and basic features are lacking like bt, settings management and connectivity is somewhat stable. The screen however is beautiful as well as the concept of the dual sense features like ambient lighting. The main reason for the score is the price and lack of basic features like internet and streaming for the price. A ps5 is like 400-500 used but the portal and headset/buds run almost as much which is way to high considering most tabs and phones can do what this does with some added.TLDR: Great if you have the money and are just trying to play most games when away. It is only a remote player so functions are about the same as the remote app. Features and Accessibility are lacking but for most games enthusiasts aren’t a deal breaker. Willing to up to 4 star if the device had common bt/internet capabilities or if the price was around $100

    Must buy

If you own a PS5 & have good internet connection home and away, then this is a great accessory to go along with your console. I’ve had it for a month now & haven’t played on the console since. Home and Away!
